Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the supplementation of turmeric in the diet on antioxidant status and growth performance of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) in zero water exchange condition. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. Each treatment consisted of feed supplementation turmeric at dosage of 0; 2.5; 5 or 7.5 g kg-1 diet. One hundred catfish juvenile (5.95±0.05 g) were stocked in intermediate bulk container (IBC) tank (1×1×1 m3) and rearing in zero water exchange condition for 60 days. Catfish were fed at satiation twice a day, in the morning and evening. The results showed that an increase in antioxidant content in catfish fed with the addition of turmeric, which simultaneously also reduced the percentage of liver damage. The parameters of liver damage can be seen from several parameters i.e. pale liver, droplet fat and fat content in the addition of turmeric treatment is lower than without the addition of turmeric. However, catfish fed with the addition of turmeric did not show significant results in terms of growth performances. Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi penambahan kunyit ke dalam pakan sebagai antioksidan dan kinerja pertumbuhan ikan lele Afrika (Clarias gariepinus). Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 4 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Setiap perlakuan terdiri atas penambahan dosis kunyit sebanyak 0; 2,5; 5 dan 7,5 g kg-1 pakan. Seratus benih ikan lele (5,95±0,05 g) dipelihara dalam tangki Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) (1×1×1 m3) dan dipelihara tanpa pergantian air selama 60 hari. Ikan lele diberi pakan secara at satiation dua kali sehari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kandungan antioksidan pada ikan lele yang diberi pakan dengan penambahan kunyit di dalamnya, yang secara bersamaan juga mengurangi persentase kerusakan hati. Parameter kerusakan hati dapat dilihat dari beberapa parameter, seperti hati pucat, droplet lemak dan kandungan lemak pada perlakuan penambahan kunyit lebih rendah dibandingkan tanpa penambahan kunyit. Namun ikan lele yang diberikan pakan dengan penambahan kunyit tidak menunjukkan hasil yang signifikan dari segi pertumbuhannya.

Abstract

Supplemental enzyme in artificial diets with difference doses for African catfish Clarias gariepinus (initial weight of 0.0048±0.0001 g and total length 0.7633±0.0392 cm) were examined for 12 days feeding trial. The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness supplemental enzymes in diets for growth performance of catfish larvae. Tubifex sp. (control) and a multi enzyme was included at the level of 0.00 (ME0), 1.00 (ME1) and 2.00 g kg-1 (ME2 diet as a test diets. Each of the four experimental diets was randomly assigned to four plicate groups. Larva was allocated into 150 L aquaria at a density of 1350 larvae per aquarium. Data was analyzed using SPSS 20, followed by Duncan’s test. The result showed that the survival rate and condition factors were no statistical difference between experimental diets and control group. The highest final length, final weight, total food consumption, villi length and enzymes activity were recorded in the Control (P<0.05) and significantly different with other treatments. Feed efficiency’s control significantly different with other. Harvest size distribution, in the small size group (1-2 cm) did not show significantly different, in the medium size group (2-3 cm) and large size group (3-5 cm) the Tubifex sp. treatment were significantly different from the other treatments (P<0.05) whereas between ME0, ME1 and ME2 treatments were not significantly different. Among the supplemental enzyme in test diets, ME2 can improve weight and total length 6.25% and 13.4%, respectively than ME0 treatment. The results suggested that enzyme supplementation can improve intestinal structure and growth performance of catfish larvae. The supplemental enzyme in diets with doses up to 2 g kg-1 can increase intestinal villi’s length but have not been able to increase fish growth performance as use worm. Abstrak Penambahan enzim pada pakan buatan dengan dosis berbeda untuk ikan lele Afrika Clarias gariepinus (bobot awal 0,0048 ± 0,0001 g dan panjang total 0,7633 ± 0,0392 cm) telah dilakukan selama 12 hari. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis efektivitas penambahan enzim pada pakan untuk pertumbuhan larva ikan lele. Cacing sutra (kontrol) dan multienzim ditambahkan pada pakan dengan dosis 0,00 g kg-1 (ME0), 1,00 g kg-1 (ME1) dan 2,00 g kg-1 (ME2) pakan. Masing-masing dari empat perlakuan disusun secara acak dengan empat ulangan. Larva ditebar dalam 150 L dengan kepadatan 1350 ekor per akuarium. Data dianalisis menggunakan SPSS 20, dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwas intasan dan faktor kondisi tidak berbeda nyata antarperlakuan. Nilai panjang dan bobot akhir, jumlah konsumsi pakan, panjang vili dan aktivitas enzim tertinggi diperoleh pada kontrol (P<0,05) dan berbeda nyata dengan perlakuan yang lain. Efisiensi pakan kontrol berbeda nyata dengan perlakuan lainnya. Distribusi ukuran panen, pada kelompok kecil (1-2 cm) tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata, pada kelompok sedang (2-3 cm) dan kelompok besar (3-5 cm) kontrol menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata, namun antara ME0, ME1 dan ME2 tidak berbeda nyata. Pada perlakuan pakan buatan yang ditambahkan enzim, ME2 dapat meningkatkan bobot dan panjang total 6,25% dan 13,4% dibandingkan ME0. Diduga bahwa penambahan enzim dapat meningkatkan struktur usus dan kinerja pertumbuhan pada larva lele Afrika. Penambahan enzim dengan dosis sampai 2 g kg-1 pakan dapat meningkatkan panjang villi usus, namun belum mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan ikan sebagaimana penggunaan cacing.

