Abstract

This study aims to develop HOTS question instruments in temperature and heat material. This study uses the design thinking method with five steps including empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The test stage was conducted with a one-shot case study and quantitative descriptive analysis. Sampling was conducted by using purposive sampling technique on 25 students in eighth grade. The HOTS question instruments developed in thirty multiple choices. The results of instrument quality according item analysis test in terms of the level of difficulty is in a medium average with a good category, the distinguishing power is 0.66 with a good category, the validity of instrument is 63.3% with valid category, and the reliability of instrument is 0.78 that declared reliable. So, it can be said that the instrument that has been developed is feasible to use.

Abstract

Pentingnya penelitian ini terletak pada upaya mengembangkan sikap ilmiah abad ke-21 yang relevan untuk pendidikan modern, terutama dalam pembelajaran IPA, dengan mengintegrasikan teori pembelajaran sosial dalam lembar kerja berbasis listrik statis. Penelitian ini berangkat dari celah pembelajaran yang masih didominasi metode konvensional, sehingga peserta didik kesulitan menghubungkan teori dengan praktik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan menguji lembar kerja peserta didik (LKPD) berbasis teori pembelajaran sosial untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual dan sikap ilmiah. Dengan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE, penelitian ini melibatkan validasi ahli, uji coba awal, dan implementasi pada 45 peserta didik kelas VIII dan IX. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman konsep listrik statis dari rata-rata pretest 58 menjadi posttest 80, serta peningkatan kemampuan peserta didik dalam melakukan observasi, analisis data, dan menyusun kesimpulan berbasis bukti. Implikasi penelitian ini mencakup potensi penerapan LKPD untuk memperkuat literasi ilmiah peserta didik secara lebih luas, sekaligus mendukung pengembangan keterampilan abad ke-21 melalui pembelajaran berbasis aktivitas yang inovatif dan inklusif.

Abstract

Abstrak Mineral pasir merupakan komoditas penting dalam sektor konstruksi. Pasir yang berkualitas bagus secara teknis ditandai oleh ukuran butir yang seragam, kandungan lempung yang rendah, tingkat kepadatan dan ketahanan yang tinggi. Salah satu pasir berkualitas bagus adalah pasir Merapi dan Kelud yang banyak digunakan sebagai bahan campuran beton. Kualitas pasir tersebut diduga berhubungan dengan material vulkanik penyusun struktur batuan bawah permukaan Gunung Merapi dan Gunung Kelud. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi struktur batuan bawah permukaan kawasan Gunung Merapi dan Gunung Kelud menggunakan metode gravitasi berbasis data satelit. Proses pengolahan data melibatkan koreksi data gravitasi (FAC, koreksi Bouguer, dan koreksi Terrain) yang diterapkan untuk mengubah raw data menjadi corrected data dalam bentuk Complete Bouguer Anomali (CBA). Beberapa aplikasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Global  Mapper, Surfer, Oasis Montaj, Grablox, dan aplikasi phyton. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jenis batuan Gunung Merapi adalah andesit sedangkan jenis batuan Gunung Kelud adalah basalt. Abstract Sand mineral is an important commodity in the construction sector. Good quality sand is technically characterized by uniform grain size, low clay content, high density and durability. One of the good quality sands is Merapi and Kelud sand which is widely used as a concrete mixture. The quality of the sand is thought to be related to the volcanic material that makes up the subsurface rock structure of Mount Merapi and Mount Kelud. The purpose of this study was to identify and interpret the subsurface rock structure of the Mount Merapi and Mount Kelud areas using a gravity method based on satellite data. The data processing process involves gravity data correction (FAC, Bouguer correction, and Terrain correction) which is applied to convert raw data into corrected data in the form of Complete Bouguer Anomaly (CPA). Some of the applications used in this study are Global Mapper, Surfer, Oasis Montaj, Grablox, and the phyton application. The results of this study indicate that the type of rock of Mount Merapi is andesite while the type of rock of Mount Kelud is basalt.

