Abstract

Cast iron material is a material that has brittle properties and is less able to withstand stress due to the welding cycle caused by flake graphite in cast iron. Because of these problems, in connecting cast iron materials using the SMAW welding method, it is necessary to have heat treatment (preheating) to avoid the welding problems on the properties of cast iron. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of heating and non-heating on the cast iron before the welding process. Therefore, this research will play a crucial contribution as a reference for cast iron welding researchers and cast iron welding process. The method of the research was experimental research, where the measurement results were obtained directly from the specimens. The welding was using an open V seam. The specimen used was cast iron with a thickness of 8 mm. One cast iron was given heat treatment at a temperature of 260ºC and the others did not receive heat treatment before being welded. The welding process used SMAW with CIN - 2 electrodes with a diameter of 3 mm. The test used the bending test on the face specimens according to the American Welding Society D1.1 standard. The results showed that there was an effect of the preheating treatment on cast iron, which that the non-preheating specimens were easier to fracture than the preheating specimens. Thus, it can be concluded that welding with preheating is better than welding without preheating.

Abstract

Multi-soil-layering (MSL) is well-known as an emerging technology for wastewater treatment. However, limited studies have been conducted on the crumb rubber industry. Thus, this study aims to reduce the crumb rubber industrial wastewater using MSL system. Four models of MSL conducted it. They are (1) constructed by body size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal; (2) body size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil, fine charcoal, sawdust, and iron particles; (3) tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal; and (4) tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil, fine charcoal and sawdust. The construction models were installed in the variance of the box and each of them was flowed by the Hydraulic Loading Rate of wastewater. Aeration treatment is given to the maximum hydraulic loading rate. The result showed that MSL systems significantly minimize the crumb rubber industrial wastewater under requirements that cover Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Total Nitrogen (T-N) and Total ammonia (T-NH3). It also significantly neutralizes the power of Hydrogen (pH) up to 6. The highest reduction was obtained by the MSL 3 system (tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal). The aeration significantly decreased the BOD, COD, TSS, and ammonia from 85% to 99%. Although the aeration process enhanced the performance of MSL system, however, MSL without aeration successfully treated the wastewater to meet the required standard. This study provides new insight into the effectiveness of MSL system in reducing pollutant parameters of crum rubber industrial wastewater.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between the use of AI chatbots and learning outcomes in the field of basic mechanical engineering among students of SMK Negeri 1 Lintau Buo. Although conventional teaching methods are used, this study is considered necessary due to the insufficient learning performance of the students in meeting the minimum completion criteria. The research method used in this study is quasi-experimental, this is a form of quantitative research. The participants were 59 students of class X of the mechanical engineering program. The analysis of the data showed that both the data come from populations with normal distribution and homogeneity. This has been confirmed by Liliefors and Fisher normality tests. Due to the fact that the calculated t-value of 2.341 exceeded the decisive t-value of 2.002, the results demonstrated the rejection of the null hypothesis (H0) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (H1) at a significance level of 0.05. This was evidenced by a substantial improvement in the average pupils in the experimental group's post-test results, rising from an initial average score of 66.2 to 83.58 after the implementation of the AI chatbot as an educational support platform.

Abstract

Salah satu alternatif dalam pembuatan komposit adalah dengan menggunakan serbuk kayu meranti dan serat tandan kosong kelapa sawit yang tidak dapat di gunakan lagi dapat dimanfaatkan dalam pembuatan komposit dengan resin epoxy sebagai matrik. Pengujian ini di lakukan dengan menguji komposit uji tarik dan uji impak, dengan variasi spesimen resin epoxy 70 % dan serbuk kayu meranti / tandan kosong kelapa sawit 0/30, 10/20, 15/15, 20/10, 30/0 dan 100 % resin epoxy. Hasil dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat digunakan untuk bahan asesoris seperti bemper mobil. Pembuatan spesimen dan prosedur pengujian yang mengacu pada ASTM D 638 Tipe 1 untuk tarik dan ASTM D 5942-96 untuk impak. Hasil dari pengujian tarik dan impak menunjukan kekuatan dari uji tarik yang terbesar adalah 35.575 MPa dengan variasi campuran 100% resin epoxy sedangkan kekuatan terendah untuk uji tarik adalah 13.89 MPa dengan variasi campuran 70% resin + 20 meranti + 10 % TKKS. dan ketangguhan impak yang terbesar adalah 0.28173 J/mm2 untuk variasi campuran 70 % resin + 15% meranti + 15% TKKS sedangkan kekuatan terendah untuk uji impact adalah 0,15695 J/mm2 untuk variasi campuran 70 % resin + 20% meranti + 10 % TKKS.