Abstract

A triplicate experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of the diet supplemented with free glutamine (Gln) on intestinal structure and function, as well as the growth performance of African catfish Clarias gariepinus juvenile. The commercial feed was supplemented with Gln of either 0% (control), 0.7%, 1.4% or 2.1%. Fish measuring 2 ± 0.02 cm were stocked in 12 aquariums 50x40x35 cm filled with water at a volume of 50 L with a density of 2,000 fish m-2. Fish were cultured for 30 days and fed on the diets three times a day at satiation. Results showed that the growth rate and biomass of the fish at the end of the experiment had a quadratic response, with the maximum growth achieved at 0.7% Gln treatment. The response pattern of fish growth was in line with the distribution of fish length. Fish in 0.7% Gln treatment had number fish measuring 5-6 cm more than 12% less than other treatments, while fish measuring 7-8 cm were more than other treatments. Higher growth in the 0.7% Gln treatment correlated with longer villi, higher protein retention, and ultimately higher feed efficiency. Increased intake of Gln in the diet also caused an increase in intestinal protease enzyme activity, and accumulation of Gln in the liver, but did not increase the enzymes activity of the liver Superoxidase Dismutase (SOD). It can be concluded that feeding on a diet supplemented with 0.7% Gln can improve the structure and function of the intestine, as well as increase the target size of catfish juvenile production. Abstrak Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi penambahan Glutamin bebas (Gln) pada pakan yang menghasilkan struktur dan fungsi usus, serta kinerja pertumbuhan benih ikan lele Clarias gariepinus yang terbaik. Pakan komersil disuplementasi Gln sebanyak 0% (kontrol), 0,7%, 1,4% dan 2,1%. Ikan lele ukuran 2 ± 0,02 cm ditebar ke dalam 12 akuarium 50x40x35 cm3 yang diisi air setinggi 30 cm dengan kepadatan 2000 ekor m-2. Ikan dipelihara selama 30 hari, dan diberi pakan sesuai perlakuan tiga kali sehari sekenyangnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju pertumbuhan dan biomassa ikan di akhir penelitian memiliki respon kuadratik, dengan pertumbuhan maksimal tercapai pada perlakuan Gln 0,7%. Pola respon pertumbuhan ikan sejalan dengan distribusi panjang ikan. Ikan pada perlakuan 0,7% Gln memiliki jumlah ikan berukuran 5-6 cm lebih sedikit 12% dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya, sedangkan ikan dengan ukuran 7-8 cm lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya. Lebih tingginya pertumbuhan di perlakuan 0,7% Gln berkorelasi dengan vili yang lebih panjang, retensi protein yang lebih tinggi, yang pada akhirnya efisiensi pakan juga tinggi. Peningkatan asupan Gln di pakan juga menyebabkan peningkatan aktivitas enzim protease usus, dan akumulasi Gln di hati, namun tidak meningkatkan aktivitas enzim Superoksidase Dimutase (SOD) hati. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan Gln 0,7% pada pakan dapat memperbaiki struktur dan fungsi usus, serta meningkatkan target ukuran produksi benih ikan lele.

