Abstract

Science learning must be changed by applying real and active science process skills which are shown by students being able to understand the use of tools, methods, and procedures and apply them in the discovery process and communicate them based on the evidence they get. The purpose of this study was to see the impact of the use of the inquiry model on science process skills and student learning outcomes. The research method used is a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods designed using a pre-test-post-test control group. The samples of this research were 7th-grade junior high school students. The length of the research process is 12 weeks. The results showed that there were significant differences between the two groups. This indicates that the inquiry model has a positive impact on students' science process skills. This was also accompanied by positive results on student learning outcomes in the group using the inquiry model. The conclusion is that quantitatively the fact that the inquiry learning model can improve science process skills and student learning outcomes is found. Optimizing the application of this model is needed to support progress in the education quality.

Abstract

This study aims to develop guided inquiry-based science learning tools to enhance the critical thinking skills of junior high school students on the topic of additive and addictive substances. The research employed a development method using Tessmer’s formative evaluation model, which includes the stages of validation, practicality testing, and effectiveness testing. The developed learning tools consist of lesson plans (RPP), student worksheets (LKPD), and instructional materials. Expert validation results indicated that the tools are in the "highly valid" category, with an average percentage score of 92.5%. The practicality of the tools was reflected in the high implementation of learning activities, ease of use by teachers, and positive student responses. Effectiveness testing showed a significant improvement in students’ critical thinking skills, with an average N-Gain of 0.49 (moderate category). These findings demonstrate that the guided inquiry-based learning tools are not only theoretically and practically feasible but also have a positive impact on the enhancement of students’ critical thinking skills. Therefore, these tools can serve as an alternative solution for implementing instruction that emphasizes both content mastery and the development of students’ competencies.

Abstract

This examination creates articulate storyline learning media which plans to make sense of the legitimacy of the media. This study utilizes a kind of innovative work (Research and development) utilizing the ADDIE cici4d model (examination, plan, improvement, execution, and assessment). This examination just arrived at the improvement stage. The information assortment strategy utilizes a media approval sheet with information investigation utilizing a legitimacy test, to be specific Aiken's V. The consequences of this review show that the media articulate storyline with a media legitimacy trial of 0.81, and a material legitimacy cici4d trial of 0.83 is remembered for the models of high legitimacy or exceptionally substantial. In view of the portrayal above, it is reasoned that the understandable storyline media is fitting for use in science learning.

Abstract

Scientific literacy involves understanding scientific concepts using information to solve problems and making decisions based on scientific findings. This study will build an e-LKPD (Electronic Student Worksheet) based on the mixed wordwall game to increase eighth-graders' scientific literacy. The development model and R&D process are ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The implementation involved 28 SMPN 1 Alalak class VIII C students in 2024–2025. Data was collected from PISA-based scientific literacy exams, expert validation sheets, and student answer questionnaires and analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The validation results showed an N-Gain score of 0.71 (high category), an average score of 0.92 (very valid), and a practicality score of 90%. Results suggest that Wordwall-based e-LKPD improves students' study evaluation, data understanding, and scientific phenomena explanation. The findings show that the wordwall-based e-LKPD is a effective, practical, and valid learning instrument for the Merdeka Curriculum and 21st-century education.

Abstract

Kurangnya penggunaan media pembelajaran yang interaktif dan sesuai dalam pembelajaran IPA berdampak terhadap rendahnya pencapaian hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan media poster book digital guna meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik pada ranah kognitif dan afektif dalam dimensi Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk menganalisis perbedaan hasil belajar sebelum dan setelah penggunaan media, serta membandingkan hasil belajar antara kelas yang diberi perlakuan menggunakan poster book digital dan kelompok yang tidak. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan desain quasi eksperimen. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Karang Intan, sebanyak 59 peserta didik dari kelas VIIIA dan VIIIB. Data diperoleh melalui tes hasil belajar dan observasi. Hasil analisis uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan bahwa nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000, yang lebih kecil dari 0,05, menandakan perbedaan signifikan hasil belajar sebelum dan sesudah penggunaan media. Uji Mann-Whitney juga menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kedua kelas berdasarkan nilai hasil belajar kognitif yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000. Hasil belajar afektif pada indikator bergotong royong menunjukkan perbedaan, dengan kategori sangat baik pada kelas yang menggunakan media poster book digital. Kedua kelas mencapai kategori sangat baik pada indikator kreatif. Kesimpulannya, pemanfaatan media poster book digital dinyatakan efektif dalam menunjang peningkatan hasil belajar peserta didik. Abstract

Scientific literacy is knowledge and skills in the bolawins scientific field in order to have the ability to identify problems, gain new insights, explain scientific phenomena, make conclusions according to reality, master the uniqueness of science, be aware of science and technology that shape the natural environment, and be willing to participate and care with problems related to science. The Science module is teaching material in science lessons that can make it easier to achieve learning objectives. Teaching materials used in the learning process have an important role in determining the success of learning. Teaching materials used in SMP/MTs tend not to involve students in exploring and applying concepts, causing them to be less active and creative in the learning process. Therefore, researchers through this research developed a scientific literacy-based teaching material related to the structure and function of plant tissue in natural science lessons. This study aims to explain the feasibility of scientific literacy-based teaching materials in the form of modules, their uses, and their practicality. This research is classified as development research. The development model used is the 4D model (Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination). The results showed that the validity of the module obtained a percentage of 90% with an average of 3.60 valid criteria without revision. Then the results of the module scientific literacy validity obtained a percentage of 80% with an average of 3.37 valid criteria. So it can be concluded that the modules used as science teaching materials based on scientific literacy on the structure and function of plant tissues are valid and suitable for use as teaching materials.

Abstract

Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is a wedge between Content Knowledge and Pedagogical Knowledge, namely knowledge about the material being taught and how to teach it. The teacher's ability to understand the material and manage learning greatly determines the improvement of the quality of learning in the classroom in realizing meaningful learning for students. This study aims to describe the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) for science teachers at the Global Islamic Boarding School Middle School (GIBS) regarding the classification of living things. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques using observation sheets, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that teachers can balance between two competencies, namely knowledge of material classification of living things and how to teach it using 7 aspects of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), namely Content Knowledge, Knowledge of Specific Context, Knowledge of Learners and Learning, Pedagogical Knowledge, Curriculum Knowledge, Knowledge of General Education Context, Assessment Procedures, Evaluation of Outcomes – Educational Ends, Goals, Purposes, and Values.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate an integrated science learning design based on wetland local wisdom to enhance junior high school students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). The study addresses the limited integration of local environmental contexts in science instruction, which often leads to low student engagement and suboptimal development of higher-order cognitive skills. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The developed products included lesson plans, integrated teaching materials, student worksheets, and HOTS-based assessment instruments designed to facilitate contextual and meaningful learning experiences. The validity of the developed learning design was assessed by experts, resulting in a high average validation score of 0.92, indicating strong content, construct, and language appropriateness. Practicality was evaluated through classroom implementation and student responses, showing a high implementation rate (94%) and positive student responses (88.5%), both categorized as very practical. The effectiveness of the learning design was measured using N-gain analysis, which yielded a score of 0.72, indicating a high level of improvement in students’ HOTS. Statistical analysis further confirmed significant improvements (p < 0.05), particularly in analytical (C4) and evaluation (C5) skills. In conclusion, the developed learning design is empirically proven to be valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ HOTS. It also provides a robust and innovative framework for contextual science learning through the integration of wetland local wisdom, contributing to the advancement of science education in environmentally relevant contexts