Abstract

Industri otomotif membutuhkan material yang kuat, ringan, dan ramah lingkungan untuk komponen kendaraan. Material logam yang umum digunakan, seperti aluminium dan baja, biasanya berat dan tidak ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan material komposit yang diperkuat serat bambu dan sabut kelapa sebagai bahan pembuatan bumper mobil. Dalam penelitian ini, dilakukan pengujian terhadap kekuatan tarik dan impak komposit dengan variasi campuran serat bambu dan sabut kelapa, serta resin polyester sebagai matriks. Metode yang digunakan adalah hand lay-up dengan variasi komposisi serat 10%, 15%, 20%, dan 30%. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa fraksi volume 30% serat sabut kelapa dan 70% resin menghasilkan kekuatan tarik sebesar 18,85 MPa dan harga impak 0,265173 J/mm². Nilai ini memenuhi standar kekuatan tarik dan impak untuk bumper mobil. Dengan demikian, penggunaan serat bambu dan sabut kelapa pada material komposit dapat menjadi alternatif berkelanjutan bagi industri otomotif, khususnya dalam pembuatan bumper mobil yang lebih ringan dan ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

Wabah Corona Virus Disease memberikan tantangan tersendiri bagi lembaga pendidikan, khususnya tenaga kependidikan. Kejadian ini membuat lembaga pendidikan menetapkan inovasi dalam pembelajaran yaitu dengan menciptakan pembelajaran online atau pembelajaran daring. Tetapi belajar dengan daring ini tidak akan terlepas dari kendala dan masalah terhadap pelaksanaannya, contoh hambatan yang akan timbul dalam proses proses belajar online yaitu banyak peserta didik yang kurang disiplin dan aktif dalam pembelajaran, hal ini menimbulkan pemahaman materi pembelajaran oleh speserta didik tidak maksimal dan prestasi belajar yang didapat tidak memuaskan. tujuan kajian ini ialah guna memperoleh strategi pembelajaran yang di terapkan dan keterkaitan strategi dengan prestasi belajar siswa. Kajian ini tergolong menerapkan model penelitian korelasional dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 35 siswa. Hasil dari kajian ini diperoleh bahwa nilai sig < 0,05 yang artinya kedua data variabel berhubungan yang positif. Dan data koefisien korelasi mendapat nilai = 0,025, dan nilai koefisien korelasi (r) pada sistem pembelajaran terhadap hasil belajar sebesar 0,429 dengan tingkat korelasi yang Lemah. Dari hasil kajian ini diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa bahwa strategi sistem pembelajaran daring terhadap hasil belajar PDTM di SMK N 1 Padang memiliki korelasi yang signitifikan atau meyakinkan dengan nilai kefisien sebesar 0.429 (42,9%) yang menyatakan bahwa korelasi antar kedua data variabel terbilang lemah.

Abstract

The scarcity of fuel that has an impact on the high selling price of fuel, then there needs to be an effort to save fuel in motor vehicles. The solution to this problem is to use renewable fuel, one of the renewable fuels is hydrogen gas. With the addition of renewable energy in the form of HHO gas (Hydrogen Hydrogen Oxygen) from water electrolysis. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of an electrolyzer on saving fuel consumption in motor vehicles. By using a quantitative method with an experimental research design to test the effect of two variables whether there is a change in the form of fuel savings before and after the installation of the electrolyzer tube. Based on the trials that the researcher has conducted, the results of the study were obtained, namely that the addition of an electrolyzer has an effect on the fuel consumption of 4-stroke motorcycles, both in static and dynamic tests. So with the addition of an electrolyzer, it will be able to save fuel consumption in motorcycles when compared to without using an electrolyzer