Abstract

Objective: Research to describe the improvement of students' critical thinking skills with the Smartphone-Simulation assisted inquiry learning model. Method: This research employed a quantitative descriptive approach, utilizing the data collected. Primary data were obtained from the results of skills tests, observations of learning implementation, and student responses. Furthermore, secondary data was obtained from a literature review to support the primary data. Results: The smartphone simulation media-assisted inquiry model has a positive effect on improving students' critical thinking skills, with an N-Gain score of 0.675. The inquiry learning model, combined with critical thinking, is closely related, focusing on high-level thinking processes that are systematic, reflective, and experience-based. Novelty: Dynamic visualization through the use of smartphone simulations greatly helps improve students' critical thinking skills, accelerating and strengthening the development of their critical thinking in real terms. This is achieved through information transfer and the construction of understanding through active and reflective thinking processes. It is hoped that this research can be one of the implementations of innovative learning planning assisted by digital media.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Modeling-based Learning (MbL) model in improving students’ science process skills (SPS) on the topic of Black’s Principle. SPS is essential for mastering STEM, yet remains relatively low among Indonesian students, as indicated by PISA and TIMSS results. Method: The research employed a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. Two high school classes, each consisting of 30 students, participated in the study. The instruments used included an SPS test and questionnaires that measured skills such as observing, formulating hypotheses, conducting experiments, and interpreting and communicating data. Data analysis involved N-Gain calculations, normality tests, and paired t-tests to confirm statistical significance. Results: The findings revealed that the experimental class taught using the MbL model showed a significant improvement in SPS, with an average N-Gain score of 0.8 (high category). In contrast, the control class, which did not receive MbL-based instruction, only reached an average N-Gain score of 0.5 (medium category). Statistical tests confirmed the significance of these differences, demonstrating the positive impact of the MbL model on SPS development. Novelty: This study highlights the potential of the MbL approach as an innovative and effective teaching model to enhance science process skills at the secondary school level. By integrating modeling activities into learning, the MbL strategy provides students with deeper engagement and better mastery of scientific inquiry processes compared to traditional methods.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the influence of pyrolysis and distillation processes on the chemical composition and antibacterial potential of liquid smoke produced from teak (Tectona grandis) sawdust waste, aiming to identify bioactive compounds relevant for natural antiseptic applications. Method: Teak sawdust was subjected to oxygen-limited pyrolysis at temperatures of 250–400 °C to produce crude liquid smoke, which was subsequently purified through distillation. Both pyrolysis and distillation fractions were analyzed using Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS) to characterize and compare their chemical compositions, focusing on organic acids, phenolic compounds, furans, carbonyls, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).  Results: GC–MS results demonstrated clear differences between the two processing methods. The pyrolysis fraction exhibited a higher proportion of organic acids (approximately 35%), contributing to lower pH and stronger antibacterial potential through synergistic effects of acids, aldehydes, furans, and phenolics. In contrast, the distillation process increased the relative phenolic content to around 40%, enriching stable compounds such as guaiacol, cresol, and syringol, while reducing highly volatile components. Both fractions contained low levels of PAHs, indicating that the processing conditions were adequately controlled and environmentally safe.  Novelty: This study offers a comprehensive comparison of pyrolysis and distillation pathways in converting teak sawdust into liquid smoke, explicitly linking processing techniques to changes in chemical composition and antibacterial functionality. By integrating detailed GC–MS characterization with functional interpretation, this work advances current knowledge on biomass valorization and provides a scientific basis for tailoring liquid smoke as a natural and sustainable antiseptic.

