Abstract

This study examines the influence of principal leadership and emotional intelligence on teachers’ work motivation and performance. Employing a quantitative explanatory method, the research involved a sample of 220 senior high school teachers in Sarolangun Regency. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that principal leadership (β = 0.505) and teachers’ emotional intelligence (β = 0.404) have significant positive effects on work motivation. Both variables also exert direct positive effects on teacher performance. Notably, work motivation emerges as the strongest predictor of performance (β = 0.706) and serves as a key mediating variable that strengthens the indirect effects of leadership and emotional intelligence on performance. These findings suggest that improving teacher performance requires strategies that extend beyond enhancing leadership practices and emotional competencies to include the systematic cultivation of intrinsic motivation. Accordingly, this study recommends that teacher development policies integrate emotional intelligence and transformational leadership training to foster a school climate that supports optimal teacher motivation and performance.

Abstract

The integration of digital technologies into higher education has transformed instructional practices and reshaped determinants of student learning satisfaction. This study investigates the influence of self-efficacy, academic service quality, digital competence, and self-regulated learning on student satisfaction within a technology-integrated biology education context. A quantitative survey design was employed involving 155 undergraduate students selected from a population of 360 students at a public university in Indonesia. Data were collected using a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analysed through PLS-SEM. The measurement model demonstrated satisfactory reliability and validity, with all constructs meeting the required thresholds for factor loadings, composite reliability, and average variance extracted. The structural model revealed that academic service quality (β = 0.361, p < 0.05) and self-regulated learning (β = 0.516, p < 0.001) significantly and positively predicted student satisfaction. In contrast, self-efficacy and digital competence did not exhibit significant direct effects. The model explained 85.7% of the variance in learning satisfaction (R² = 0.857), indicating strong predictive capacity. These findings suggest that within technology-integrated higher education environments, students’ capacity to regulate their learning processes and the quality of institutional academic services play more decisive roles in shaping satisfaction than technical digital skills alone. The study contributes empirical evidence to the discourse on technology-enhanced pedagogy by emphasizing the strategic importance of self-regulation and institutional service systems in optimizing digitally mediated learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze public relations (PR) strategies in building a positive school image through the implementation of open communication and the use of digital media at SDIT Nurul 'Ilmi 2, Jambi City. This institution emphasizes flagship programs such as Quran memorization and tajweed, bilingual instruction, leadership development, and the development of noble character. Despite facing public perceptions of the relatively high cost of integrated Islamic education, this Islamic elementary school needs to clearly and persuasively convey the essence, quality, and superiority of its services to the public. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, while data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that public relations strategies based on open communication and digital media optimization contribute to increasing public trust and strengthening the school's image. Supporting factors include the support of school leaders, the competence of human resources in public relations, and parental participation. Inhibiting factors include limited time and technical skills in managing digital media.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between student motivation and self-regulated learning strategies among Malaysian boarding school students, using self-determination theory (SDT) as its theoretical foundation. A total of 328 form four students from four northern Malaysian boarding schools participated. Using a validated version of the motivated strategies for learning questionnaire (MSLQ) and analyzed through second-order partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), results revealed a significant positive relationship between motivational beliefs, especially self-efficacy and intrinsic value, and self-regulated learning strategies. The study’s novelty lies in validating a culturally adapted, second-order motivation model tailored to Malaysian boarding schools. Notably, the research isolates the mediating effect of intrinsic motivation on self-regulation within a high-pressure, collectivist setting, extending SDT’s applicability. However, limitations lie in the use of a cross-sectional design and dependence on self-reported data, and regional focus. Future studies should adopt longitudinal designs, consider diverse school types, and integrate perspectives from teachers or parents to strengthen validity. Including objective academic performance metrics may offer deeper insight. This research affirms the relevance of SDT in Malaysia’s education system and provides a validated framework linking motivation to strategic learning. The findings support evidence-based pedagogical strategies and align with sustainable development goal (SDG) 4 on quality education and goal 10 on reduced inequalities, promoting for fair and motivation-enhancing environments of learning.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of the principal's transformational leadership style on teacher performance in senior high schools in Merangin Regency with teacher work motivation and job satisfaction as intervening variables and tenure as moderating variable, using a quantitative explanatory survey approach and PLS-SEM analysis (SmartPLS 3.2.9) on a sample of 537 teachers (98.70% response). The results of the hypothesis testing indicate that transformational leadership has a significant positive effect on teacher job satisfaction (β=0.248; p=0.000), teacher work motivation (β=0.690; p=0.000), and teacher performance directly (β=0.282; p=0.000). Teacher work motivation has a very strong effect on teacher performance (β=0.502; p=0.000) and on teacher job satisfaction (β=0.656; p=0.000), while teacher job satisfaction has no significant effect on teacher performance (β=0.083; p=0.105). Teacher job satisfaction was not proven to be a mediator (β=0.021; p=0.117), nor was the mediation chain of motivation → satisfaction → performance (β=0.038; p=0.125). However, teacher work motivation became a strong partial mediator (indirect effect=0.346), so that the total effect of transformational leadership on teacher performance reached 0.628 (62.8%). Teacher tenure was not significant as a moderator. These findings confirm that transformational leadership improves teacher performance primarily through work motivation, so it is recommended to strengthen the dimensions of transformational leadership and strategies to increase teacher motivation for the Merangin Regency Education Office and MKKS to improve the quality of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of YouTube media on enhancing students’ learning motivation and participation in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) learning at the elementary school level. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design over two cycles—each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection—the study involved 16 fifth-grade students from Izzatul Islam Elementary School, Muaro Jambi Regency. Data were collected using observation sheets, learning motivation questionnaires, and field notes, and analyzed through descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results showed improvements of 27% in learning motivation and 31% in active participation. Descriptive statistical analysis indicated that these increases were meaningful, and further significance testing using the paired-sample t-test confirmed that the improvements in both motivation and participation were statistically significant (p < 0.05). Students exhibited enhanced attention, curiosity, confidence, and engagement in collaborative discussions after the integration of YouTube-based videos. Overall, the findings suggest that YouTube is an effective digital medium for strengthening students’ affective and social learning aspects while promoting active engagement in the context of digital-era education.
