Abstract

Jatimbulan tilapia has the potential to be developed in Indonesia because it is easy to cultivate. The use of anesthetics in the dry transportation process and medical examination of fish often uses clove oil because it is cheap and easy to obtain. This research was conducted to determine the effect of using clove oil as an anesthetic on the swim bladder and heart rate. 35 adult Jatimbulan tilapia fish, 4 months old, male, were divided into 7 treatment groups, namely control (P1), clove oil anesthesia induction dose of 20 ppm (P2), 30 ppm (P3), 40 ppm (P4), 50 ppm ( P5), 60 ppm (P6) and 70 ppm (P7). The swimming pool measurement method uses lateral projection radiography imaging and echocardiography to measure heart rate. The results of the Tukey test showed that there was no difference in the average length of the swim bladder for each group, while the doses of P5 (50 ppm) and P6 (60 ppm) caused an increase in the width of the swim bladder compared to P1 (control) and P2 (20 ppm). Group P7 (70 ppm) had the lowest average heart rate compared to all groups, namely 49 ± 3.69 times per minute. The conclusion of this research is that the use of clove oil at a dose of 20-70 ppm for anesthesia of Jatimbulan tilapia does not affect the dimensions and structure of the swim bladder, but it is necessary to anticipate a decrease in heart rate that occurs with increasing doses.

Abstract

Indonesia's. Setail River is one of the longest rivers in Banyuwangi Regency. Setail River has high potential for fishery biodiversity. One of the fish that is often found in Setail River is Barred loach or known locally as Uceng Fish (Nemacheilus fasciatus). The purpose of this study was to determine the morphological characteristics and determine the relationship between length, weight and condition of Uceng fish in Setail River. Observation of color patterns and special characteristics of sample fish morphologically Nemacheilus fasciatus with characteristics including Having a brown body color, a small elongated body (fusiform). On the body there is a longitudinal black spot pattern, a dorsal pattern resembling a saddle, a homocercal tail fin type, an emarginate tail morphology (slightly concave). The type of mouth is subterminal inferior and has 3 pairs of barbels. Meristic observations of uceng fish have pectoral fins, pelvic fins, dorsal fins, tail fins and anal fins. In this study, an analysis of the relationship between length and weight showed that the growth pattern of the uceng fish was negative allometric and the condition factor obtained the range of condition factor values for male uceng fish during the study at each station for male uceng fish 0.68-1.35 and female uceng fish 0.68-1.40.

Abstract

Shrimp aquaculture wastewater after the end of the rearing period has a high total organic matter (TOM) content of up to 87.74 mg/L. If the wastewater is disposed of directly without any efforts to reduce or treatment, it will disturb public waters ecosystem because of the high organic matter. The aim of this study was to determine the rate of reduce of organic matter in pond aquaculture waste. The study was carried out in January 2021. Pond wastewater samples were taken from the Tambak at the end of the maintenance period (120 days of maintenance). The trademarks of the bacterial consortium are EM4, Bio HS, BIO Prisma, Starbio plus, BIO2000, and Biolet. The experimental research was arranged in a completely randomized design with 6 treatments and 4 replications. Each treatment was filled with 2 liters of wastewater plus 6 ml of a liquid bacterial consortium. As for the solid bacterial consortium, 1 gram/L was added. Measurements of total organic matter, temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, salinity and carbon dioxide were carried out every 24 hours for 72 hours of observation. The results showed that during 72 hours of immersion the highest percent reduction in organic matter was in treatment E (BIO 2000) of 95% (87.74 mg/L to 4.11 mg/L). The lowest percentage decrease was in treatment D (Starbio plus) of 83.4% (87.74 mg/L to 14.54 mg/L). However, in general 6 types of bacterial consortium trademarks can degrade organic matter. The levels of temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and salinity are in optimum conditions, while carbon dioxide exceeds the threshold caused by the high activity of overhauling organic matter by bacteria. The conclusion was obtained that the trademark of the bacterial consortium BIO2000 was the most effective in reducing organic matter for 72 hours.
