Abstract

This article aims to analyze the influence of leadership style and interpersonal communication on employee performance satisfaction at Hotel Asri Podomoro. The problem is focused on the extent to which these two independent variables can enhance employee performance in the hospitality industry context. The study is based on theories of human resource management, leadership, and organizational communication. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to employees using purposive sampling and analyzed quantitatively with multiple linear regression. The results indicate that leadership style has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, where leaders who provide direction, role models, and motivation encourage higher work quality. Interpersonal communication was also found to have a more dominant effect, as openness, empathy, and mutual respect foster a harmonious work environment that supports productivity. This study concludes that the combination of appropriate leadership style and effective interpersonal communication is a key factor in improving performance satisfaction. Therefore, human resource management in the hospitality industry should emphasize leadership and communication quality in addition to technical skills.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the quality of human resources among mobile phone store employees in Bawen, Semarang Regency. The problem is focused on three main aspects, namely customer service, product knowledge, and digital marketing skills, which are considered influential in enhancing business competitiveness. To approach this problem, the study refers to theories of human resource management, marketing, and service communication. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with employees and store owners, as well as documentation related to the marketing strategies applied. All data were analyzed qualitatively through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that customer service is the dominant aspect, as it determines customer satisfaction and loyalty, while product knowledge plays an important role in building consumer trust by providing detailed information on product specifications and benefits. Meanwhile, digital marketing, although less dominant, remains essential as a tool to expand marketing reach in the digital transformation era. This study concludes that the success of mobile phone stores in Bawen is not solely determined by sales ability, but rather by the integration of quality customer service, adequate product knowledge, and the sustainable use of digital technology as a marketing strategy.

Abstract

Artikel atau tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan etika kerja profesional corridor attendant dalam meningkatkan kualitas pelayanan di hotel berbintang. Masalah difokuskan pada bagaimana sikap ramah, disiplin, serta kesopanan yang ditunjukkan corridor attendant berkontribusi terhadap pengalaman positif tamu. Guna mendekati masalah ini dipergunakan acuan teori dari Hartline & Ferrell mengenai sikap profesional karyawan serta model SERVQUAL Parasuraman, Zeithaml, & Berry tentang kualitas layanan. Data-data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan corridor attendant, observasi langsung di lapangan, serta dokumentasi visual, kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa corridor attendant tidak hanya menjaga kebersihan dan kerapian lorong hotel, tetapi juga memberikan nilai tambah melalui interaksi profesional, seperti menunduk hormat, mengenakan seragam rapi, dan tanggap terhadap kebutuhan tamu. Sikap tersebut terbukti menciptakan rasa aman, nyaman, dan kepercayaan, sehingga berdampak positif pada citra hotel dan kepuasan tamu. Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan etika kerja profesional corridor attendant memiliki peran penting sebagai bagian dari kualitas layanan yang berkelanjutan serta mendukung standar internasional dalam industri perhotelan.

Abstract

Artikel atau tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP) internasional dalam kegiatan housekeeping di Renaissance Okinawa Resort, Jepang. Masalah difokuskan pada bagaimana SOP diterapkan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi kerja staf dan kepuasan tamu, serta faktor-faktor kunci yang mendukung keberhasilan implementasinya. Guna mendekati masalah ini dipergunakan acuan teori manajemen layanan, pembelajaran organisasi, dan praktik housekeeping profesional. Data-data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan manajer, staf housekeeping, dan tamu hotel, observasi partisipatif kegiatan housekeeping harian, serta analisis dokumentasi SOP dan panduan operasional, kemudian dianalisis secara kualitatif menggunakan analisis tematik. Kajian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan SOP internasional berjalan secara konsisten dan sistematis, mempermudah alur kerja staf, meningkatkan koordinasi tim, dan mengurangi risiko kesalahan, sehingga efisiensi kerja meningkat. Dampak positif terhadap tamu terlihat dari penilaian tinggi terhadap kebersihan kamar, kerapian fasilitas, dan konsistensi layanan. Keberhasilan implementasi SOP dipengaruhi oleh pelatihan rutin, supervisi manajerial, ketersediaan sarana sesuai standar, dan budaya kerja profesional. Dengan demikian, SOP internasional tidak hanya meningkatkan kualitas layanan, tetapi juga menjadi strategi untuk mempertahankan loyalitas tamu dan keunggulan kompetitif hotel.

Abstract

Street vendors (PKL) play an important role in the people’s economy, including in Bawen District, Semarang Regency, where angkringan has become a cultural and culinary icon. However, the development of digitalization through social media, online food delivery platforms, and digital payment systems presents both challenges and opportunities for these traditional vendors. This study aims to analyze the survival strategies of angkringan vendors in facing digitalization, identify supporting and inhibiting factors, and assess the role of digitalization in enhancing business competitiveness. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles & Huberman’s model (data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing). The findings reveal that the vendors’ survival strategies include product innovation, utilization of digital technology, and strengthening social networks. Supporting factors for digital adaptation include wider internet access, government support through QRIS, and younger consumers accustomed to technology. Inhibiting factors consist of low digital literacy, limited capital, and concerns about transaction security. Digitalization has been proven to improve competitiveness by expanding markets and facilitating transactions, although the adoption level remains uneven. Abstract

