Abstract

This study analyzes the effectiveness of installed supervision (Waskat) by the Sub-district Head on the performance of employees at the Bukit Kapur District Office, Dumai City, in the midst of the demands of public service accountability. The background involves local bureaucratic challenges such as resource constraints and employee resistance. Using a qualitative approach with field observation for two weeks (15-29 December 2025), including in-depth interviews with 5 employees and 2 community informants, plus data triangulation from attendance records and performance reports, it was analyzed thematically. The results revealed attendance increased to 95%, absenteeism decreased by 2%, and work output increased from 50 to 65 permit documents each week. Quotes such as "Direct supervision motivates me" (Employee A, 2025) affirm the preventive role of Waskat, despite obstacles such as over-tasking, in line with Fauzan (2024) on civil servant governance. The discussion highlighted Waskat as a tool for local bureaucratic reform. This conclusion affirms the effectiveness of Waskat in improving performance, recommending humanistic and digital adaptation. Policy implications for local governments, with suggestions for future studies using a larger sample.

Abstract

The low quality of Dasawisma administrative management remains a major challenge in supporting the effectiveness of the Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK) programs at the community level. This problem is characterized by poorly organized family data records, weak documentation of activities, and limited understanding among administrators regarding the strategic role of administration as a basis for planning and decision-making. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to improve the quality of Dasawisma administration through collaboration between higher education institutions and Dasawisma groups as an effort to strengthen community organizational governance. The method employed is a participatory community organizing approach, encompassing stages of joint planning, technical administrative assistance, training, and reflective evaluation. The results indicate an improvement in administrators' understanding and skills in managing administrative tasks, the establishment of more systematic data and activity recording systems, and increased participation and organizational ownership among Dasawisma members. Furthermore, the program encouraged the emergence of local leadership and collective awareness of the importance of as an instrument for institutional strengthening. Overall, collaboration with higher education institutions proved effective in promoting sustainable improvements in Dasawisma administrative governance.

Abstract

Stunting is a major public health problem that has long-term impacts on the quality of human resources, affecting physical growth, cognitive development, and socio-economic outcomes. The Indonesian government has identified the acceleration of stunting reduction as a national priority, requiring cross-sector collaboration and active community participation. This article aims to describe the implementation and outcomes of a Community Service Program (Community Service) based on a collaborative approach to support stunting reduction efforts in Kelurahan Laksamana. The program employed a participatory method through health education, interactive discussions, and partnership strengthening among the community, health workers, and educational institutions. The results indicate an increased level of community awareness and understanding regarding stunting, the importance of routine health check-ups, and the role of families in stunting prevention. Furthermore, the program strengthened partnerships and enhanced community trust in local health services. This community service activity contributes positively to building collective awareness and serves as a strategic initial step toward sustainable stunting reduction at the local level.

Abstract

Public health is a fundamental pillar of regional development as it directly affects the quality of life, productivity, and social welfare of the community. At the local level, the village head (lurah) plays a strategic role in encouraging community participation and coordinating public health programs. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to analyze the role of the village head in improving public health through a public administration approach in Bumi Ayu Subdistrict, Dumai City. The methods applied in this program include counseling, training, simulation, and free health screening services using an educational approach. The activity was conducted on July 20, 2024, at STIA Lancang Kuning Campus and involved more than 100 participants from various community groups. The results indicate an increased public awareness of the importance of regular health check-ups and early detection of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, and uric acid disorders. In addition, the program strengthened the roles of the village heads, Posyandu cadres, and PKK members in supporting community health services. The discussion reveals that the success of public health programs at the subdistrict level is strongly influenced by participatory, collaborative, and responsive local leadership. This PKM activity is expected to serve as a model for strengthening the role of local government in promoting sustainable community health development.

Abstract

Jerawat (Acne vulgaris) merupakan masalah dermatologis yang sangat umum pada remaja, dengan prevalensi tinggi di Indonesia. Minimnya pengetahuan tentang perawatan kulit yang tepat, termasuk pemilihan dan penggunaan produk seperti masker peel off, sering menyebabkan penanganan yang tidak optimal dan berisiko iritasi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas metode penyuluhan yang dikombinasikan dengan demonstrasi langsung dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan praktis siswa SMA mengenai pencegahan jerawat menggunakan masker peel off. Metode yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan kesehatan partisipatif, terdiri dari sesi ceramah interaktif, demonstrasi oleh ahli, dan praktik langsung pembuatan serta aplikasi masker peel off berbahan alami (seperti green tea dan lidah buaya). Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 1 Medang Deras dengan peserta sebanyak 35 siswa kelas XI. Evaluasi pengetahuan dilakukan melalui kuesioner pre-test dan post-test. Hasil analisis menunjukkan peningkatan skor pengetahuan peserta yang signifikan. Rata-rata skor pre-test adalah 52.4 (dari skala 100), meningkat menjadi 84.7 pada post-test. Seluruh peserta (100%) juga berhasil mendemonstrasikan langkah-langkah aplikasi dan pelepasan masker peel off dengan benar pada sesi praktik. Kombinasi penyampaian materi dengan pengalaman praktik langsung terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual dan keterampilan motorik terkait perawatan kulit. Penyuluhan dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan demonstrasi efektif meningkatkan literasi kesehatan kulit remaja mengenai pencegahan jerawat, yang diharapkan dapat mendorong perilaku perawatan kulit yang lebih aman dan mandiri.

