Abstract

Correctional inmates have pressure in living their lives, so the behavior carried out by inmates in an effort to respond to this pressure is interesting. Adaptive coping behavior encourages the formation of one's positive attitude towards problems. This research attempted to obtain an overview of adaptive coping behavior in prisoners by employing a phenomenological qualitative design as the research approach applied through observation and semi-structured interviews with 7 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The result indicated, the respondents experienced problems such as lack of emotional control, disapproval of punishment, feeling guilty about family, lack of enthusiasm for life, feelings of resentment towards the company, feelings guilty about childhood and lack of ability to interact socially. The respondents exhibited coping behavior, such as accepting and surrendering (emotion-focused coping), planning a structured life (problem-focused coping), getting visits from family (social support), getting attention from their life partner (dyadic coping), performing reappraisal (positive reappraisal), having a strong character (character strength) and having the desire to memorize the Qur'an (religious coping). From these findings, it is known coping behavior affects an individual's personality. In this way, individuals will be able to adapt well to their environment. Exploring and applying coping behavior is highly recommended after this research.

The rise of news about crimes of sexual violence in early childhood has resulted in the number of sexual violence in Indonesia increasing drastically every year. This can be seen from the KemenPPPA data which states that sexual violence experienced by children in Indonesia reaches a percentage of 45.08%. This study aims to determine the concept of sexuality education in UNNES Labschool Kindergarten and the integration of sexuality education in UNNES Labschool Kindergarten. This study used a qualitative research method with a case study approach at the UNNES Labschool Kindergarten. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. Methods of data analysis using descriptive analysis. The results of this study indicate that the concept of sexuality education starts from identifying children's self-identities until children know how to protect themselves from attempts at sexual violence. And basically children already know their own identity and are able to protect themselves from attempts at sexual violence. Parents have hope that in the future there will be an association or organization that can deal with sexual violence against children. Actually, sex education and sexuality education have different meanings.

Abstract

The importance of children expressing their opinions, being heard, and being facilitated has a significant impact on their lives and serves as a protective factor against various risks. Freedom of speech is an important element in improving children's welfare, safety, and development. This study aims to explore children's perspectives on their ideal teacher, based on their right to express their thoughts on the definition of an ideal teacher according to them. The research used a qualitative method with a case study approach through two-cycle coding, where the first coding was done on data units and the second coding was used to validate the previous results. The research participants consisted of 39 children, 12 guardians, and two kindergarten and RA teachers in Pati Regency, with data obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that the two teachers from the kindergarten and RA were viewed as ideal teachers by both children and adults, with characteristics including pedagogical competence, personality, professionalism, social skills, and attractive appearance. This study contributes to broadening the understanding of children's voices regarding ideal teachers in early childhood education, which can serve as a basis for teachers to improve the quality of learning and pedagogical relationships that are more child-centered.

Abstract

Memorization is an activity that requires motivation, perseverance, habit formation, and appropriate guidance from an educator. In early childhood, enthusiasm for memorization tends to be unstable, requiring continuous support. Based on these conditions, this study was conducted to examine the role of tahfidz teachers in increasing the motivation of students to memorize in the Tahfidz Belia Program at the Bustanul Qur'an Al-Asror Islamic Boarding School. The study applied a qualitative approach with data collection methods in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. Primary data was obtained through direct observation and interviews, while secondary data was obtained from documents and records of the students' memorization progress. The results of the study show that tahfidz teachers play a significant role in guiding students during the memorization process. Teachers not only act as motivators, but also as mentors, inspirers, and evaluators who systematically monitor memorization progress. Various strategies were implemented to increase motivation, including setting memorization targets, individualized approaches, rewards, and structured tahfidz routines. This approach proved effective in increasing the students' discipline and enthusiasm for learning. The study also identified inhibiting factors, such as young age, lack of focus, and peer influence. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for educational institutions in developing more effective tahfidz programs.

Abstract

The demanding workload and responsibilities faced by early childhood education (PAUD) teachers often contribute to mental health challenges, which in turn affect their productivity. Support from school principals is essential in fostering a healthy and effective educational environment. This study examined the influence of principal support on the mental health and work productivity of PAUD teachers in Semarang City. A total of 111 teachers were selected through purposive sampling using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error. The sample included only schools led by principals who do not simultaneously serve as teachers. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed via Google Forms. Statistical analyses included tests for normality, significance, linearity, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and multiple regression. The findings revealed that principal support has a significant positive effect on both the mental health and work productivity of PAUD teachers. Enhanced support from principals was associated with better mental well-being among teachers, which in turn led to increased productivity. Furthermore, the effect of principal support in maintaining teachers’ mental health accounted for 46.2% of the variance in their work productivity. Principal support plays a vital role in maintaining teachers’ mental health and enhancing their productivity. Strengthening leadership support within early childhood education settings can contribute to improved teacher performance and overall educational quality.

Abstract

This paper discusses the increasing attention to the mental health of elementary school-aged children, particularly regarding the potential for the emergence of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) symptoms at an early age. The school environment plays a crucial role in shaping a child's personality and social behavior, making early detection and prevention of NPD crucial. This paper aims to review research trends on early detection and prevention strategies for NPD in schools between 2020 and 2025, encompassing psychological approaches, the roles of teachers and school counselors, and the effectiveness of implemented interventions. This research method uses a systematic literature review approach by analyzing 20 Google Scholar-indexed journal articles relevant to the topic of NPD in elementary school-aged children during that time period. The results of the study indicate that (1) research on NPD in the school environment has begun to increase post-pandemic with a focus on children's mental health and social behavior, (2) early detection strategies utilize behavioral observation, simple psychological assessments, and parental involvement, and (3) effective prevention efforts are carried out through character education, empathy building, and emotional management in the classroom. The conclusion of this study confirms that early detection and prevention of NPD in students at school is very important for building an emotionally healthy learning environment, and can be a basis for developing psychological intervention programs in schools in the future.
