Abstract

The metal industry in Tegal Regency is classified into ferrous and non-ferrous metal industries. The shipping component industry is the leading producer of the non-ferrous metal industry. The problem faced by the non-ferrous metal processing industry, especially the Small and Medium Industry ship components is the availability of standard materials as raw materials at affordable prices. Instead, SMEs use scrap material to reduce selling prices, as a result of which product quality does not meet the required specifications. This research made 2 (two) formulas of AlSi10Mg(b) from an aluminum scrap mixture where AlSi10Mg(b) is one of the standard materials of cast aluminum alloy recognized by Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (BKI). The study aimed to recommend raw material formulas to SMEs to ship components to make products according to BKI standards. The research began by collecting a database of aluminum scrap composition, then simulating calculations with an Excel program to obtain theoretical chemical composition so that the need for aluminum scrap was produced. The two standard material formulas of AlSi10Mg(b) are made from different main scrap where formula 1 is the piston, and formula 2 is the brake lining with the supporting scrap is the pan, aluminum elbow, and aluminum plate as well as the AlSi49 and AlMg20 master alloys. The simulation results are then cast with the sand-casting method. The cast results are made of specimens testing chemical composition and hardness. The results of the chemical composition test show that both formulas are in accordance with the conditions of AlSi10Mg(b) cast alloy, namely the percentage of Silicon (Si) and Magnesium (Mg) in formula 1 is 9.16% and 0.39% while formula 2 is 10.69% and 0.22%. Both formulas are still with Copper (Cu) content that still exceeds the limit of above 0.1%. The hardness value has met BKI standards above 50HBN.

Abstract

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is a potential feedstock for biokerosene. However, it is problematic when used directly because it is gummy, has a high viscosity and is degradable. Various conversion processes have been conducted that directly convert CPO into biokerosene, but it requires high temperature and pressure. Therefore, as a novelty, this study aims to develop the technology for converting triglycerides into biokerosene under relatively low operating conditions and producing similar petroleum kerosene by electrolysis-assisted and electromagnetic induction. In this study, the conversion technology process was conducted in three steps (i) converting triglycerides to Free Fatty Acids (FFA), (ii) converting FFA to alkanes, and (iii) converting alkanes to biokerosene. Step (ii) is assisted by the electrolysis process, meanwhile, step (iii) is assisted by electromagnetic irradiation. The finding showed that electrolysis obtained 73.47% yield of alkanes and electromagnetic irradiation obtained 78.02% yield of biokerosene.  Biokerosene is almost close to kerosene-based petroleum in terms of colour Saybolt, flash point and Net Heating Value. The findings of this study may provide an alternate technology approach for biokerosene synthesis and solution kerosene scarcity.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat ini memiliki tujuan untuk membuat masayarakat dari kelompok tani jagung KWT Bunda Ramai sejahtera meningkatkan perekonomiannya dan pengolahan jagung kelompok tani pasca dilakukannya panen jagung. Adanya kegiatan ini memberikan ilmu dan pengetahuan baru bagi kelompok tani dalam proses perontokan biji jangung dari tongkol jagung melalui sebuah teknologi dalam bidang pertanian. Pada kegiatan ini, untuk metode penerapan ipteks yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan memberikan sebuah teori pengantar, demonstrasi, praktek, serta aplikasinya. Kegiatan teori pengantar ini bersifat aplikatif (penerapan) yaitu dengan memperkenalkan alat yang digunakan, bagaimana cara penggunaan alat tersebut, apa fungsi alatnya, serta aplikasi yang akan digunakan di lapangan. Kebermanfaatan teknologi diukur melalui penyebaran kuisioner kepada kelompok tani pengguna mesin perontok biji jagung. Hasil dari pelaksanaan kegiatan PkM bermanfaat secara signifikan bagi para petani dari proses kerja para petani dalam melakukan perontokan biji jagung dari tongkol jagung. Kepuasan petani terhadap kegiatan PkM ini terhadap teknologi yang ditawarkan termasuk pada kategori tingkat tinggi. Efektifitas dari inovasi teknologi pertanian dengan mesin perontok biji jagung yang telah diberikan kepada petani jagung memiliki nilai sangat tinggi karena mesin ini memiliki konsep perontokan yang dilakukan secara continiu.