Abstract

Sekolah memiliki tujuan untuk mengenali, mengenalkan dan membangun kesadaran siswa terhadap pentingnya perilaku yang mendukung keselamatan kerja. Menurut hasil pra-observasi awal ditemukan beberapa masalah yang cukup signifikan. Masalah ini mencakup tentang hasil belajar yang kurang optimal dalam pelajaran Las SMAW dan siswa kurang memahami serta kurang memanfaatkan peralatan K3. Berdasarkan identifikasi masalah diatas, peneliti membatasi masalah agar pembahasan dalam penelitian ini lebih terfokus kepada pengaruh K3 terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Las SMAW yang dilaksanakan dengan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan analisis korelasional. Pada penelitian ini terdapat dua variabel bebas dan satu variabel terikat yang akan dianalisis. Variabel X K3, serta hasil belajar sebagai variabel Y. Berdasarkan hasil dari analisis data yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara K3 terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa Kelas XI Teknik Pemesinan pada Mata Pelajaran Las SMAW dengan harga r hitung sebesar 0,558 > 0,349 harga r tabel pada taraf signifikansi 5% (N=32), juga diperoleh nilai R Square atau koefisien Determinasi (KD) sebesar 0,311, sehingga dapat ditafsirkan bahwa variabel K3 (X) memiliki pengaruh kontribusi sebesar 31,1% terhadap variabel Hasil Belajar Siswa (Y). Hasil t hitung lebih besar dari t tabel (3,680 > 1,697) maka Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Dari hasil Analisis terbukti bahwa “Ada Pengaruh Yang Signifikan Antara Pengaruh K3 terhadap Hasil Belajar Siswa Kelas XI Teknik Pemesinan pada Mata Pelajaran Las SMAW di SMK Negeri 5 Padang”.

Abstract

Marine waters are crucial for maintaining marine ecosystems and achieving sustainable environmental sustainability. This research aims to analyze the quality status and predict the distribution of temperature, brightness, salinity, pH, and dissolved oxygen (DO) concentrations as indicators for assessing marine water quality. The study employs descriptive statistics to process laboratory test results and field measurements of the tested parameters. Marine water quality status is determined by calculating the percentage of limiting parameters and establishing maximum and minimum values for each parameter as benchmarks. The prediction of concentration distribution for temperature, brightness, salinity, pH, and DO is carried out using Spatial Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) analysis, which illustrates the concentration distribution of each parameter based on data input in ArcGIS Pro software. The findings reveal varying quality statuses at different sampling points, with good conditions at points 4 and 5, where limiting parameter percentages are 22%. Medium quality status is observed at points 2 and 7 (33%) and points 3 and 6 (44%). Poor conditions are noted at points 1 and 8, with a 55% limiting parameter percentage. The study recommends this research as a valuable reference for the community and government to support marine ecosystem preservation and Sustainable marine ecosystem.

Abstract

Implants that can be absorbed by the body may be developed using alloy materials based on zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), and silver (Ag). Zn-based alloys are known for their faster biodegradation rates, making them particularly suitable for biodegradable implant applications. The aim of this study is to determine the corrosion rate and hardness of Zn-0.5Fe-0.5Ag alloy specimens, as well as to examine the effects of heat treatment and the addition of Fe and Ag elements. The research utilizes a direct experimental observation method to analyze the mechanical properties of the Zn-0.5Fe-0.5Ag alloy. The microstructural analysis reveals differences between pure Zn specimens and Zn-0.5Fe-0.5Ag alloy specimens. In pure Zn, the largest grain size is observed in specimens without annealing treatment, while the smallest grain size is found in specimens annealed at 350°C. For the Zn-0.5Fe-0.5Ag alloy, the smallest grain size is observed in specimens annealed at 400°C, while the largest grain size appears in those annealed at 350°C. The addition of Fe and Ag to pure Zn significantly increases the hardness, with the hardness value rising from 33.77 HV (pure Zn) to 61.64 HV. In terms of corrosion, the highest corrosion rate in pure Zn was found in specimens without annealing. In contrast, the highest corrosion rate in the Zn-0.5Fe-0.5Ag alloy was observed in specimens annealed at 400°C. In conclusion, the addition of Fe and Ag elements, along with heat treatment, significantly affects the mechanical properties of the Zn-0.5Fe-0.5Ag alloy, improving both its hardness and influencing its corrosion behavior.
