Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan. Pertama adalah untuk menyelidiki keuntungan penggunaan video dalam mengajar berbicara Bahasa Inggris pada kelas EFL di kelas XI SMA N 4 Singaraja. Kedua adalah untuk mengetahui kerugian dalam penggunaan video dalam mengajar berbicara Bahasa Inggris pada kelas EFL di kelas XI SMA N 4 Singaraja. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode campuran. Penelitian ini menggunakan lembar observasi dan lembar kuisioner yang diberikan ke siswa sebagai instrument penelitian. Subjek yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 1 di SMA N 4 Singaraja dengan jumlah 30 siswa. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa salah satu keuntungan adalah 1) Video dapat mewakili situasi komunikatif yang nyata bagi siswa; 2) Video membantu siswa untuk mempelajari budaya baru berdasarkan apa yang mereka lihat dalam video; 3) Video membantu siswa melihat beberapa gerakan dalam video; 4) Video dapat memperkuat proses pembelajaran; 5) Video dapat menghibur siswa dalam proses pembelajaran; 6) Informasi dapat disajikan secara bersamaan pada saat yang bersamaan; 7) Video menyajikan suara dan juga gerakan saat ditampilkan oleh guru; 8) Video memungkinkan siswa untuk belajar materi secara mandiri; 9) Video dapat menampilkan fenomena yang sulit dilihat dalam istilah nyata; 10) Menggunakan media video dalam pembelajaran, dapat mengembangkan hasil belajar siswa; 11) Para siswa lebih suka belajar bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan video daripada belajar bahasa Inggris hanya dengan mengajar dari guru; dan 12) Dengan menggunakan video, ini dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam belajar. Sedangkan kerugian yang ditemukan adalah 1) Video akan berfungsi jika kualitas videonya bagus; 2) Peralatan dibutuhkan dan juga disiapkan sebelum menggunakan video untuk menghemat waktu; 3) Video tidak akan membantu siswa jika bahasa yang digunakan dalam video sulit dimengerti; 4) Para siswa tidak dapat memahami materi dalam video jika konten dalam video tidak sesuai dengan materi. Hasil Ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat keuntungan dan kerugian dalam proses penggunaan video sebagai media pembelajaran. Kata Kunci : video, berbicara Bahasa Inggris, EFL This study has two purposes. The first was to investigate the advantages of using video in teaching English speaking in EFL classes in grade XI SMA N 4 Singaraja. The second was to find out the disadvantages in using video in teaching English speaking in EFL class in grade XI SMA N 4 Singaraja. The research design was a Mixed Method Design. This study used observation sheet and questionnaire given to the students as the research instruments. The subjects were the students of class XI MIA 1 in SMA N 4 Singaraja with the number of 30 students. The result revealed that the advantages were 1) Video represents a real communicative situation to the students; 2) Video helps the students to learn a new culture based on what they see in the video; 3) Video helps the students to see some gestures in the video; 4) Video strengthens the learning process; 5) Video entertains the students in learning process; 6) The information in the video is presented simultaneously at the same time; 7) Video serves voices and also the movements while it is displayed by the teacher; 8) Video lets the students to learn a material independently; 9) Video displays a phenomenon that is difficult to see in real terms; 10) Using video media in learning, it increases students’ speaking achievement; 11) The students prefer learning English by using video rather than learning English by only lecturing from the teacher; and 12) By using video, it increases students’ motivation in learning. While the disadvantages were 1) Video will work if the quality of the video is good; 2) The equipment is needed and also well-prepared before using video; 3) Video will not help the students if the language used in the video is difficult to understand; and 4) The students cannot understand the material in the video if the content in the video does not match with the material. These results indicate that there are advantages and disadvantages in the process of using video as a media of learning.keyword : video, English Speaking, EFL

