Abstract

This literature review explores the phenomenon of boredom in the workplace, linking it with existential theory through the lens of positive psychology. It introduces the concept of existential drift—a gradual psychological disengagement that occurs when individuals lose a sense of meaning in their work. Using a structured literature review approach, this study synthesizes findings form 22 scholarly sources to explore how perceived meaning shapes, mitigates, or exacerbates boredom at work. Th review finds that boredom is not merely caused by task monotony, but often emerges from a deeper sense of meaninglessness. Meaningful work is shown to buffer against boredom, while its absence can lead to both maladaptive and adaptive coping strategies. The review highlights the importance of meaning regulation and proposes existential drift as a key framework to understand persistent disengagement in work settings. These findings suggest that organizations should foster meaning-making processes to support employee well-being and engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and synthesize empirical findings related to the relationship between the sense of meaning in life and the regulation of emotions through  the Systematic Literature Review (SLR)  approach. The background of this research is based on the importance of the meaning in life as one of the psychological resources that can strengthen the ability of individuals to manage emotions adaptively. Previous research has shown that individuals with high life meanings tend to use constructive emotion regulation strategies, such as cognitive reassessment, and less often use maladaptive strategies such as emotion suppression. The study examined nine scientific articles published between 2021 until 2025 using databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The results of the analysis show that the relationship between the two constructs is found in a variety of population contexts, such as college students, nurses, women with cancer, and individuals with postpartum depression, as well as across different cultural backgrounds. This study uses instruments such as Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), and DERS. The majority of research is quantitative with a correlational approach. In general, the results of this study show that  the sense of meaning of life contributes to the strengthening of emotion regulation ability, but further research is still needed with longitudinal, experimental, and cross-cultural approaches to deepen the understanding of the relationship between causal and contextual variables.

Abstract

This study is a systematic review that aims to identify, analyze, and synthesize recent findings related to positive psychology interventions in improving teacher well-being. The review highlights that teacher well-being is a central issue in global education, affected by work pressures, policy changes and lack of organizational support. Through an analysis of 14 international journals indexed in the last five years, it was found that positive psychology interventions such as mindfulness training, gratitude, character strengthening, and organizational support consistently improved aspects of teacher well-being, including positive emotions, resilience, self-efficacy, dedication, and job satisfaction. Multicomponent interventions and positive leadership support proved most effective, while the use of technology such as online workshops also showed promise. However, there is still a need for longitudinal research and adaptation of interventions to local contexts. The results of this review are expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions in the development of positive psychology-based teacher welfare improvement programs.

Abstract

The role of women in the family is no longer limited to being the primary caregiver, but also as important contributors to the economy. This has led to many women having to juggle dual roles as mothers and workers. The challenges faced by mothers become even greater when they have children with special needs who require more attention than typical children. This systematic review aims to explore the psychological well-being of working mothers who have children with special needs, a group facing dual pressures from professional responsibilities and caregiving demands. Based on the analysis of 10 selected peer reviewed articles (2015-2025), the findings indicate that psychological well-being is shaped by various factors, including social support, work flexibility, self-acceptance, and healthy coping strategies. Additionally, disparities in access to essential services such as counselling, inclusive daycare, and digital information pose significant challenges, particularly for mothers with lower education and digital literacy levels. While dual roles may increase stress and emotional fatigue, psychological well-being remains achievable through a combination of internal and external protective factors. Therefore, multidimensional interventions encompassing psychological, social, and policy reforms are crucial to enhance sustainably the quality of life for working mothers with special needs children.

Abstract

In our fast-paced and distracted modern lives, simple moments of aesthetic significance are often overlooked, even though everyday beauty has significant potential to strengthen individuals' psychological well-being. This study aims to examine how appreciation of everyday beauty contributes to the restoration and strengthening of mental health. Using a literature review approach, 27 national and international scientific articles published from 2015-2025 were thematically analyzed from various databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, and Scopus. The studies covered the themes of aesthetic experience, positive emotions, self-reflection, psychological resilience, and meaning-making in everyday contexts. The results show that appreciation of everyday beauty - whether in the form of nature, art, moral actions, specific achievements or accomplishments, or social relationships - contributes to increased positive affect, gratitude, meaning in life, and emotional flexibility. In addition, aesthetic experience-based interventions such as beauty journaling and narrative reflection were found to be effective in increasing happiness and reducing stress symptoms. These findings confirm that Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence (ABE) is a relevant character strength as a humanistic, low-cost, inclusive, and contextualized psychological recovery mechanism, and can be an important foundation for the development of promotive strategies in the mental health of Indonesians.