Abstract

A triplicate experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of glutamine supplementation in the diet on the structure and function of intestine and the growth performance of striped catfish Pangasius hypopthalmus. Forty fishes with an initial body weight of 0.82 ± 0.01 g were distributed into a rectangular aquarium with a size of 60×50×40 cm and a water volume of 70 L. Fish were fed on the diet supplemented with glutamine of either 0, 1, 2, or 3%, respectively. Fish were fed on the diet at satiation for 60 days. Results showed that fish fed on the diet supplemented with 1, and 2% of glutamine significantly had the highest growth performance, including specific growth rate, protein retention, and feed efficiency. On the other hand, feeding on a diet supplemented with 3% of glutamine did not significantly affect the growth performance of fish. Fish in 1% and 2% glutamine treatments had better structure and function of intestine than two other groups of fish, namely the ratio of intestine length with body length, villus surface area, and protease enzyme activity. Thus, supplementation of 1% and 2% glutamine in the diet improves the structure and function of intestine and the growth performance of striped catfish. Abstrak Percobaan dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan glutamin pada pakan terhadap struktur dan fungsi usus, serta kinerja pertumbuhan ikan patin Pangasius hypopthalmus. Ikan uji yang digunakan sebanyak 40 ekor dengan bobot awal 0,82 ± 0,01 g dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 60 × 50 × 40 cm dan volume air 70 L. Ikan diberi pakan uji dengan penambahan glutamin 0, 1, 2, dan 3%. Ikan diberi pakan uji secara at satiation selama 60 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ikan yang diberi pakan dengan penambahan glutamin 1% dan 2% secara signifikan menghasilkan kinerja pertumbuhan tertinggi, termasuk laju pertumbuhan spesifik, retensi protein, dan efisiensi pakan. Di sisi lain, pakan yang ditambah dengan glutamin 3% tidak signifikan memengaruhi kinerja pertumbuhan ikan. Ikan uji pada perlakuan glutamin 1% dan 2% menghasilkan struktur dan fungsi usus yang lebih baik dibanding perlakuan lainnya, yakni rasio panjang usus dengan panjang tubuh, luas permukaan vili dan aktivitas enzim protease. Disimpulkan bahwa penambahan glutamin 1% dan 2% pada pakan meningkatkan struktur dan fungsi usus serta kinerja pertumbuhan benih ikan patin.

Abstract

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the hydrolysis of fiber content in palm kernel meal (PKM) by sheep rumen liquor enzyme and to know the apparent digestibility coefficient of hydrolyzed PKM for catfish Pangasius hypophthalmus. The first trial examined effectivity of sheep rumen liquor enzyme to decrease crude fiber content of PKM. The added volume of sheep rumen liquor enzyme was 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mL/kg PKM and then it was incubated for 0, 12, and 24 hours. A factorial completely randomized experimental design consisted of 2 variables and triplicates were selected. The second trial was conducted to evaluate the apparent digestibility coefficients of hydrolized PKM for catfish. Apparent digestibility coefficients were determined using chromic oxide indicator added to both reference and test diets. The feed ingredients used in the trial were hydrolyzed PKM (PKMe) and unhydrolyzed PKM (PKM). Ten fishes with weighing around 20 g were used in the trial and held in 80 l tanks. Feces were collected from three replicate groups of fish using a fecal collection column attached to fish rearing tank. PKM hydrolyzed with 100 mL/kg and incubated for 24 hour showed the lowest crude fiber content (6.99%) among the treatments (P<0.05). Apparent digestibility coefficient of hydrolyzed PKM was 57.57% compared with unhydrolyzed PKM 15.31%. Based on the evaluation in those parameters it was concluded that sheep rumen liquor enzyme added to PKM was effective to decrease crude fiber content of PKM and improve apparent digestibility coefficient of PKM for catfish.