Abstract

Kader kesehatan memiliki kerentanan tinggi terhadap paparan Tuberkulosis (TBC), yang disebabkan oleh infeksi Mycobacterium tuberculosis dan menular melalui percikan dahak penderita. Risiko ini semakin meningkat karena kader sering berinteraksi langsung dengan pasien saat memberikan edukasi maupun pelayanan kesehatan di puskesmas. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengidentifikasi tingkat risiko infeksi TBC pada kader kesehatan di Puskesmas Deli Tua, (2) menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya, serta (3) mengevaluasi strategi pencegahan melalui edukasi dan pemeriksaan laboratorium. Metode yang digunakan mencakup pelatihan kader guna meningkatkan kewaspadaan, serta penerapan Tes Cepat Molekuler (TCM) yang mampu mempercepat dan meningkatkan akurasi pemeriksaan TBC dibandingkan metode mikroskopis konvensional. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap kader dalam pencegahan infeksi, sementara TCM terbukti efektif dalam mempercepat diagnosis TBC sehingga pengobatan dapat segera diberikan. Dengan demikian, kegiatan ini tidak hanya memperkuat kapasitas kader kesehatan, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada upaya penanggulangan TBC di masyarakat.

Abstract

Penyakit stroke adalah salah satu salah satu kondisi medis yang memiliki dampak besar terhadap kualitas hidup penderitanya. Stroke terjadi akibat gangguan aliran darah ke otak yang bisa menyebabkan kerusakan permanen pada jaringan otak. Dampak yang ditimbulkan oleh stroke acapkali berupa kelumpuhan, gangguan bicara, penurunan fungsi motorik, dan masalah lainnya yang sangat mempengaruhi kehidupan sehari-hari pasien. Data dari World Health Organization (WHO) menunjukkan bahwa stroke adalah penyebab utama kecacatan fisik dan kematian di seluruh dunia, termasuk di Indonesia. Angka kejadian stroke yang tinggi di Indonesia menuntut perhatian lebih dalam hal penanganan dan pemulihan pasca-stroke.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of religious moderation as an effort to foster students' tolerance at SMK Negeri 3 Panyabungan. The background of this research is based on Indonesia's high level of religious diversity, which has the potential to trigger conflict if not accompanied by mutual respect, thus requiring an educational approach that instills tolerance values from an early age. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that religious moderation in the school environment is implemented through classroom learning, teachers' role modeling, inclusive school policies, extracurricular activities, and social interactions among students that emphasize fairness, respect for differences, and togetherness. This implementation has proven effective in fostering students' tolerance, as reflected in the freedom to practice worship, cooperation across religious backgrounds, and the creation of harmonious social relationships. Therefore, religious moderation can be regarded as an effective character education strategy in building students' tolerance and creating a peaceful, inclusive, and diversity-respecting educational environment

Abstract

Postpartum visits by independent midwives play a critical role in initiating and sustaining exclusive breastfeeding. However, operational and institutional barriers may compromise their effectiveness, particularly in semi‑urban and rural settings such as Deli Tua District. This study examined the association between these barriers and exclusive breastfeeding practices among mothers in Deli Tua. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted in 2025, involving all independent midwives in the district (n = 85) and a purposive sample of 120 postpartum mothers (1-6 weeks post-delivery). Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through Chi-Square tests and multivariate logistic regression at a 95% confidence level. Key barriers negatively associated with exclusive breastfeeding included lack of government incentives (OR = 0.23; 95% CI: 0.09-0.61; p = 0.004), excessive workload and fatigue (OR = 0.33; 95% CI: 0.14-0.78; p = 0.013), high operational costs (OR = 0.38; 95% CI: 0.17-0.83; p = 0.015), and limited time for visits (OR = 0.43; 95% CI: 0.19-0.96; p = 0.043). Conversely, institutional support from health centers significantly increased the likelihood of breastfeeding success (OR = 2.01; 95% CI: 1.01-4.01; p = 0.046). Socio-cultural factors such as stigma and customary practices showed no significant association. To enhance the effectiveness of postpartum care and promote exclusive breastfeeding, the study recommends implementing performance-based incentives, reducing workload burdens, providing financial subsidies, and establishing standardized visit-time guidelines. Strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration and resource allocation is essential to improve service delivery and breastfeeding outcomes. Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) often face health problems such as overcrowding, poor sanitation, and low awareness of clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS). This community service program aimed to improve students’ knowledge and skills in managing health at Pondok Pesantren Alam Indonesia, Barru Regency, through a Training of Trainer (ToT) approach. The program, conducted by the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University, involved 52 students from junior and vocational levels. Activities included lectures, group discussions, practical sessions, and knowledge tests with 40 questions. Results showed that most students achieved good (34.62%) and fair (30.77%) knowledge levels and improved healthy habits such as eating fruits and vegetables, drinking enough water, and exercising regularly. The program effectively increased students’ awareness and skills in health management and strengthened cooperation between the pesantren and the local government.
