Abstract

The findings of observations at a school, specifically the learning preferences of the pupils in class X PPLG B at SMK N Surakarta, served as the impetus for this investigation. The goal of this study is to examine how students' learning styles in class X PPLG B at SMK N Surakarta are described in terms of the Bobby DePorter hypothesis. A qualitative methodology is employed with a descriptive-analytical method for the investigation. Ten pupils from class X PPLG B and two PPLG field teachers participated in this study. The approach of purposive sampling was employed in the selection of participants. Data for the study was gathered via interviews and observation. Ten participants—students enrolled in a basic computer assembly course at one of Surakarta's public vocational schools—were directly observed during the observation. When the students were working on their computer assembly subject practicum, the observation procedure lasted for around four hours of class time. Two participants were interviewed face-to-face, namely instructors of the core subject of the program of expertise at one of Surakarta's public vocational schools. The interview procedure with the teacher was conducted for roughly 20 minutes with 6 questions about the learning styles of pupils in class X PPLG B at SMK N Surakarta. There is a wide range of learning styles in class X PPLG B, including auditory, kinesthetic, and visual learning styles, according to the findings of the interview with the teacher. This is also evident in the observational data, which shows that each student uses a particular learning style based on their unique set of traits.

Abstract

Infection symptoms are physical or mental characteristics that indicate a disease condition, especially those visible to the patient. The World Health Organization (WHO) issued a document containing symptoms of infection by the Covid-19 virus, including fever, dry cough, fatigue, and shortness of breath. These symptoms have similarities with illnesses caused by Influenza and Cold viruses, and it is difficult for most people to distinguish the differences between them. We proposed a Research and Development (RnD) study, developing an android app that embeds a Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) algorithm. However, this article will not cover the development process of the android app, but mostly how the algorithm works. This study aims to help people differentiate Influenza, Cold, and Covid-19 virus infections based on their symptoms through an Android-based application. We used weights provided by WHO and several related studies to be processed by the SAW decision-making algorithm, one of the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) algorithms, a method that makes decisions based on multiple conflicting criteria. The user can get the most similar type of infection by entering the symptoms. The app showed its potential in achieving research objectives and the feasibility of being applied in the community.

Abstract

The use of technology in learning creates the need for applications and learning media that can improve students' critical thinking skills. The SAMR model (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition), which offers teaching methods by integrating technology, can affect the learning process by improving students' critical thinking skills. This quantitative study used an experimental approach with a Posttest Only Control Design by dividing the sample into two groups (control and experimental classes) with cluster random sampling technique sampling on 54 students. The results of the post-test cognitive ability of the control class obtained an average value of 16.52, and in the experimental class, 19.63. Furthermore, the results of the post-test effective ability of the control class obtained an average value of 74.76 and in the experimental class of 84.07. This shows differences in students' critical thinking skills between students who use the SAMR model and those who do not use the SAMR model. In the results of the N-Gain analysis that has been carried out on the posttest value of the cognitive ability of the control class and the experimental class, the gain value of 0.33 is included in the medium criteria. While the N-Gain on the posttest value of the cognitive ability of the control class and the experimental class obtained a gain value of 0.19 which is included in the Low criteria. This study proves that the use of the SAMR model influences students' critical thinking skills, and the SAMR model has proven effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Computer network learning is learning that prioritizes practice compared to theory to be able to understand the material more clearly. Therefore, computer network learning requires real learning media to support learning effectiveness. However, because the cost of procuring computer network learning media is quite large, it is one of the main obstacles. By using a computer network simulator application is one way to overcome these obstacles. At this time there are several computer network simulator applications that can be used to support computer network learning activities to run efficiently. In this study, researchers evaluate and analyze several network simulation applications, to find out which applications are more efficient to use in learning computer networks, seen from the application capabilities in IP Address configuration, Subnetting, Routing. This study uses the observation method of computer network simulator applications that have been determined, namely the application of (1) Cisco Packet Tracer, (2) GNS3, (3) EVE-NG, (4) Boson Netsim, using the LORI research instrument version 1.5. This research has several stages, namely data collection, data reduction, scoring, data presentation, drawing conclusions and measured using a Likert scale. The results of this study indicate that the application (1) Cisco Packet Tracer ranks first with a value of 89.1%, (2) Boson Netsim is in second place with a score of 86.6%, (3) GNS3 ranks third with a value of 85.4%, (4) EVE-NG ranks fourth or lowest with a score of 83.3%.

Abstract

Educators must serve as role models for students by highlighting the ideals of the Pancasila student profile through their examples. Teachers who instruct in the classroom can impart this. Instructors serve as role models for moral behavior, modeling moral principles in their interactions and behaviors. Based on the Pancasila profile ideals, students are therefore more likely to emulate and accept the behavior displayed by their teachers. The purpose of this study is to describe two things: 1) how teachers implement Pancasila profile values to help students develop their character and behavior as a class culture; and 2) how they integrate Pancasila student profile values into the cultural context of vocational school classes. This kind of study is qualitative and descriptive. Participants in this study included two teachers one for the basic PPLG skills program and the other for homeroom as well as class X PPLG students. Two participants' in-person interviews, four hours of subject observation, and documentation were employed as the data-gathering methods. The study's findings demonstrate how X PPLG at SMK N Solo uses classroom culture as a platform for character development. Although there is no physical barrier between the teacher and the pupils in this approach, the teacher still serves as the class leader and an example for the students. The instructor highlights the importance of the Pancasila student profile in the learning process. This attempts to mold kids' honorable and moral character.
