Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop a data-driven decision support system that integrates entropy-based objective weighting with the MARCOS ranking method to improve multi-criteria prioritization in credit risk assessment by enhancing objectivity, consistency, and robustness of decision-making outcomes. Design/methods/approach – A hybrid MCDM framework is proposed, combining entropy weighting to determine criterion importance based on data variability and the MARCOS method to rank alternatives relative to ideal and anti-ideal solutions. The approach is evaluated using the Statlog German Credit dataset consisting of 1,000 applicants and six evaluation criteria. Performance is assessed through comparative analysis with conventional methods (TOPSIS and VIKOR), sensitivity testing under weight perturbation, and stability analysis using Spearman rank correlation. Findings - The results demonstrate that the proposed Entropy–MARCOS framework produces reliable and consistent prioritization outcomes. The model achieves a high ranking stability with a Spearman correlation of 0.91 and outperforms conventional MCDM methods in terms of ranking consistency. The findings also indicate that criteria such as age and employment duration have the highest discriminative importance, and the method remains robust under moderate variations in criterion weights. Research implications/limitations – However, the evaluation is limited to a single dataset and static criteria weights, which may affect generalizability across different domains or dynamic environments. Future research should explore adaptive weighting mechanisms and validate the model on more diverse datasets. Originality/value – This research contributes a unified hybrid framework that combines entropy-based objective weighting with the MARCOS ranking method, providing a more transparent, data-driven, and stable approach for multi-criteria decision-making, particularly in credit risk prioritization contexts.

Abstract

To hide confidential messages from people who are not responsible or who can access the messages, a way is needed to hide the messages. One way to hide messages in transmission is to change the data into something unintelligible by encoding and embedding it using cryptography and steganography techniques. This application was built using the hill cipher algorithm and the Rivest Cipher 4 (RC4) method. This algorithm is a symmetric key algorithm which has several advantages in data encryption. The hill chiper algorithm uses a mxm matrix as the encryption and decryption key. Meanwhile, the RC4 symmetric key is in the form of a stream cipher which can process input data as well as messages or information. Input data is generally in the form of bytes or even bits. The results of this research show that hill cipher and RC4 have their respective advantages and disadvantages. However, currently, RC4 is generally considered less safe for use in security-critical scenarios due to its vulnerability to attack. It is highly recommended to use an encryption algorithm such as advanced encryption standard (AES) which is modern and strong and has been tested and proven to be more resilient.

Abstract

Nowadays people are increasingly inclined to buy motorized vehicles because in addition to a light down payment, finance companies also provide convenience for the public in purchasing motorized vehicles. Even though the income level of the people in Indonesia is still relatively low, with a low down payment, the people are not too concerned about it. Honda showrooms carry out various forms of promotion and marketing so that the vehicles they sell get a response from consumers so they want to buy them. However, in fact there are still many forms of promotion that are not appropriate for consumers, so that in the motor vehicle loan process there are often obstacles caused by various factors. This study aims to create an analyst that can later be applied to computer systems, so that it can be said that by testing the system based on existing criteria, it will provide a definite answer in determining the creditworthiness of motorcycles to consumers.

Abstract

Beaches in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, such as Parangtritis, Depok, Samas, Goa Cemara, and Baru Beaches, attract tourists for their natural beauty, recreational activities like sandboarding, and local traditions like the Labuhan ceremony. However, tourists struggle to find the best destination among the many beach options based on factors such as ticket price, distance from the city center, cleanliness, facilities, and culinary experiences. Using the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) method, this study aims to provide recommendations for the best beaches in Bantul. SMART is a method that offers an objective approach to overcome the limitations of subjective reviews on social media. Data were collected from 31 tourists through field observations and online questionnaires from August to September 2025 to assess the relevance of the criteria and the level of tourist satisfaction with the five beaches. Field observations examined facilities and cleanliness, and the questionnaire assessed tourist preferences using a Likert scale. Baru Beach was the best destination according to the SMART analysis with a score of 0.971, excelling in cleanliness and facilities. Followed by Goa Cemara Beach with a score of 0.968, Parangtritis with a score of 0.962, Depok with a score of 0.959, and Samas with a score of 0.916. These results help beach managers improve facilities and promotions, while also helping tourists choose beaches based on their preferences, such as affordability or appealing local cuisine. Furthermore, this research encourages coastal environmental conservation and increases tourist visits, driving local economic growth in Bantul.

Abstract

Insurance companies rely on premium payments as their primary source of revenue. However, economic instability often causes delays in premium payments, impacting revenue recording. This study applies the C4.5 Decision Tree algorithm to classify insurance customers based on premium amount, age, income, and claim history, thereby improving product recommendations. The research utilizes data mining techniques to analyze customer attributes and generate decision rules for optimal insurance product selection. The findings indicate that customers with a premium of IDR 500,000 are best suited for PRUMed Cover (PMC), while those with IDR 1,000,000 are recommended PRUCritical Benefit 88 (PCB88). For customers with IDR 750,000, additional factors such as age and income level influence the recommended insurance type. The entropy and information gain calculations identify premium amount as the most significant attribute for decision-making, followed by age, income, and claim history. By implementing this method, insurance companies can enhance customer segmentation, streamline product selection, and optimize marketing strategies. The transparent and interpretable decision tree structure ensures regulatory compliance while improving customer satisfaction. Future research should explore additional variables, such as behavioral data and regional trends, and compare C4.5 with other classification algorithms like Random Forest or Support Vector Machines (SVM) to enhance accuracy and scalability.

Abstract

The selection of superior rice seeds is a crucial stage in improving agricultural productivity in Indonesia. However, farmers often select seeds subjectively without systematically considering important factors. To address this issue, this study designs and develops a Decision Support System (DSS) based on the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method to assist farmers in selecting the best rice seeds using six criteria: pest resistance, harvest age, amylose content, yield, irrigation water efficiency, and rice texture. Data were collected through interviews with five farmers in Mangir Lor. The results showed that the rice variety Inpari 32 achieved the highest score of 0.87, thus recommended as the best alternative. The SAW method proved effective in managing multicriteria data and producing objective and accurate results. This DSS is expected to serve as a practical decision-making tool for farmers in selecting high-quality rice seeds and contribute to the achievement of sustainable national food security.

Abstract

Yogyakarta, known as a student city, is a major destination for students from various regions in Indonesia to pursue higher education, including at the Universitas Teknologi Digital Indonesia (UTDI). The majority of UTDI students come from outside the city and therefore require temporary housing such as boarding houses (kost). However, selecting a suitable kost is often challenging due to the abundance of choices and various criteria that must be considered, such as distance to campus, rental price, facilities, safety, house rules, and cleanliness. This study aims to design and develop a Decision Support System (DSS) to provide the best boarding house recommendations around UTDI using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. SAW was chosen due to its capability to handle multi-criteria decision-making in a simple yet effective manner. Data collection methods include literature studies and questionnaires distributed to students. The evaluation process involved assigning weights to each criterion, followed by normalization and preference score calculation for each boarding house alternative. The final results show that the system successfully provides objective recommendations, with the highest-ranking boarding house being Kost Melati with a score of 1.798, followed by Kost Putri Raflesia (1.6), and Kost Ijo Putri (1.55). The developed DSS simplifies the previously manual and subjective kost selection process into a more structured and accurate system. In conclusion, the SAW method proves effective in supporting decision-making for kost selection around the UTDI campus. This research is expected to serve as a foundation for developing similar systems with more complex or combined methods for optimal results.