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2017 dengan melibatkan tiga orang guru bahasa Inggris di tiga sekolah menengah atas dan kanjuruhan di Singaraja. Penelitian ini dilakukan di tiga kelas. Penelitian ini terkait dengan jenis materi autentik yang digunakan oleh guru Bahasa Inggris dan implementasi materi autentik tersebut dalam proses belajar mengajar di kelas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari tahu tentang jenis materi autentik yang digunakan oleh guru Bahasa Inggris di Singaraja dan implementasi materi autentik tersebut di kelas. Data diambil dari semua elemen proses belajar mengajar antara guru dan siswa, dan pendukung laiinya yaitu beberapa buku dan rpp. Penilitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif yang menggunakan wawancara, dokumentasi dan obsrvasi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif yang tidak mencakup perhitungan dan langkah-langkah statistik. Hasil dari pelitian ini yaitu ada tiga macam materi autentik yang digunakan oleh guru yaitu cartoon movie, brochure, dan short animated video. Dalam penelitian ditemukan bahwa penggunaan materi autentik sangat efektif dalam proses belajar – mengajar serta mampu meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam belajar Bahasa Inggris. Kata Kunci : autentik material, Guru Bahasa Inggris This study was conducted on October 2017 by involving three English teachers at three Senior High School in Singaraja. This research was observed in three classrooms. The research focuses on the kind of authentic materials used by English teachers and the implementation of authentic materials in teaching and learning process. The purpose of this research is to identify kinds of authentic materials used by English teachers and the implementation of authentic materials in teaching and learning process. The data are taken from all elements of teaching-learning process committed by the teacher and the students and other sources such as books, and lesson plan. The method of collecting data is descriptive method by employing interview, documentation and observation. This research is descriptive research which does not include any calculation or statistic procedure. The result of the research is there are three kinds of authentic material used by the teacher that is cartoon movie, brochure, and short animated video. This research also found that the use of authentic material is very effective in teaching and learning process and able to increase students' motivation in learning English.keyword : Authentic Materials, English teacher

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media digital berbasis Storyjumper untuk mengajar bahasa Inggris. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 31 siswa kelas VI di SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, Singaraja. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian desain dan pengembangan dan menggunakan model ADDIE yang diusulkan oleh Romiszowski (1996). Ada lima prosedur yang digunakan yaitu Menganalisis, Merancang, Mengembangkan, Menerapkan, dan Mengevaluasi. Ada beberapa instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini seperti angket siswa, analisis silabus, panduan wawancara guru, rubrik penilaian ahli, dan lembar observasi. Di akhir penelitian akan ada produk prototipe bernama digital storybook sebagai media digital dalam bentuk video. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah buku cerita digital yang dikembangkan berdasarkan analisis silabus dan kebutuhan siswa. Media ni dikembangkan berdasarkan empat topik yaitu; makanan dan minuman, tempat umum, transportasi, olah raga dan hobi. Berdasarkan hasil rubrik penilaian ahli, produk dikategorikan sebagai media yang “excellent”. Dengan demikian, produk ini layak digunakan untuk belajar bahasa Inggris untuk siswa kelas enam.Kata Kunci : media digital, Storyjumper, pelajar usia dini. This research aimed to develop Storyjumper-Based digital media to teach English. The subject of this research was 31 students of sixth grade students in SDN 3 Banjar Jawa, Singaraja. This reseacrh was design and development research nd used ADDIE model proposed by Romiszowski (1996). There were five procedures used namely Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. In collecting the data, some instruments were used to conduct this research. There were students’ questionnaire, syllabus analysis, teacher’s interview guide, expert judgment rubrics, and observation sheet. In the end of this research, there was a prototype product named digital storybook as digital media in form of video. The result of this research is digital storybook that is developed based on syllabus analysis and the students’ needs. It is developed based on four topics namely; food and beverages, public places, transportation, sports and hobbies. Based on the result of expert judgment rubrics, it is found that products are categorized as excellent media. Thus, this product is proper to use for learning English for sixth grade students.keyword : digital media, Storyjumper, young learners.

Abstract

Penerapan pembelajaran online akibat Covid-19 telah menjadi fenomena yang banyak diperbincangkan di dunia pendidikan khususnya dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa Inggris. Pembelajaran online diterapkan di sekolah masih terdapat kesulitan yang dihadapi oleh guru dan siswa baik secara teknis maupun nonteknis. Evaluasi terhadap pembelajaran online jarang dilakukan, sehingga belum ditemukan solusi yang signifikan untuk mengatasi kesulitan dalam melakukan pembelajaran online. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi guru EFL terhadap pembelajaran online selama pandemi Covid-19 dengan berfokus pada evaluasi aspek konteks pembelajaran. Metode kualitatif digunakan sebagai desain penelitian dengan mengadaptasi Model CIPPO. Data dikumpulkan melalui beberapa teknik, seperti; observasi, dokumentasi, administrasi angket, dan wawancara. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran online pada masa pandemi covid-19 sudah efektif dan berjalan dengan baik. Namun, guru harus meningkatkan keterampilan mengajar mereka, terutama selama pembelajaran online, untuk membuat siswa bersemangat untuk belajar, terutama dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Selain itu, guru harus membuat media pembelajaran yang menarik, atau merancang materi pembelajaran yang kreatif untuk menarik perhatian siswa. Di sisi lain, peran keterlibatan orang tua juga penting dalam bidang ini. Hal ini dikarenakan siswa lebih banyak menghabiskan waktunya di rumah. Oleh karena itu, orang tua harus mendukung penuh anak-anaknya, seperti menyediakan smartphone yang sesuai untuk kelas belajar online mereka, juga kouta internet.

