Abstract

Preeclampsia is a multisystem complication that occurs after 20 weeks of gestation. In recent years there has been no significant decrease in the incidence of preeclampsia, even in developed countries it is still the main cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. This study aims to analyze differences in individual characteristics, lifestyle (physical activity), nutritional status and diet in pregnant women with a history of preeclampsia. This research design is descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. Samples were obtained from 55 pregnant women with consecutive sampling who met the inclusion criteria. Data analysis used chi-square test and spearman correlation test. The results showed a relationship between physical activity with systolic blood pressure (p value 0.001, r = 0.449) and diastolic (p value 0.43, r = 0.273), there was also a relationship between diet and risk factors for preeclampsia through blood pressure measurements as evidenced by increase in blood pressure (p value 0.000) in pregnant women in the working area of Puskesmas Kedungkandang Malang. The results of this study are expected to be used as a reference in intervening pregnant women at risk of preeclampsia, so that the disease does not develop more severely so that it does not endanger the lives of the mother and the fetus she is carrying.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic impacts both the access and quality of health services resulting in many restrictions on almost all routine services—the coverage of antenatal care visits in Indonesian public health centers decreases. Research on the factors affecting antenatal care visits of pregnant women during the Covid-19 pandemic in the eastern Indonesian population is currently limited. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting ANC visits of pregnant women during the covid-19 pandemic. This research implements a cross-sectional design by conducting the study on the coverage area of Pondidaha Health Center, Konawe, in January 2021. Respondents fulfilling the criteria included pregnant women residing in Konawe, experiencing the third trimester of pregnancy (28−40 weeks), having a personal Maternal-Child Health book, and recording the pregnancy visit at Pondidaha Public Health Center or Integrated healthcare center. The exclusion criteria included a mother who did not complete the questionnaires. The data analysis implements the Spearman rank test. Forty-six respondents participating in this study (with most of Pondidaha's pregnant women) were found to have incomplete ANC visits. Factors affecting incomplete ANC visits included knowledge, attitude, health care system, and health workers' support. The result indicated that the level of knowledge, mothers' attitude, healthcare, and health workers' support significantly indicated the positive outcome of ANC visits during the COVID-19 pandemic. In conclusion, the level of knowledge exhibited the highest correlation to the obedience of ANC visits.

The nurses are required to keep their caring and professional work. Providing health care for criminals puts the nurses into a risky working environment. They are susceptible to physical and psychological aggressions that can influence their practices and their applied nursing care quality. The objective of this research is to explore the general hospital nurses' experience in providing health care for the criminals. This is qualitative method research with a phenomenological approach. The data collection was done by a deep interview for 10 nurses. The applied data analysis is the Interpretative Analysis Phenomenology (IPA). The six themes found in the research are: 1) feeling discomfort in working, 2) experiencing emotional conflict, 3) working in an unsafe environment, 4) having difficulties in creating a therapeutic relationship, 5) unnatural caring emergence, and 6) not wanting the police officers to get involved in treating the patients. The security and emotional feeling factors of the nurses become the greatest challenges. They make the nurses difficult to create a therapeutic relationship and lead to unnatural caring committed by the nurses. Therefore, it is important for the nurses to internalize and reflect sincere caring as the essential principles in the nursing profession. Thus, it can reach the objectives of nursing, service equality, and patient recovery.

The results of the comparison of the use of sanitary napkins, tampons, and menstrual cups in terms of hygiene and safety, environmental impact, and effectiveness showed that menstrual cups were superior to the other two products. In conclusion, the alternatives menstrual sanitation tools besides sanitary napkins are tampons and menstrual cups.  This paper can be the basis for further research using different research designs to obtain more complete data.

Abstract

Low birth weight (LBW) is influenced by various factors, such as maternal education, gestational age, maternal nutritional status, and economic level. The high pregnancy rate in adolescent mothers is in line with pregnancy complications experienced, one of which is giving birth to LBW babies. The aim of this study was to analyze the risk factors most associated with the incidence of LBW babies in mothers aged less than 20 years old in Wagir District, Malang Regency. The data collection method was used cross-sectional. The inclusion criteria in this study were mothers who were less than 20 years old, had given birth to a baby with LBW, and were domiciled in Wagir District. The data was analysed by logistic regression test. A total of 106 respondents participated in this study. The results showed that the factors that were significantly related were nutritional status (p-value 0.012), economic level (p-value 0.030), and gestational age (p-value 0.046). The dominant factor was nutritional status (p-value 0,012; OR 0,666). Nutritional status is the most influential thing for the health of both mother and baby, so the role of health workers in educating women during the preconception period regarding nutrition and the risk of pregnancy is essential.