Abstract

Pembelajaran sains selama ini cenderung dipahami sebagai proses penyampaian pengetahuan ilmiah yang bersifat universal dan bebas nilai, sehingga sering kali terlepas dari konteks sosial dan budaya peserta didik. Kondisi ini menyebabkan pembelajaran sains menjadi kurang bermakna dan sulit dikaitkan dengan realitas kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji aspek ontologis, epistemologis, dan aksiologis dari integrasi kearifan lokal dalam pengajaran sains, khususnya fisika, sebagai landasan pengembangan pembelajaran yang lebih relevan dan berkelanjutan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berbasis studi filosofis dengan analisis konseptual dan telaah literatur terhadap berbagai sumber ilmiah terkait filsafat pendidikan, filsafat ilmu, serta kajian etnosains dalam rentang 2020–2025. Analisis dilakukan melalui proses reduksi, kategorisasi, dan sintesis argumentatif untuk merumuskan kerangka konseptual integrasi sains dan kearifan lokal. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa secara ontologis, integrasi kearifan lokal menempatkan fenomena ilmiah sebagai realitas yang tidak terlepas dari pengalaman budaya peserta didik, sehingga konsep fisika dapat dipahami secara lebih kontekstual dan aplikatif. Secara epistemologis, dialog antara pengetahuan ilmiah dan pengetahuan lokal mendorong lahirnya strategi pembelajaran yang lebih partisipatif, reflektif, dan konstruktif, memungkinkan peserta didik membangun pemahaman melalui pengalaman langsung dan interaksi sosial. Secara aksiologis, integrasi tersebut memperkuat dimensi nilai dalam pendidikan sains dengan menumbuhkan kesadaran budaya, tanggung jawab ekologis, serta pembentukan karakter. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi teoretis berupa kerangka filosofis integrasi kearifan lokal dalam pengajaran fisika serta implikasi praktis bagi pengembangan desain pembelajaran yang kontekstual, bermakna, dan berorientasi pada keberlanjutan.

Abstract

Kecamatan Gandusari, Kabupaten Trenggalek, merupakan salah satu sentra produksi kedelai yang memiliki potensi besar dalam mendukung pemenuhan kebutuhan protein masyarakat. Namun, pengolahan kedelai oleh UMKM tahu setempat masih menghadapi sejumlah kendala, terutama keterbatasan variasi produk dan pemasaran yang masih dilakukan secara konvensional, sehingga nilai jual dan jangkauan pasar produk belum optimal. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk membantu UMKM meningkatkan nilai tambah dan daya saing melalui inovasi produk serta pendampingan digitalisasi pemasaran. Kegiatan diawali dengan observasi dan identifikasi permasalahan mitra, dilanjutkan dengan penyuluhan, pelatihan praktik pembuatan tahu sutera, pendampingan pemasaran digital, serta evaluasi dampak kegiatan. Pelatihan difokuskan pada penguasaan teknik pembuatan tahu sutera dengan tekstur lebih lembut dan cita rasa yang lebih baik, disertai penerapan higiene dasar dan pengemasan sederhana. Pada aspek pemasaran, mitra didampingi memanfaatkan media sosial dan aplikasi pesan instan untuk promosi, penyusunan katalog produk, dan pengelolaan pemesanan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya perubahan positif pada praktik usaha mitra, ditandai dengan kemampuan memproduksi tahu sutera sebagai produk bernilai tambah, penggunaan kemasan dan label yang lebih informatif, serta mulai aktifnya kanal pemasaran digital. Selain memberikan dampak awal terhadap peningkatan kompetensi produksi dan pemasaran UMKM tahu, kegiatan ini juga mendukung pencapaian Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs), khususnya SDGs No. 1 (No Poverty), SDGs No. 2 (Zero Hunger), dan SDGs No. 3 (Good Health and Well-being). Kegiatan ini berpotensi memperkuat keberlanjutan usaha dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan pelaku UMKM secara bertahap. Tofu MSME Product Innovation in Gandusari District, Trenggalek Regency Through Digital Marketing Training and Mentoring  Abstract Gandusari District in Trenggalek Regency is a soybean production center with the potential to meet the community's protein needs. However, the utilization of soybeans by tofu Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) still faces limitations, particularly in product variation and conventional marketing, resulting in relatively low market reach and selling value. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to increase the added value and competitiveness of tofu MSMEs through product innovation training in making silk tofu (tahu sutera) and digital marketing assistance. The implementation methods included observation and problem identification, program planning, counseling, practical training and mentoring, and impact evaluation. Product innovation training focused on mastering the techniques of producing seasoned silk tofu with a soft texture and improved flavor, accompanied by the application of basic hygiene and simple packaging. Digital marketing assistance was conducted by optimizing social media and instant messaging applications for promotion, product catalogs, and ordering. The results showed a significant increase in the partner's understanding and skills in producing silk tofu and managing digital marketing channels. This activity has successfully opened up new market opportunities and increased the economic value of the partner's tofu products.
