Abstract

The need for a good understanding of economic growth and human capital as a measure of human development is an important concern in national development. Both sectors play an important role in formulating economic development policies and human development as a whole, as evidenced by Indonesia. Therefore, this article empirically analyzes the contribution of economic growth to the human development index in Indonesia. Linear regression analysis of panel data through the Redundant Fixed Effect Model Test approach and the Hausman Test is used to test the extent to which the panel data estimation model can explain the effect of economic growth on human development in Indonesia. These two approaches produce a Fixed Effect Model that shows that the effect of economic growth contributes strongly to human development in Indonesia. Economic growth has a positive and significant impact on the Human Development Index. During the testing period, economic growth showed an increase and a positive direction towards human development, even though the economy was in a state of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Indonesian economy continues to grow strongly in the face of various conditions, including the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as human development continues to show an increase, as evidenced by the human development index, which continues to increase.

Abstract

Abstract (Title: Family and State: Space of Self-Negotiation in "Qui A Tué Mon Père" Novel's by í‰douard Louis). Literary work reflects a culture outside its world. A family cannot be separated from society and country in which it is belonged to. Individuals in a family cannot be disconnected from their genetics. This qualitative descriptive study using Bourdieu's theoretical reference aims to describe the habitus, symbolic violence, and the arena of power in the novel "Qui a tué mon père" or "Who Killed My Father" by í‰douard Louis. The results showed that the habitus manifested through the main character "Je" or "I" was obtained through an individual historical process as someone who was born in a poor and a working family that is structurally dominated by society and state. In conclusion, the main character who experienced symbolic violence not only from his family (father and mother) but also from his social environment (neighbor, school, and government) try to negotiate his identity through this novel.   Keywords: habitus, symbolic violence, arena of power, dialectical, structural-constructivist

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to ascertain how local revenue, investment, and non-oil and gas exports affected economic growth. This study examines economic growth from 2014 to 2023 using data from 34 Indonesian provinces. The selection of the fixed effect model shows that economic growth is highly influenced by investment, local revenue, and non-oil and gas exports. Indonesia's economic recovery is highly dependent on investment in sectors that absorb a lot of labor, ease of business licensing, and security stability so that it can increase local revenue from regional taxes and regional levies. The government must encourage ease of doing business in the regions, reduce levies on mandatory services, regional taxation options between Provinces and Regencies/Cities, and new tax bases.

Abstract

In the 11th century CE, the Islamic world faced a critical period marked by the decline of the Abbasid Caliphate, political fragmentation, and external pressures from non-Muslim powers. The Seljuk Dynasty, originating from the Oghuz Turks, emerged as a transformative force that reshaped the political and social landscape of the Islamic world. Under leaders such as Tughril Beg and Alp Arslan, the Seljuks consolidated power in Persia and Iraq, reinforced the authority of the Abbasid Caliphate, and expanded Islamic influence into Anatolia. The dynasty not only acted as a savior against external threats but also served as an internal unifier through administrative reforms, the establishment of educational institutions (such as the Nizamiyah Madrasahs), and the promotion of scientific development. This article aims to analyze the Seljuk Dynasty’s contributions to the medieval Islamic world, the factors behind their rise, and the dynamics of their eventual decline leading to political fragmentation. Utilizing historical approaches and analysis of primary and secondary sources, this study highlights the crucial role of the Seljuks in shaping classical Islamic civilization.

Abstract

Consumers interact with other consumers and often compare themselves with others. This consumer tendency shows social comparison. Masstige, which stands for prestige for the masses, may involve this case. However, it has received less attention in previous studies. This study examines the consequences of social comparison on price-quality schema, prestige sensitivity, and willingness to purchase a masstige brand. This study also examines the mediation of price-quality schema and prestige sensitivity on the effect of social comparison on willingness to purchase. A consumer survey was conducted to test these effects, and 240 respondents participated. The data in this study were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The analysis results show that social comparison affects price-quality schema and prestige sensitivity and subsequently affects willingness to purchase. This study also found mediation of price-quality schema and prestige sensitivity on the effect of social comparison on willingness to purchase. The above findings indicate that marketers of masstige brands can utilize social comparison to market their products.
