Abstract

Wastewater from vaname shrimp culture with a semi biofloc system, was used for milkfish cultivation without additional feed. Fish seeds are stocked 4000 with 18 days of age. The Milkfish pond is 2000 m2, the water level is 0,7 m. Water quality was observed 2 months cultivation. Water samples were taken everyweeks around 9 am, from March to April 2022. During the research, temperature, brightness, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2 and salinity were relatively stable, except for nitrate and phosphate levels. First observation the levels of nitrate were 0,059 mg/l and phosphate was 0,064 mg/l. When the fish were 2,5 months, nitrate levels increased by 425,4% to 0,31 mg/l and phosphate increased by 479,7% to 0,371 mg/l. This increase is thought the addition of residual water from vannamei shrimp cultivation, so that the pond water level becomes 80 cm. Observation of milkfish at the age of 3 months, nitrate levels decreased 42,6% to 0,178 mg/l and phosphate decreased 8,4% to 0,34 mg/l. This decreasing is thought because nitrate and phosphate are used as a source of nutrients for phytoplankton. The milkfish are 3,5 months, the nitrate level decreases by 58,4% to 0,074 mg/l, but the phosphate level increases by 8,24% to 0,368 mg/l. The increase in phosphate is thought to be from the decomposition of fish feces. And the decreasing of nitrate because used as a source of nutrients for phytoplankton. Water quality monitoring must be carried out regularly, to preserve pond water quality.

Abstract

Mystus gulio is a local fish that can open up opportunities for the community. Pollution causes water quality to decrease. Fish are an important indicator in the aquatic environment, Histological analysis can be said to have a function as a natural biological sign to determine the health condition of fish which can be seen from changes in tissue structure in organs exposed to pollutants. Organs that’s vulnerable to water pollution is kidneys.  Kidney tissue is susceptible to damage because kidneys function as a means of filtration and excretion, The method used in this research is descriptive method. Fish were caught from river than dissected to remove the kidneys for histopathological analysis using the HE method, analyzed using the scoring method. The results obtained in both rivers were that fish kidneys caught in the Gembong River were categorized as moderately damaged, while fish kidneys caught from the Rejoso River were categorized as lightly damaged. This is in line with the results of the heavy metal lead from both rivers. Where the yield of lead in fish kidneys caught from the Gembong is on average higher than the yield from fish kidneys caught from the Rejoso.

Abstract

Keting fish is a type of fish from freshwater which is usually used as a consumption fish or ornamental fish. There is a type of kein, namely from the species Mystus gulio (Hamilton, 1922). Mystus gulio ecosystem is disturbed due to land-use change activities in the river which causes the disturbance of the habitat of Mystus gulio. The purpose of this study is to analyze the long-weight relationship, growth pattern, and condition factors of Mystus gulio in downstream Gembong and  Rejoso River. The method used in this study is to sample Mystus gulio from 3 stations on each river based on land use criteria. The research was carried out for 3 months, namely August, September and October 2023. The results of this study show that Mystus gulio caught in these two rivers all have a negative allometric growth pattern (b<3). The average value of the condition factor in these two rivers is 1 which indicates that the condition of Mystus gulio is good. The average growth of Mystus gulio caught in Gembong is relatively larger than Rejoso. The waters quality results of Gembong and Rejoso are still in optimal condition, except for Total Suspended Solid and Lead (Pb).

Abstract

Accumulated the toxic compound such as lead in A. woodiana caused an alteration in tissue. The aim of the present study is observation through histology to determine the alteration of the structure of digestive diverticulum tissue. A. woodiana were maintained in water tub that treated lead II nitrate exposure (Pb(NO3)2) 0, 15, 25, 35 mgL-1 for 7 days to determine the alteration of the structure of damaged the digestive diverticulum and determining water quality such temperature, DO and pH. The highest damage occurs in digestive diverticulum treated 35 mgL-1  due to the many alteration tissue structure such as hyperplasia, edema, atrophy, necrosis with the percentage of total damage of about 35%. the lowest alteration tissue structure occurs in 15 mgL-1 treatment group of the digestive diverticulum. the temperature was observed at about 25.3 - 26.4°C, pH about 6-7, and DO about 6.1-6.7 mgL-1. Thus, the increment of lead dose treatment induces increment of tissue structure alteration in digestive diverticula tissue, therefore, might promote the death of Anodonta woodiana. Abstract

The concentration of three heavy metals Pb, Cd and Hg ware measured in Bone River, Gorontalo sediment. The heavy metal pollution on sediment in Bone River have not been explored longitudinally. The samples were taken in July 2021 at 8 stations. The trend of metals ware observed in sediment as PbCdHg. The level of studied metals Cd and Hg did not exceed the safe limit by ANZECC, OSQG LEL and CCME TEL meanwhile Pb was met the limit by by ANZECC. However, the investigated showed that fluctuations due to differences in the characteristics of each location. Contamination factor (CF) and geoaccumulation index (Igeo) demonstrated that the sediment samples were low contamination and lightly polluted. Contamination by heavy metals in the Bone River implies that the conditions are much frightening for the biota and residents around the river.

Abstract

Cultivators increase production using intensive cultivation which applies stocking densities and feeding in high quantities, which triggers a decrease in water quality, both cultivation water and cultivation wastewater because it contains high levels of organic matter. Changes in water quality have an impact on plankton community structure. This research aims to determine the dynamics of the physical, chemical, and biological quality of cultivation media water and the disposal of vaname shrimp cultivation waste in Ujungpangkah District, Gresik Regency. The research was conducted in January 2023 using a survey method. Water and plankton samples were taken from reservoirs, ponds, and pond waste disposal sites. Sampling was carried out in vaname shrimp cultivation ponds in the Coastal Area of Ujungpangkah District, Gresik Regency. The physical and chemical quality of water has a pattern of changes up and down but is relatively the same and stable every week. All of these water quality parameters show a pattern of change that is quite good for the growth of vaname shrimp, but in waste disposal, the parameters for nitrate, phosphate, ammonia, and TOM are above the quality standards. The highest abundance of plankton is in waste dumps, with the highest phytoplankton coming from the Bacillariophyta phylum (49%), while zooplankton comes from the Rotifera phylum (54%). Regular monitoring of water quality in ponds and waste disposal sites is required so that it remains stable and safe for the environment.