Abstract

Sterilization in the sterilizer unit is one of the important processes in the Crude Palm Oil (CPO) industry but it can cause oil loss in the palm fruit which reduces the oil yield if the sterilization process is carried out over time. Therefore, the sterilization time needs to be considered so that this study aims to analyze the effect of the length of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) sterilization time on oil loss in condensate water sterilizer on the industry of CPO and determine the maximum time in the Sterilizer. This study was conducted at a CPO plant in West Sumatra with a maximum standard of 1.2 % oil loss, the optimum sterilization time can be determined. This study uses a horizontal-type sterilizer through a triple-peak sterilization system. Peak pressure 1 is 1.2 bar; peak pressure 2 is 2.0 bar; and the triple peak pressure is 3.0 bar with a temperature of 130-140 °C. The time varies from 83 – 90 minutes. The results showed that the longer the sterilization time, the greater the percentage of oil loss. In conclusion, the maximum time in sterilizer is achieved under 87.4 minutes with an maximum oil loss standard of 1.2 %.

Abstract

Sekolah merupakan lembaga pendidikan yang wajib menyediakan fasilitas pembelajaran guna menunjang keberhasilan proses belajar mengajar. Fasilitas yang lengkap dan memadai akan meningkatkan kualitas aktivitas belajar mengajar, mencapai tingkat keefektifan dan keoptimalan yang lebih baik. Keterbatasan fasilitas dapat berdampak pada prestasi belajar siswa, menyebabkan hasil yang diperoleh tidak maksimal atau bahkan tidak sesuai dengan harapan. Penelitian ini bertujuan meninjau pengaruh yang diberikan dari persepsi siswa mengenai kelengkapan bengkel pada hasil belajar dalam Dasar Pembelajaran Teknik Mesin kepada siswa program Teknik Permesinan di SMKN 5 Padang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, di mana penerapannya dilakukan setelah terjadinya suatu peristiwa. Dengan menganalisis data historis, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi dan mungkin menjadi penyebab peritiwa tersebut. Oleh karena itu, metode yang dipakai pada penelitian ini ialah model ex-post facto research. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan adanya hubungan dan pengaruh positif antara tingkat kelengkapan bengkel dan hasil belajar dalam Dasar Pembelajaran Teknik Mesin, dengan nilai koefisien regresi sebesar 1,103. Koefisien regresi ini menggambarkan sejauhmana perubahan yang dapat diharapkan dalam hasil belajar siswa sebagai akibat dari lengkapnya fasilitas bengkel sekolah. Dalam analisis data ditemukan bahwa koefisien dterminasi adalah sebanyak 0,270. Terlihat bahwa kelengkapan workshop memberikan partisipasi sekitar 27% pada hasil belajar peserta didik. Hasil penelitian ini mengkonfirmasi bahwa lengkap dan memadainya fasilitas bengkel dapat meningkatkan pencapaian hasil belajar siswa serta memberikan kontribusi pada peningkatan efektivitas pembelajaran di SMK Negeri 5 Padang.

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan modul elektronik berbasis model pembelajaran mandiri yang Valid, Praktis dan Eefektif. Sehingga dapat membatu siswa belajar mandiri dan memahami teori pengelasan busur manual SMAW. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D) yang mengukur pada model pengembangan instruksional ADDIE. Tahapan dalam prosedur pengembangan ADDIE yaitu Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation dan Evaluation . Hasil Penelitian berdasarkan hasil validator ahli materi dan ahli media, modul elektronik yang dikembangkan valid. Berdasarkan respon guru dan siswa, modul elektronik yang dikembangkan memiliki praktikalitas tinggi.Hasil yang dapat diketahui dari peningkatan pemahaman teori siswa serta uji efektifitas dari materi yang di ujikan dengan hasil yang efektif.Abstract: This study aimed to produce an modul elektronike based on a self-directed learning model that was valid, practical and effective and was able to help students learn independently and understand SMAW manual arc welding theory. This study is a Reset and Development (R&D) study which refers to the ADDIE instructional development model. ADDIE development procedures namely Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation and Evaluation. The results of the study are based on the evaluation of material expert validators and media experts, the developed electronic module is valid. Based on teacher and student responses, the developed electronic module has high practicality. The results of effectiveness are known from the increase in the results of students' understanding of the material and the effectiveness test of the material being tested with quite effective results.