Abstract

Climbing perch, Anabas testudineus (Bloch) is a potential species for aquaculture in Kalimantan, Indonesia and belongs to Anabantidae family. The development of its digestive tract was evaluated on larvae reared under culture conditions of 28oC-30oC, from hatching to 30 days after hatching using histological and morphological methods. The larvae were kept in six 100-L tanks. They were fed with rotifers and microalgae from day 2nd after hatching to day 10th; Artemia nauplii from day 7th to day 15th; Artemia meta-nauplii from day 15th to day 20th; and Tubifex worm from day 20th onwards. The development of digestive tract in climbing perch followed the general pattern described for other species. Shortly after hatching, its digestive system was found to be consisted of an undifferentiated straight tube laying dorsally to the yolk sac. At first feeding (day 2nd), both mouth and anus had opened and the yolk sac was partially absorbed. On day 3, the digestive tract was fully differentiated into buccopharynx, esophagus, intestine and rectum. The two pyloric caeca appeared on day 25th after hatching, indicating the transition from larval to juvenile stage and acquisition of an adult type of digestion.

Abstract

Several studies have recommended the supplementation of astaxanthin in the Kurumoi rainbowfish diet to enhance its color and growth. However, knowledge regarding the effects of naturally-sourced and synthetically-made carotenoids in fish diets is currently limited. This study’s objective was to compare the growth and color performances of Melanotaenia parva by supplementing fish feed with synthetic astaxanthin and natural carotenoids sourced from Chlorella and Spirulina. A total of 12 fish (weight of 1.27 ± 0.02 g and total length of 4.70 ± 0.07 cm) were stocked at a density of one fish per liter. Basal feed (B) was used as the control feed. The experimental feeds were: B added with different doses of synthetic astaxanthin (Carophyll® Pink 10% water-soluble) from low to higher doses as follows: 0.6 g kg-1 (AS-L), 2.6 g kg-1 (AS-O), and 5.1 g kg-1 (AS-H); and B added with natural carotenoids of Chlorella sp. (Ch) and Spirulina sp. (Sp) of 8.6 g kg-1 and 5.5 g kg-1, respectively. The experimental diets were given at satiation for 56 days at 8 am and 3 pm. The study results showed that the addition of synthetic astaxanthin at a dose of 2.6 g kg-1 could increase the fish growth up to 12% with carotenoid deposition in the fish fin of three times higher than that of the treatments without synthetic astaxanthin. This dose was considered the optimal dose to increase the fish’s growth performance and pigmentation compared with the high dose of 5.1 g kg-1. Despite having the same nutrient composition, natural carotenoids in Chlorella and Spirulina did not produce better results compared to the low dose of synthetic astaxanthin of 0.6 g kg-1.