Abstract

Teachers should be able to develop learning activities that offer meaningful learning to students and improve students' English skills. Higher Order Thinking Skills, or HOTS, are the current solution to support the development of student's abilities. This study has the purpose to develop a students' worksheet in a form of a supplementary book by promoting HOTS for eighth-grade students to implement curriculum 2013. The book is for the eighth grade in the second semester of junior high school students. This research implements D&D (Design and Development research) methods with four steps which are Analysis, Design, Development, and Evaluation. The researcher employed random sampling and participants in this study were eighth-grade Junior High School students. In collecting the data, the researcher conducted learning process observation, teacher interview, document analysis, and expert judgment. The result of the study found that the HOTS-Based Worksheet can use as a guide for leading and educating students when reading books. The use of this book makes learning more fun, interesting, and visually appealing for students. This worksheet can also help students improve their English language skills and critical thinking skills. The expert evaluation findings show that this product falls into the category of "very good" media. It is hoped that the product will be giving advantages for both students and teachers to improve the quality of English teaching and learning process.

Abstract

The teachers had not implemented HOTS-based learning well, moreover there were no varied introductory books let alone additional sources that support the learning process in the 21st century. This is very important to note considering that children have entered junior high school and have stepped on a higher level of learning. This study aims to developing a HOTS-based supplementary learning book for 7th graders in the first semester. This research design used the ADDE (Analysis, Design, Development, and Evaluation) model, in which the object of the research was a HOTS-based English learning book. The development of the book was based on the English learning syllabus used. Observations, interviews, document studies, and expert judgments were used to collect data in this study. A teacher in in junior high school was a participant in this study. The study found that this supplementary material book gave satisfaction to the target user. In addition, judging from the qualifications of experts, this product was referred to as a very good worksheet so that it was expected to be useful for 7th grade students and teachers.

Abstract

There are lots of schools in Indonesia still use conventional learning method in learning process. That is still using the book as a medium of learning. Learning media used in the 4.0 era is still minimal and rarely uses technology as a learning medium. Gamification can be used as an alternative learning media that can make the learning process more effective, engaging, and fun. This research aims to develop learning media in the form of game for elementary school students' in learning English. This study uses a design and development (D&D) methodology and the ADDIE model. The research subject is the fourth-grade elementary school students. The instrument used was a questionnaire and observations. And the data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative.  The resulting data are in the form of (1) the design and development results using the ADDIE method (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). (2) To obtain product validity and effectiveness results from expert judgment, teacher, and product trial to students. From the results of expert judgment, very valid results were obtained. And the students' results are very valid, and several things need to be revised again to perfect the product

Abstract

One of the instruments that instructors may utilize to support the educational process at school is teaching media. Teachers can employ various instructional resources, including audio, visual, and audiovisual-based material. Some teachers continue using teaching media for various reasons, while others do not. This study aims to analyze teaching media teachers use in post-pandemic English language learning at senior high school. A case study methodology and a qualitative approach were both employed in this investigation. Three teachers chosen by the researcher served as the study's informants. Interviews and checklist observational methods were employed as data-gathering strategies. Data analysis used Miles & Huberman's theory, for data validity uses triangulation. The results of this study show that implementing teaching media can make it easier for teachers to deliver information and can also make it easier for students to receive information. This study's findings include Teacher's use of laptops, LCD projectors, active speakers, headsets, and the use of language laboratory rooms in listening activities. In addition, there are several obstacles experienced by teachers in implementing each media, such as the need for teacher adaptation to ICT developments and facility factors that are only sometimes ready to be used.
