Abstract

Non-compliance with taking medication in DM patients can reduce a person's quality of life and become the main cause of a number of microvascular problems. Therefore, complex problems related to diabetes are one of the global health problems that must be addressed immediately. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors related to medication compliance in type 2 DM patients. This study used a mixed method study approach or a combination of two types of research, namely quantitative research and qualitative research. The type of mixed method research design used is explanatory sequential design. The sampling method in this study was by proportional sampling. Furthermore, to determine the target sample, a simple random block sampling technique was used, namely 347 DM patients. The results of the analysis showed no significant relationship between gender p-value = 1,000 (> 0.05), education p-value = 0.232 (>, 0.05), knowledge p-value = 0.076 (> 0.05), dxuration of suffering p-value = 0.162 (> 0.05), belief p-value = 0.680 (> 0.05), access to health services p-value = 0.602 (> 0.05), and there was a significant relationship between family support and DM treatment compliance with p-value = 0.020 (<0.05). The conclusion of this study is that more than half of DM patients have low treatment compliance, are female, have low education, have a duration of <5 years, have access to health that takes a long time, and lack of family support. More than half of DM patients have high knowledge and positive beliefs.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Personal hygiene is how a person maintains their body's cleanliness. Orphanages, which are social welfare institutions, tend to have unstable finances and therefore have limited facilities to support personal hygiene. Poor personal hygiene practices can increase the risk of infectious diseases, such as intestinal protozoa infection. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of personal hygiene and the status of intestinal protozoa infection in orphanage children in the Padang City. This study was an analytic study with a cross sectional design conducted at the Special Children Mentawai orphanage, Al Falah orphanage, and Syafri Moesa orphanage from October to November 2023. The results showed that most respondents (67.19%) had a poor level of personal hygiene and the incidence of intestinal protozoa infection was 39.06%. There is a significant relationship between the level of personal hygiene and the status of intestinal protozoa infection in orphanage children in the Padang City.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of a short body based on the height-for-age index. Clean and healthy living behavior is an important behavior that can prevent stunting. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between clean and healthy living behavior and the incidence of stunting in toddlers at the Koto Panjang Ikua Koto Health Center. This study is an observational study with a cross sectional approach, he sampling technique used was proportional sampling with 82 respondents. Data were collected using a microtoise, the maternal and child health book and a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using chi-square and logistic regression test. The results showed a relationship between weighing toddlers and the incidence of stunting (p=0,003), exclusive breastfeeding is related to the incidence of stunting (p=0,009), the habit of washing hands with soap is related to the incidence of stunting (p=0,039), the use of healthy latrines is related to the incidence of stunting (p=0,017), eradication of mosquito larvae is related to the incidence of stunting (p=0,032). The results of the multivariate analysis showed that weighing toddlers had the most dominant relationship with the incidence of stunting (OR:6,376). Concluded that clean and healthy living behavior is significantly associated with the incidence of stunting.

Abstract

Healthcare-associated infections are a global health challenge, not only as a patient safety issue but also as a major driver of antimicrobial resistance. Efforts to prevent and minimize the occurrence of healthcare-associated infections are called infection prevention and control (IPC). The Emergency Department (ED) has the potential for healthcare-associated infections. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge levels and the implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in the Emergency Department of Community Health Centers in Padang City. This study used a mixed method research method, which combines quantitative and qualitative research types in one research activity with an explanatory sequential design. The population in this study were all healthcare workers working in the Emergency Department of the Padang City Community Health Center, with a sample of 55 people. The study was conducted in February 2024. The results found that 69.1% of respondents were under 46 years old, 96.4% were female, and 72.7% had a D3 educational background. A total of 61.8% had high knowledge. Compliance with PPI implementation was recorded at 38.2%. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and compliance with the implementation of PPI, health workers in the Emergency Department of the Community Health Center with high knowledge are 4.25 times more likely to comply with implementing PPI. Recommendations for improving compliance with PPI implementation are to formulate PPI policies, implement PPI education and training, and strengthen the implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.

Abstract

Low Birth Weight (LBW) infants is the highest cause of neonatal death in Indonesia. LBW deaths are related to the baby's outcome which worsens his condition. LBW is grouped based on birth weight into LBW (1500-2499 grams), VLBW (1000-1499 grams), ELBW (<1000 grams), and each group shows a different neonatal outcome. This study aims to look at the profile of the group of low birth weight babies who are hospitalized at RSUP Dr.M.Djamil Padang. This research was a descriptive study by collecting medical record data from January 2018-December 2020. The data collection used total sampling 181 patients which were obtained and analyzed univariately. The results showed that out of 181 babies, 39.8% LBW, 37% VLBW, and 23.2% ELBW were found. Preterm gestational age is mostly in LBW (38.5%). Appropriate for Gestational Age (AGA) condition were mostly in VLBW (43.2%). APGAR scores at the 5th minute were normal mostly in LBW (48.3%). The most common comorbidity in LBW was hyperbilirubinemia (44.2%), in VLBW it was respiratory distress syndrome (45.1%), and in ELBW it was asphyxia (57.7%). Most NICU care was for VLBW (41.9%). Maternal breast milk combined with formula milk is the most common for LBW (49.3%). Most of the length of stay was 8-28 days for LBW (53.3%). Discharge from the hospital with a doctor's permission was mostly found in LBW (57.1%). Low birth weight babies were dominated by preterm gestational age, born at AGA, normal 5th minute APGAR score, had comorbid hyperbilirubinemia, received NICU care, received breastfeeding nutrition, had length of stay for 8-28 days, and discharged from the hospital with a doctor's permission.

Abstract

The increase in the number of health workers by 26% from the previous year was not in line with the increase in program achievements at the Public Health Center (PHC) in the working area of the Pariaman City Health Office which had not yet reached the set targets such as the target for non-communicable disease services (NCD) which on average only reached 37.31% of the target. This is partly due to the low performance of health workers at the public health center. This study aims to analyze the relationship between work attitudes and leadership with the performance of health workers in the Essential Public Health Efforts (PHE) program at the Pariaman City Health Center. This study is quantitative research with a cross sectional approach. Sampling of this study was carried out by proportional random sampling of 89 respondents from a population of 100 health workers. The results showed that work attitude has a significant relationship with officer performance while leadership does not have a significant relationship with health workers performance.  It can be concluded that improving the health workers work attitudes will improve the performance of health workers and improving the leadership of the head of public health center does not improve the performance of the health workers.