Abstract

The primary goal of education was the development of an individual's potential to foster intellectual, emotional, social, creative, and critical ways of thinking. It was important to remember that the concept and purpose of education can vary across cultures and contexts, and attitudes about education can also change over time as social, technological, and human developments occur. This research aimed to solve problems that arise in the classroom to improve students' creativity and critical thinking. This type of research used classroom action research that focuses on improving classroom learning in a practical manner pursued by a teacher by developing activities that can improve the quality of the learning process in the classroom. The data analysis results of the student product creativity assessment were 75% in the excellent creativity category and 25% at the excellent creativity level. Implementation of PjBL model had an effect on increasing student creativity as evidenced by the results of hypothesis testing, namely by testing with the Gain Score method, which there were N-gain results of 0.53 and showed a moderate increase in creativity compared to student scores before the implementation of the PjBL model, which there was an increase in the value before the model was implemented.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the flood intensity in Makassar City, which is influenced by several factors, including land use, slope gradient, land cover, and rainfall. The research method is a quantitative approach using spatial analysis to examine spatial phenomena. The spatial analysis was conducted using an overlay method with a scoring technique to map each variable that affects flood intensity. The analysis results indicate that the flood intensity in Makassar City is categorized into three levels: low, moderate, and high.. The analysis results suggest that in Makassar City, 37.4 km² or 21% of the total area falls into the low rainfall intensity category. In contrast, the moderate rainfall intensity category encompasses 73.3 km² or 41% of the city, while the high rainfall intensity category represents 68.1 km² or 38% of the total area. This research has implications for efforts to control the pace of regional development that influences and potentially exacerbates flooding, thereby enabling early mitigation of environmental issues.

Abstract

Cast iron material is a material that has brittle properties and is less able to withstand stress due to the welding cycle caused by flake graphite in cast iron. Because of these problems, in connecting cast iron materials using the SMAW welding method, it is necessary to have heat treatment (preheating) to avoid the welding problems on the properties of cast iron. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of heating and non-heating on the cast iron before the welding process. Therefore, this research will play a crucial contribution as a reference for cast iron welding researchers and cast iron welding process. The method of the research was experimental research, where the measurement results were obtained directly from the specimens. The welding was using an open V seam. The specimen used was cast iron with a thickness of 8 mm. One cast iron was given heat treatment at a temperature of 260ºC and the others did not receive heat treatment before being welded. The welding process used SMAW with CIN - 2 electrodes with a diameter of 3 mm. The test used the bending test on the face specimens according to the American Welding Society D1.1 standard. The results showed that there was an effect of the preheating treatment on cast iron, which that the non-preheating specimens were easier to fracture than the preheating specimens. Thus, it can be concluded that welding with preheating is better than welding without preheating.

Abstract

Multi-soil-layering (MSL) is well-known as an emerging technology for wastewater treatment. However, limited studies have been conducted on the crumb rubber industry. Thus, this study aims to reduce the crumb rubber industrial wastewater using MSL system. Four models of MSL conducted it. They are (1) constructed by body size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal; (2) body size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil, fine charcoal, sawdust, and iron particles; (3) tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal; and (4) tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil, fine charcoal and sawdust. The construction models were installed in the variance of the box and each of them was flowed by the Hydraulic Loading Rate of wastewater. Aeration treatment is given to the maximum hydraulic loading rate. The result showed that MSL systems significantly minimize the crumb rubber industrial wastewater under requirements that cover Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solid (TSS), Total Nitrogen (T-N) and Total ammonia (T-NH3). It also significantly neutralizes the power of Hydrogen (pH) up to 6. The highest reduction was obtained by the MSL 3 system (tube size of gravel with a mixture of andosol soil and fine charcoal). The aeration significantly decreased the BOD, COD, TSS, and ammonia from 85% to 99%. Although the aeration process enhanced the performance of MSL system, however, MSL without aeration successfully treated the wastewater to meet the required standard. This study provides new insight into the effectiveness of MSL system in reducing pollutant parameters of crum rubber industrial wastewater.
