Abstract

This study explores the impact of Islamic legal literacy on promoting environmentally sustainable practices within the An-Nadzir community in Gowa, South Sulawesi. The primary aim of the research is to examine how knowledge of Islamic environmental ethics influences behaviors that contribute to environmental conservation. The study adopts a qualitative approach, gathering data through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and a review of relevant literature. Interviews were conducted with members of the An-Nadzir community, while observations focused on their daily practices related to environmental sustainability. The findings suggest that a higher level of Islamic legal literacy significantly shapes the community’s adoption of environmentally friendly practices, including organic farming, waste management, and collective environmental efforts. The community’s leader plays a key role, as his example and teachings on Islamic stewardship (tadbīr al-khalīfah) have been central to promoting these practices. The research concludes that Islamic legal literacy fosters a cultural shift within the community, transforming environmental conservation into a shared responsibility. This cultural transformation highlights the potential of integrating religious teachings into practical environmental actions. Moreover, it offers valuable insights for other religious communities, showing how faith-based legal literacy can influence sustainable development. The study suggests that future research could examine similar cases in other religious contexts, helping to further explore the role of religious literacy in promoting sustainable practices across different communities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using flashcard media on students’ mastery of Arabic vocabulary through a meta-analysis experimental approach. The meta-analysis design employed in this study involves the analysis of 20 primary studies published between 2017 and 2025 that met the predetermined inclusion criteria, with a total sample size of 485 in the control group (Nc) and 494 in the experimental group (Ne). The results of the calculation using Comprehensive Meta Analysis (CMA) with a random-effects approach yielded a combined effect size of (g = 1.104; p < 0.000), indicating that flashcard media has a large effect on students’ Arabic vocabulary mastery. This large effect size demonstrates that, overall, flashcard media has a significant impact on improving vocabulary acquisition, thereby accelerating students’ learning processes. Moderator analysis based on educational level, class size, and year of study showed no significant differences (p = 0.786; 0.079; 0.750). These findings strengthen the argument that flashcard media is not only engaging but also effective across various learning contexts. This meta-analysis provides more accurate and reliable conclusions compared to single studies, which are often limited by small sample sizes or narrow contexts. Furthermore, this study offers deeper and more objective insights into the effectiveness of flashcard media in Arabic language learning and can serve as a consideration for educators in addressing challenges in students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain data and information regarding the types of errors and to identify the causal factors of errors in writing simple Arabic sentences among tenth grade students at MAN 1 Makassar City. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method with a sample of 25 students. Data were collected through a writing test instrument and a questionnaire. The findings revealed that the students' writing ability was categorized as low, with an average score of 29.2. A total of 463 errors were identified, comprising: harakat (vowel diacritic) errors (292 errors or 63.07%), errors in connecting the mubtada' (72 errors or 15.55%), errors in completing the khabar (44 errors or 9.50%), and errors in constructing nominal sentences—jumlah ismiyyah (55 errors or 11.88%). The test results were inconsistent with the questionnaire results, as the questionnaire indicated that students tended to have positive perceptions toward learning Arabic writing. The errors were attributed to two factors: internal factors including low mastery of nahwu-sharaf grammatical rules and limited vocabulary; and external factors including insufficient writing practice, less varied teaching methods, and an unsupportive learning environment.

Abstract

Listening comprehension among third-grade students at MIN 1 Gowa was evaluated by examining the integration of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method. A quantitative quasi-experimental framework using a nonequivalent control group design was established, involving a cohort of 36 students in the experimental class and 35 students in the control class. While the experimental group received TPR training, the control group followed standard conventional teaching. The assessment metrics consisted of a ten-item test comprising five true-false queries and five multiple-choice questions. Empirical records show that the experimental group mean score surged from 23.89 in the pre-test to 51.39 in the post-test, whereas the control group progressed from 23.43 to 36.29. Wilcoxon test calculations indicated significance values of less than 0.001 for the experimental cohort and 0.002 for the control group, verifying distinct performance shifts in both settings. This divergence is further corroborated by a Mann-Whitney test yielding a significance value of 0.002, falling below the 0.05 threshold. Consequently, TPR serves as a highly reliable approach to strengthen students' receptive language competencies, offering an active, engaging, and meaningful instructional alternative for language classrooms.