Abstract

Asam humat (AH) terdiri atas AH alami (AHA) dan sintetik (AHS), namun efektivitasnya sebagai feed additive pada pakan ikan kakap putih belum dikaji. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui efektivitas penambahan AH pada pakan yang mengandung kadmium (Cd) dari kerang hijau Perna viridis terhadap status kesehatan dan pertumbuhan ikan kakap putih, Lates calcarifer. Percobaan dirancang menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan terdiri atas lima pakan uji mengandung AH yang berbeda, yaitu 0; 1.600; 10.000; dan 20.000 mg.kg-1 (AHA) dan sebagai pembanding menggunakan AHS sebesar 1.600 mg.kg-1 pakan. Benih ikan kakap putih (4,18 ± 0,25 g) dipelihara dalam akuarium ukuran 80 cm x 35 cm x 28 cm yang diisi air laut dengan sistem resirkulasi selama 70 hari. Ikan diberi pakan uji sesuai perlakuan tiga kali sehari sampai kenyang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penambahan AH baik jenis AHA maupun AHS pada pakan dapat menurunkan akumulasi Cd dalam daging, ginjal, dan hati; kedua jenis AH tersebut mampu mengeliminasi Cd di dalam daging ikan. Pada dosis 1.600 mg.kg-1 kedua jenis AH tersebut mampu meningkatkan performa pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup ikan, namun pada dosis AHA > 1.600 mg.kg-1 pertumbuhannya relatif menurun. Pola respons pertumbuhan ikan bersesuaian dengan parameter hematologi, enzim pencernaan, dan status antioksidan di hati ikan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini, penambahan asam humat pada dosis yang sama (1.600 mg.kg-1) pada pakan, AHS lebih efisien dibandingkan AHA dalam hal meningkatkan pertumbuhan. Penambahan AH dari jenis asam humat alami dan sintetik dalam pakan uji dapat meningkatkan status kesehatan dan mengeliminasi Cd di dalam daging ikan. Penambahan AHA pada dosis tinggi pada pakan memberikan respons negatif terhadap status kesehatan, kelangsungan hidup, dan kinerja pertumbuhan ikan kakap putih.Humic acids (HAs) are available in natural and synthetic forms. HA has potential applications in aquaculture, yet its effectiveness as a feed additive in Asian seabass, Lates calcarifer has not well studied. The purpose of this study was to asses the effectiveness of the addition of natural and synthetic humic acids to reduce cadmium (Cd) concentration in green mussels Perna viridis used for Asian seabass feed and evaluate the fish health status and growth performance. The experiment was designed using a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. Five test feeds containing different levels of humic acid, i.e., 0; 1,600; 10,000; and 20,000 mg natural humic acid kg-1 feed. As a comparison, a test feed was added with 1,600 mg synthetic humic acid kg-1 feed. Asian seabass juveniles (4.18 ± 0.25 g) were cultivated in seawater aquarium equipped with a recirculation system for 70 days. Fifteen aquaria of 80 cm x 35 cm x 28 cm were used as the culture tanks. The fish were fed with the experimental diet three times every day at the satiation level. The results showed that the addition of both HAs (natural, AHA and synthetic, AHS) in feed could reduce Cd level in the fish meat, kidneys, and liver. At a dose of 1,600 mg.kg-1, both HAs were able to improve the growth performance and survival of fish. However, at doses > 1,600 mg.kg-1, fish growth was relatively suppressed. Fish growth response patterns were concomitant with the hematological parameters, digestive enzymes, and antioxidant status in fish liver. This study concludes that the addition of AHS at 1,600 mg.kg-1 feed is more efficient in terms of increasing growth compared with the same AHA level. The addition of HA, either natural and synthetic humic acid in the feed, can improve the health status of Asian seabass and eliminate Cd in the fish meat. The addition of AHA at higher doses (> 1,600 mg.kg-1 feed) might cause a negative response to health status, survival, and growth performance of Asian seabass.