Through the application of the SWOT theory, this study examines the leadership concept that Maximus portrays in the movie Gladiator (2000). The objective of this study is to determine the factors that influence the leadership of the primary protagonist, specifically focusing on their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The research methodology used in this study is a comprehensive examination of Maximus' behaviors and attributes as depicted in the film. The findings of the analysis indicate that Maximus possesses notable attributes in the realm of moral leadership and courage, which significantly contribute to his achievements within the film. Nevertheless, it is important to acknowledge that he possesses certain limitations, including a tendency for uncertainty and vulnerability. Moreover, Maximus draws on the chances presented by the establishment of friendships and the provision of support from other characters, ultimately enabling him to accomplish his objectives. The principal sources of danger arise from the protagonist's antagonists within the narrative. In summary, the leadership philosophy shown by Maximus in the film Gladiator can be seen as embodying the fundamental elements of the SWOT analysis framework. The findings of this analysis contribute to our comprehension of leadership dynamics within the framework of a cinematic story and offer valuable perspectives on the use of SWOT theory in the examination of fictional personas. The results mentioned above hold significance for comprehending leadership principles within the realm of popular culture and in the context of ordinary society.

Abstract

Research aims to evaluate the quality of foreign language services provided to foreign tourists visiting the Old City of Semarang, a tourism destination that is increasingly in demand. This research uses a qualitative approach with various methods, including case studies, indepth interviews with foreign tourists, content analysis, participant observation, document analysis and data triangulation. The research results revealed that the majority of foreign tourists were impressed with foreign language services in the Old City of Semarang. They shared positive stories about interactions with officers who tried to help in a foreign language, which made them feel welcome and comfortable. Another positive experience involves the ability to explore the culture and history of the city through smooth interactions with local residents who are fluent in foreign languages. However, a number of foreign tourists also face obstacles, especially in terms of communication, navigation and understanding cultural differences. Some of the recommendations given by foreign tourists include increasing language training for officers, providing more information materials in foreign languages, improving navigation, cultural exchange programs, use of technology, tourist feedback channels, and increasing cooperation between stakeholders. This research has important implications for improving the tourism sector and local economy. Improving foreign language services in the Old City of Semarang can increase tourist satisfaction, result in repeat visits, positive recommendations, and a positive contribution to the city's economic growth. Therefore, language training, provision of information materials, improved navigation, promotion of culture, technology, feedback channels, and cooperation between stakeholders are key steps in achieving this goal.

Abstract

This article analyzes the effectiveness of implementing the 5R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Reshare, Resell) in managing food waste at the Nutrition Installation of RSJD Dr. Amino Gondhohutomo. Through a case study approach, this research evaluates the extent to which the 5R concept is applied, identifies factors influencing its effectiveness, and provides recommendations to enhance its practice. The results show that the nutrition installation management staff have successfully implemented the 5R concept, while cleanliness officers are crucial in maintaining environmental hygiene. Positive responses from patients also contribute to food waste management. However, challenges such as awareness and involvement of all parties and limited time and resources still need to be addressed. With collaborative efforts and broader support, the implementation of the 5R concept can become more effective and sustainable in the future, enhancing the quality of food service and food waste management in hospitals.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja operasional dan manajemen sumber daya manusia (SDM) di Kedai Kopi Karangjati, dilihat dari perspektif keuangan. Kinerja operasional yang efisien dan pengelolaan SDM yang baik merupakan faktor kunci dalam meningkatkan profitabilitas dan keberlangsungan usaha, khususnya pada Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, studi kasus, dan analisis dokumen. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pengelolaan persediaan di Kedai Kopi Karangjati sudah cukup baik, meskipun terdapat tantangan dalam pengendalian biaya terkait fluktuasi harga bahan baku. Di sisi lain, manajemen SDM memberikan dampak positif terhadap produktivitas karyawan, namun masalah retensi karyawan masih perlu diperbaiki. Dampak keuangan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan laba bersih berkat efisiensi operasional, namun masih diperlukan upaya lebih lanjut untuk mengendalikan biaya operasional. Penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi seperti penerapan strategi pembelian bahan baku yang fleksibel dan perbaikan struktur gaji serta pengaturan kerja untuk meningkatkan retensi karyawan. Hasil penelitian ini penting karena memberikan panduan bagi pengelola Kedai Kopi Karangjati dalam menyusun strategi untuk meningkatkan kinerja operasional dan SDM, sehingga mendukung pertumbuhan finansial yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Konsep pembangunan Sumber Daya Manusia (SDM) adalah faktor dimana mampu menunjukkan kualitas negara dan diperlukan kemampuan SDM yang berkualitas dan bermutu, baik dalam bentuk keterampilan sosial (soft skill) maupun keterampilan akademik (hard skill) sehingga pendidikan merupakan salah satu penentu mutu SDM. Kinerja yang tepat perlu dukungan pendidikan dan pelatihan serta fasilitas kerja yang tepat untuk menjadikannya sebagai pendukung keberhasilan pekerjaan. Didalam studi ini dipergunakan metode kuantitatif sebagai pendekatannya dengan sampel sejumlah 86 perangkat desa di Kecamatan Bandungan Kabupaten Semarang. Data dikumpukan melalui kuesioner yang disebar ke responden. Diolah dengan bantuan program SPSS dan diuji validitas dan reliabilitas sebagai uji instrumennya. Dilakukan juga uji hipotesis guna penerimaan atau penolokan hipotesis yang diajukan. Dari hasil pengolahan data, dapat disimpulkan dalam penelitian ini yaitu: (1) pelatihan, fasilitas kerja dan latar belakang pendidikan berdampak kepada kinerja perangkat desa (2) pelatihan, fasilitas kerja dan latar belakang pendidikan berdampak kepada kinerja Perangkat Desa secara simultan.
