Abstract

Abstract

Trichoderma asperellum is recognized as an effective biocontrol agent and plant growth promoter, playing a vital role in sustainable agriculture. To enhance the efficacy of Trichoderma formulations, ecoenzyme supplementation has been proposed as a promising approach. This study investigated the effect of ecoenzyme supplementation on the spore count of corn-based Trichoderma asperellum formulations. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was employed with five treatments and five replicates, and spore counts were assessed under varying concentrations of ecoenzyme (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%). The results indicated that a 60% ecoenzyme concentration significantly increased the spore count, reaching a maximum of 252.32 × 10⁶ spores. However, higher concentrations (80%) resulted in a decreased spore count (174.88 × 10⁶), which was similar to that of the control (172.6 × 10⁶), likely due to toxic effects or nutrient imbalances. These findings highlight the importance of selecting the optimal ecoenzyme concentration to maximize the spore count of Trichoderma asperellum, thereby contributing to more effective biocontrol and biofertilizer applications in sustainable agricultural practices.

Abstract

Biofertilizer is a fertilizer that contains microorganisms that increase plant fertility and reduce environmental pollution. One of the microorganisms that can be used as a biofertilizer is Trichoderma asperellum. Trichoderma can be cultured in several growth media, one of which is bran. In an effort to extend the shelf life of Trichoderma, glycerol is added as a stabilizer. This research aims to see how the addition of glycerol affects the shelf life of Trichoderma asperellum. This reserach is experimental research. Data were analyzed  using a completely randomized design (RAL). The treatment given in this research was by adding glycerol to the T. asperellum growth medium. T. asperellum cultures which were cultured in liquid bran-based media which were given glycerol and which not given glycerol were observed for spore growth, then the spore density was counted using a haemocytometer every 15 days. The research results obtained were that T. asperellum was able to survive in the growth medium for 45 days and had no real effect because it was unable to maintain the number of T. asperellum spores.

Abstract

Improving rice productivity is a key priority to meet the increasing national food demand. This study aims to examine the effect of ecoenzyme addition to a Trichoderma asperellum-based corn medium on the biomass of rice seedlings of the Bujang Marantau variety. The research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five ecoenzyme concentration treatments (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%) and five replications. Parameters observed were fresh weight and dry weight of seedlings after 14 days of treatment. Data were analyzed using ANOVA at a 5% significance level and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). The results showed that ecoenzyme application did not significantly affect the fresh or dry weight of the rice seedlings. The highest fresh weight was found at 20% concentration, while the highest dry weight was at 80%. It is concluded that ecoenzyme has not demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing seedling biomass during the early growth stage, possibly because seedlings still rely on internal food reserves. The findings suggest that ecoenzyme may be more suitable for improving soil quality rather than directly stimulating early plant growth. Further research is recommended to optimize dosage, application methods, and appropriate growth stages for maximum benefit.

Abstract

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a high-value horticultural crop widely used as fresh vegetables, processed food ingredients, and cosmetic products. In addition, cucumber contains important nutrients for health, such as vitamin C, vitamin K, and various essential minerals. As a plant with many benefits, cucumber is greatly influenced by climatic conditions, which can directly affect productivity and harvest quality. Based on this, a study on the phenology of cucumber plants under two different climatic conditions was conducted. This study used an experimental method involving 20 cucumber plants, with two location treatments and two replications. The observed parameters included the time of flower emergence and flowering duration. The study was conducted from September to December 2024 at two locations, Kamang Magek and Padang. The data were analyzed using a t-test with a significance level of 5%. The results of the study showed significant phenological differences between cucumber plants grown in Kamang Magek and Padang. Plants in Kamang Magek went through generative phases earlier, marked by earlier flower emergence, which occurred on day 25.4 after planting, compared to day 29.45 in Padang. The flowering duration in Kamang Magek was also shorter, lasting 7.9 days, compared to 10.55 days in Padang. These findings indicate that differences in climatic conditions between the two locations have a significant impact on the phenological development of cucumber plants.

Abstract

Ecoenzyme is a fermented liquid product containing lactic acid bacteria in fruits and vegetables. Nutrients derived from ecoenzymes such as nitrogen are used for growth. This study evaluated the effect of ecoenzyme administration on the number of Trichoderma asperellum spores in brown glutinous rice medium. Trichoderma asperellum is known as a beneficial fungus in the decomposition of solid waste and the enhancement of plant growth. The use of medium made from brown glutinous rice was tested as an alternative to Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA), with the addition of ecoenzyme as an additional nutrient. This study used a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with six treatments and five repeats. The treatment given is the addition of ecoenzyme concentrations of 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, and 100%. Data was analyzed using fingerprints and follow-up tests with DNMRT at an error rate of 5%. Observation of the number of spores is carried out at the age of 60 days by dilution and hemasitometer. The results showed that the 60% ecoenzyme concentration had the highest average spore count and was different from the 0% control. In contrast, the 20% concentration had the lowest average and was the same as the controls. Giving ecoenzyme to brown glutinous rice medium can increase the number of Trichoderma asperellum spores.

Abstract

Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) are a part of forest ecosystem which have various roles, both in the natural environment and in human life. The NTFPs usually used as the basis for alternative economic value of a forest, and the demand for NTFPs are related to forest management. Plants are often  used as NTFPs, and the highest demand of the products is handicraft that are bought and sold across economic centers, but the detail information about the NTFPs and their derivative products in those capital areas are less known. This research investigates the use of NTFPs for craft products in Padang Panjang City, West Sumatra, Data on plant species, the derivate craft products, the part of plant used, sizes, water content, the demand for raw material for each product, place of origin, and the prices were colleted directly to all three existing craft shops in Padang Panjang City. Four plant species were found for making 17 types of craft products, namely bamboo (Bambusa spp.), rattan (Calamus spp.), coconut (Cocos nucifera L.), and pandan (Pandanus spp.). The most craft products was made from rattan, and the most part of plants used was the stem, which less than 30 mm in size, and below 14% in water content. Coconut and Pandan was found as fruit and leaves. Only two of 17 products were made locally in Padang Panjang.  The results of this research show that rattan as a type of NTFPs that mostly commercialized for craft products in Padang Panjang City. This data can be used for communities living at forest adjacent around Padang Panjang City on extracting the NTFPs.
