Abstract

Tuberculosis, primarily affecting the lungs and other organs, was the leading cause of death worldwide before the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to be a significant health concern. This research examined tuberculosis (TB) using a panel dataset. As a consequence, the datasets may contain outliers and contemporaneous correlations. A Robust Least Median of Square (LMS) model was developed in this research by combining Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SUR) with Generalized Least Square (GLS) on panel data to provide an analysis overview to overcome outliers and contemporaneous correlations. Based on secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics of the Gorontalo Province and the Ministry of Health of the Gorontalo Province, this research examines TB cases between 2017 and 2021. The Chow test result suggests that CEM is the most appropriate model for analyzing panel data for TB cases in Gorontalo Province between 2017 and 2021. Due to the presence of outliers and influential observations in the data, robust LMS is employed. Furthermore, there is a problem of contemporaneous correlation in this research. Each regency or city can mitigate this problem by implementing robust LMS using SUR with GLS.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has led to various types of technological crimes. One solution to secure messages is by using cryptographic and steganographic techniques. This research combined the Rivest Code 6 (RC6) cryptographic algorithm and the Least Significant Bit (LSB) steganographic algorithm to enhance message security. The study analyzed changes in an image embedded with a message and sent through applications such a WhatsApp, Telegram, and E-mail. The final result show that the image embedded with the message does not undergo significant changes. However, stego images sent directly via WhatsApp and Telegram experience size alterations, which cause the embedded messages to become corrupted. Meanwhile, stego images sent as documents retain their size, allowing the message to remain intact. Additionally, stego images sent via E-mail, either as attachments or directly, do not experience size changes, and the embedded messages can be fully retrieved.

Abstract

Graph Coloring is the process of assigning colors to vertices such that no adjacent vertices share the same color, using the minimal number of colors possible. This study aims to implement graph coloring to the map of North Gorontalo Regency, which consists of 11 sub-districts and 123 villages, utilizing the D’Satur and Backtracking algorithms. It also compares the algorithms in terms of the smallest chromatic number and identifies strategic points in North Gorontalo Regency, particularly in sub-districts, based on the number of adjacent vertices. The study employed a case study method to gather information, specifically the map of North Gorontalo Regency. The results demonstrate that graph coloring of the map utilizing the D’Satur algorithm produces a chromatic number of (χ = 3) for sub-districts and (χ = 5) for villages. Meanwhile, the Backtracking algorithm yields a chromatic number of (χ = 3) for districts and (χ = 4) for villages. Thus, for sub-district coloring, both algorithms yield the same chromatic number. However, the Backtracking algorithm performs better for village coloring, as it produces the smallest chromatic number. The identified strategic sub-district is Kwandang, which has the highest degree of 4.

Abstract

This research aims to reformulate and generalize Van Aubel’s Theorem using a complex number approach. Classically, Van Aubel’s Theorem states that if squares are constructed externally on the sides of an arbitrary quadrilateral, then the line segments connecting the centers of opposite squares are congruent and perpendicular to each other. Through a complex algebra approach, this research systematically reconstructs the proof of the theorem and extends its application to more complex geometric forms. The representation of points, rotations, and lines in the complex plane is employed to reprove and develop generalizations of the theorem. The results demonstrate that the use of complex numbers facilitates geometric analysis and reveals new patterns in geometric relationships. This research contributes to the advancement of modern geometry through algebraic methods and opens opportunities for further exploration of complex numbers in solving other geometric problems.

Abstract

Geometry is a branch of mathematics that focuses on studying the characteristics of flat and spatial structures. One of the most well-known standard flat structures is the circle. Additionally, there are triangles formed by the intersection of three line segments. This study discusses the proofs of two theorems related to circles and triangles: the radius of the circumcircle of a triangle and Heron’s theorem. Heron’s theorem is used to determine the area of an arbitrary triangle. Unlike the conventional synthetic geometry approach, this article employs an alternative method, namely complex numbers, to prove these two central theorems.
