Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the specific dispositions that contribute to effective critical thinking among prospective science students. Utilizing a descriptive survey method, the study involved 52 participants from different universities, aiming to gather comprehensive data on their critical thinking dispositions. The research instrument, a structured questionnaire comprising 36 items derived from Ennis's critical thinking indicators, was validated and tested for reliability, ensuring its efficacy in measuring the intended constructs. The findings revealed that the overall critical thinking disposition of the students was predominantly below the critical threshold, with significant variability across different indicators. For instance, indicators such as seeking and offering clear statements and reasons scored relatively high, while others like taking into account the total situation scored lower. This disparity highlights the need for targeted interventions to enhance specific critical thinking dispositions. The study recommends integrating contextual and inquiry-based learning approaches, which have been shown to effectively foster critical thinking by engaging students in real-world problem-solving scenarios. Moreover, incorporating collaborative and experiential learning experiences can further nurture critical thinking skills, promoting deeper understanding and innovation. The research emphasizes the importance of developing specific disposition like open-mindedness to improve the critical thinking capabilities of prospective science teachers, ultimately enhancing their academic performance and preparedness to tackle complex scientific issues.

Abstract

Tujuan dari studi ini adalah untuk memetakan penelitian pengembangan buku ajar IPA sekolah kejuruan di seluruh dunia. Hasil dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi bagi peneliti lain dalam mengembangkan buku ajar IPA SMK di Indonesia secara khusus. Kurikulum SMK di Indonesia menempatkan IPA sebagai salah satu mata pelajaran mata pelajaran wajib yang harus ditempuh oleh siswa sebelum menempuh mata pelajaran Kompetensi Keahlian, atau dengan kata lain mata pelajaran IPA merupakan mata pelajaran penentu dalam keberhasilan menempuh mata pelajaran kejuruan siswa kedepannya. Penelitian tentang pengembangan buku ajar IPA SMK akan memberikan kontribusi terhadap perbaikan kualitas pendidikan di SMK, khusunya pada mata pelajaran IPA sebagai mata pelajaran prasyarat mata pelajaran kejuruan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 41 artikel yang dianalisis, kajian 13 artikel masih terbatas pada konten atau kurikulum IPA, 19 artikel secara spesifik menyebutkan penelitiannya tentang buku ajar IPA, hanya 9 penelitian yang secara spesifik menyebutkan sekolah kejuruan dalam penelitiaanya tentang buku ajar IPA. Namun tidak satu pun penelitian ditemukan secara khusus mengkaji tentang pengembangan buku ajar IPA sekolah kejuruan atau SMK. Berdasarkan indeksasi, ditemukan 34 artikel terindeks scopus dan 7 artikel terindeks nasional (Indonesia). tinjauan berdasarkan tahun terbit menunjukkan sebaran yang cukup merata tiap tahunnya. Kecuali pada tahun 2021 dan 2022, jumlah artikel yang ditemukan cukup banyak jika dibandingkan dengan tahun sebelumnya.

Abstract

The quality of teacher learning is a major concern in education. Moderation techniques are expected to contribute to improving the quality of teacher learning. Kafah science learning is a thorough learning, prospective teacher students get actual competence for one concept taught. These competencies include religion, science, application and meaningfulness. This research aims to integrate moderation techniques in kafah science learning to improve the quality of learning. The goal will be achieved by conducting experimental research with a one group pretest-postest design. The study involved 38 prospective PGMI UIN Mataram teacher candidates and a lecturer as a research sample. The quality of kafah science learning is measured using kafah science learning observation sheets. Learning observation is carried out by 3 observers to ensure the implementation of learning. Data on critical thinking skills were analyzed descriptively and statistically. The results show that the integration of moderation techniques in kafah learning can improve the quality of learning carried out by lecturers

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe scientific literacy and character education in 21st century science learning and to examine, describe the suitability of scientific literacy and character education for 21st century science lessons. Scientific literacy is the ability to understand science, communicate science, and apply science abilities to solving problems, in the process of learning scientific literacy is easily associated with science subjects. Scientific literacy and character education assist students in developing their potential and character values for competitiveness in the 21st century. In this study, the literature review method was used, namely by placing, obtaining, reading, and evaluating various related or related research literature. with the problem to be studied. The data described are the results of research on scientific literacy and character education in the 21st century, which have been carried out by previous researchers. The results of the literature review found that scientific literacy and character education can be integrated in 21st century science learning.

Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) is an education that prepares students to become professionals according to their program of expertise. In addition to learning science in vocational education subjects, which is something new, the previous vocational subject curriculum did not study science. The purpose of this study was to describe students' perceptions of science learning at State Vocational High School (SMKN) 1 Praya, SMKN 1 Pujut , and SMKN 1 West Praya. This research includes descriptive research. The sample in this study was 20% of the tenth grade students of Paiwisata Vocational High School in Central Lombok district, totaling 37 students SMKN 1 Praya, 25 students of SMKN 1 Pujut, and 26 students of SMKN 1 West Praya . Sampling was done by simple random sampling, and the instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is percentage. Students' Perceptions of Research Results in Science Lessons show a percentage of 74.02% with sufficient criteria. It can be concluded that students' perceptions of learning science meet sufficient criteria.