Abstract

Ketika dipapar media tinggi amonia, ikan nila mengalami perubahan metabolisme asam amino yang cukup signifikan, dan suplementasi asam glutamat berguna untuk memperbaiki perubahan yang merugikan akibat paparan amonia. Akan tetapi informasi mengenai aspek metabolisme asam amino pada ikan nila yang dipapar amonia rendah masih sangat terbatas. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh suplementasi asam glutamat pada ikan nila merah yang dipelihara pada media budidaya rendah amonia terhadap respons fisiologis dan kinerja pertumbuhan. Ikan nila dengan bobot rata-rata 9,97 ± 0,38 g ditebar sebanyak 20 ekor pada setiap akuarium (padat tebar 1,0 g L-1). Empat jenis pakan isoprotein (kadar protein 28%) dan isoenergi (4245 ± 22,48 kkal kg-1) disuplementasi asam glutamat masing-masing sebanyak 0% (Glu 0), 0,75% (Glu 0,75), 1,5% (Glu 1,5) dan 2,25% (Glu 2,25). Setiap perlakuan diberi empat ulangan. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama 60 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pakan yang ditambah glutamat memberi efek pada respon fisiologis ikan. Aktivitas enzim aspartate aminotransferase (AST) pada Glu 2,25 lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lainnya, yang menjadi indikasi penurunan beban kerja hati. Ada kecenderungan peningkatan kadar aspartat, alanin, leusin, isoleusin dan valin pada jaringan hati seiring dengan meningkatnya kadar suplementasi asam glutamat. Di dalam penelitian ini, kinerja pertumbuhan ikan tidak berbeda nyata antar perlakuan. Kesimpulannya adalah bahwa konsumsi pakan yang ditambah asam glutamat 2,25% mampu memperbaiki respons fisiologis ikan akibat menurunnya beban kerja hati yang dicirikan dengan penurunan nilai AST, serta meningkatnya kandungan beberapa asam amino hati, walau belum mampu memperbaiki kinerja pertumbuhan dan pemanfaatan pakan oleh ikan nila. Informasi ini berguna untuk pengembangan riset terkait aspek metabolisme asam amino pada ikan nila yang terpapar media tinggi amonia.When exposed to high ammonia aquatic environment, nile tilapia experienced a significant change in hepatic amino acid metabolism and glutamic acid supplementation can reduce the effects of the adverse change. However, there are no sufficient information on the amino acid metabolisme of tilapia exposed to low environmental ammonia. This research was performed to evaluate the effects of oral supplementation of glutamic acid on the aminotransferase enzymes activity and growth performance of red tilapia reared in low environmental ammonia (LEA) with NH4 concentration of 0.10 mg L-1. Fish with an average weight of 9.97 ± 0.38 g were stocked with an initial rearing density of 1.0 g L-1(20 fish in each aquarium). Four isonitrogenous (crude protein 28%) and isocaloric (4246 ± 22.48kcal kg-1) experimental diets were prepared with supplementation of different ratios of glutamic acid at 0% (Glu0), 0.75% (Glu0.75), 1.5%(Glu1.5) and 2.25 % (Glu2.25) to feed, respectively. All treatment groups were arranged quadruplicate. Fish were fed with the diets for 60 days. The results showed that the supplementation of glutamic acid in the diet affected the physiological response of the fish. The aspartate aminotransferase (AST) activity of Glu2.25 was significantly lower compared to that of the other treatments, which indicated a decrease in liver workload. There is a tendency of increased levels of hepatic free aspartate, alanine, leucine, isoleucine, and valine following the increase of glutamic acid supplementation level. The fish growth performance was insignificantly different between the treatments. It is concluded that a diet supplemented with 2.25% of glutamic acid could improve the physiological response of red tilapia, although no significant growth improvement should be expected. These research finding could serve as an important basic information for future research on amino acid and endogenous ammonia metabolism in nile tilapia exposed to high ammonia aquatic environment.

Abstract

Bioflok merupakan campuran heterogen dari mikroba, partikel, koloid, polimer organik, kation yang saling berintegrasi dan memiliki kandungan nutrisi yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh ikan bagi pertumbuhannya. Namun beberapa kandungan asam amino esensial (AAE) tepung bioflok seperti histidine, lysine, dan methionine masih defisiensi untuk ikan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemanfaatan tepung bioflok yang disuplementasi beberapa asam amino esensial sebagai pakan ikan bandeng. Ikan uji yang digunakan adalah yuwana bandeng berukuran rata-rata 18,4 g yang dipelihara dalam bak serat kaca bervolume 250 L dengan kepadatan awal 15 ekor/bak, selama 60 hari. Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah jenis pakan berupa: (A) tepung bioflok + asam amino esensial (histidine, lysine, dan methionine), (B) tepung bioflok, dan (C) pakan komersil, masing-masing 3 ulangan yang didisain dengan rancangan acak lengkap. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai kecernaan dan konsumsi pakan harian kedua pakan uji bioflok lebih rendah daripada pakan komersil. Laju pertumbuhan ikan, efisiensi pakan, efisiensi protein, retensi protein, retensi lemak, dan retensi methionine berbeda nyata (P<0,05) di antara perlakuan dan tertinggi terjadi pada ikan yang diberi pakan komersil diikuti berturut-turut pakan tepung bioflok + AAE dan terendah pakan tepung bioflok. Laju eskresi total ammonia nitrogen pada ikan yang diberi pakan tepung bioflok + AAE cenderung memiliki nilai yang lebih rendah daripada ikan yang diberi pakan tepung bioflok saja dan pakan komersil. Penambahan asam amino esensial (histidine, lysine, dan methionine) dalam tepung bioflok mampu memperbaiki pemanfaatan protein bioflok untuk pertumbuhan ikan bandeng.
