Abstract

The This study aims to explore the implementation of online learning of Teaching Skills and Microteaching courses, focusing on three main aspects: preparation, implementation, and evaluation of learning. This study also considers the challenges that arise due to student involvement in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, which often affects the consistency of their participation in regular learning. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method with a case study design. The results showed that online learning was quite effective in conveying teaching skills theory through digital materials and asynchronous activities. However, teaching practice simulations faced several limitations, such as the difficulty of observing non-verbal elements, classroom management, and spontaneous responses of students during online simulations. Technical constraints, especially unstable internet connections, were also major obstacles in implementing learning. In addition, students involved in MBKM reported difficulties in dividing time between program assignments and regular course preparation, which impacted their participation and engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Influence of Students' Self-Confidence and Emotional Intelligence on Learning Outcomes in the Basics of Office Management and Business Services at SMK Ketintang Surabaya. The research method used is a quantitative approach. The population involved in this study were all students of class X MP (Office Management) as many as 176 students, with a sample of 176 students determined using a saturated sample technique to obtain comprehensive results. The data analysis used was multiple linear regression analysis to test the extent to which the independent variables (self-confidence and emotional intelligence) affect the dependent variable (learning outcomes). The results showed that self-confidence had a significant effect on learning outcomes with a regression coefficient of 0.108, while emotional intelligence had a stronger effect with a coefficient of 0.124. Together, the two variables contributed 49.4% to the learning outcome variable, the rest of which was influenced by other factors not included in this study. This finding indicates that although both factors have a positive influence, emotional intelligence plays a more dominant role in improving students' academic achievement. The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between self-confidence and emotional intelligence with learning outcomes, so schools are advised to develop programs to strengthen students' psychological aspects to support learning success, both partially and simultaneously.

Abstract

This study examines the development of an e-book based on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach in public administration learning materials, evaluates its feasibility, and analyzes students’ responses to the developed product. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the IDI procedural model (Instructional, Development, and Institute), which consists of three main stages: define, develop, and evaluate. The research data included the developed e-book product and quality assessment results obtained through expert validation sheets and student response questionnaires. Product validation was conducted by design experts, material experts, and linguists using a scoring scale of 0–100, while student responses were collected through interviews. The validation results showed that the average score from design experts was 73.25%, indicating that the e-book is valid and feasible. The material experts’ evaluation yielded an average score of 83.12%, categorized as valid and feasible, while linguists provided an average score of 92.25%, indicating a very feasible product. Overall, the combined validation score reached 84.3%, confirming that the e-book is valid and suitable for use. This finding is further supported by student response results, which showed an average score of 93.5%, demonstrating that the developed digital book is highly feasible and well received for learning purposes.

Abstract

Abstract

This research endeavors to empirically examine the mediating role of the gender diversity issue in influencing the effect of communication skills and technology utilization on readiness for becoming a teacher. The study targeted final-year education students at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). A quantitative explanatory approach was employed, utilizing the Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Square (PLS-SEM). Data were systematically collected via questionnaires administered to a sample of 132 respondents, determined using a proportional purposive sampling technique based on the criteria of having completed the teaching practice program and having an interest in becoming a teacher. It was established that both communication skills and technology utilization directly and positively impact readiness for becoming a teacher. The key finding centers on the mediating variable, the gender diversity issue, which proved to partially and significantly mediate the effect of communication skills and technology utilization on teacher readiness. This suggests that the technical and communicative competencies of prospective teachers become more effective in enhancing readiness when fortified by sociocultural awareness and sensitivity toward gender diversity issues. The conclusion derived from this study is that developing professional teacher readiness necessitates not only the mastery of pedagogical and technological competencies but also strong integration with inclusive awareness. This research offers a theoretical contribution by positioning the gender diversity issue as a crucial prerequisite that strengthens the dimension of professional readiness in the era of Education 4.0.

Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to develop and assess the feasibility of an audio-based Student Textbook and Lecture Guide for the Business and Office English course in the Office Administration Education Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas negeri Surabaya that address the lack of updated course-aligned teaching materials. Method:  This study used Research and Development approach with ADDIE instructional design model, but the process was limited to the implementation stage after wider-scale trials and revisions.  The product was validated by a material expert and a media expert, followed by student try-outs using questionnaires (small group of 10 students and large group of 40 students from the 2023 cohort). Results: Needs analysis showed the program had no updated textbook aligned with the semester lesson plan; learning relied mainly on lecturer-made PowerPoints and conventional instruction considered less effective for achieving course outcomes.  Expert validation indicated the material aspect was feasible with an average score 67 and the media aspect was highly feasible with average score 86.  Student responses in the large-group trial showed an overall average score of 94 considered as highly feasible, supporting its use as a learning resource. Novelty: This study provides practical evidence that integrating audio-based exercises into a course-specific textbook and lecture guide based on semester lesson plan and Merdeka curriculum highly feasible model for supporting independent practice in Business and Office English for non-English department.