Abstract

This study recommends OBE-oriented ethnoscience learning to foster entrepreneurial competence carried out with 6 stages of learning namely ethnoscience observation activities. ethnoscience analysis, product ideas, production trials, production cost analysis and product presentation/presentation. This learning model is further introduced by the author as ethnoedusciencepreneurship. This learning step is relevant to the main outputs/outcomes of science learning, namely Content Knowledge (HBS1): Inquiry Skills and Scientific Processes (HBS2): Laboratory Engineering and Safety (HBS3): Science Communication (HBS4): Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (HBS5): Scientific Literacy and Ethical Considerations (HBS6): Lifelong Learning and Scientific Investigation (HBS7). The learning step can accommodate the needs of developing entrepreneurial competencies in students referring to SKKNI Number 53 of 2014 concerning Industrial Entrepreneurship.

Abstract

This study aims to produce inquiry-based AR media that is feasible, practical, and effective to improve students' critical thinking skills which can ultimately achieve the SDGs goals in the aspect of mutual education. This study uses a 4D model development procedure. The subjects of this study were grade VIII students at one of the Mataram City Junior High Schools consisting of 3 classes. Data collection techniques used questionnaires, observation sheets and test instruments developed according to critical thinking indicators. Data analysis techniques used Aikens'V for feasibility testing, practicality percentage testing and normalized gain testing to test the hypothesis. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that the Augmented Reality (AR) Media developed was included in the category of feasible and practical for use in science learning and could increase students' interest in learning. AR media supports students in the inquiry learning process. The use of AR media makes it easier for students to learn and provides fun and current things. Learning using AR media facilitates active and creative learning for pupils since it is supported by investigative activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical thinking abilities of pre-service science teachers, specifically focusing on students majoring in physics. Recognizing the pivotal role of critical thinking in science education, this research investigates the key abilities of analysis, inference, evaluation, and decision-making within the context of routine science learning activities. The study employs a descriptive research design, utilizing quantitative observational methods. A critical thinking ability test, comprising eight items, was administered to 19 pre-service science teachers. The validity and reliability of the test instrument were rigorously assessed through empirical testing and Cronbach's alpha, confirming the instrument's suitability for measuring the intended abilities. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses, including ANOVA, were conducted to evaluate the critical thinking abilities of the participants. The results indicate an overall low level of critical thinking across all indicators, with no significant differences identified among the abilities of analysis, inference, evaluation, and decision-making. The descriptive analysis revealed that the students generally fell into the "Not Critical" category, reflecting significant deficiencies in their ability to engage deeply with scientific content. The ANOVA results further supported these findings, showing a lack of significant variation in critical thinking abilities, which points to a systemic issue within the current educational practices. These findings have important implications for science education, underscoring the need for comprehensive instructional strategies that address all aspects of critical thinking.

Abstract

Higher education has an important role in developing students' scientific creativity to face the challenges of the 21st century. One approach that has received attention in improving scientific creativity is the scaffolding inquiry model integrated with local wisdom. However, research related to the trend and direction of the development of the scaffolding inquiry model integrated with local wisdom on student scientific creativity is still limited. This study aims to provide a bibliometric review of the research trends of the scaffolding inquiry model integrated with local wisdom on student scientific creativity during the period 2020-2025. Data was obtained through Google Scholar using analysis tools such as Publish or Perish and Dimensions.ai, resulting in 1,000 documents selected based on PRISMA guidelines. Analysis was conducted using bibliometric methods and content analysis, supported by VOSviewer software to visualize keyword trends and research patterns. Research trends showed variations in the number of annual publications, with a significant spike in 2021 and a decline in subsequent years. Bibliometric analysis shows the dominance of publications in the form of books and monographs, highlighting the need for further exploration in this topic. Although the publication trend shows a decline in recent years, the scaffolding inquiry model integrated with local wisdom remains important to enhance students' scientific creativity. The integration of local wisdom in learning can create a more contextualized and innovative learning experience, support the development of scientific creativity skills, and fit the needs of 21st century education. Further research in the future is expected to explore more deeply the potential of technology and local wisdom in enric hing this learning model.

Abstract

Chemical detergents may have negative impacts on both the environment and human health. The addition of enzymes to detergents can help reduce these effects. Therefore, discovering new enzyme sources that are compatible with commercial detergents and can enhance their cleaning performance may provide an ideal solution to this issue. This study aimed to evaluate the compatibility and effectiveness of a crude fungal lipase extract isolated from avocado flesh (AIF) when combined with commercial detergents, as well as to assess its potential in reducing the required amount of chemical detergent. Compatibility tests were conducted by comparing the washing performance of three commercial detergent brands, while effectiveness was evaluated based on washing performance under various detergent concentrations. The results showed that the crude fungal lipase extract was compatible with all tested detergents and had the potential to reduce chemical detergent usage by up to 50%.
