Abstract

Background: Children are vulnerable to air pollution, especially in their early life and so far there are no personal hygiene promotion strategies specifically aimed at addressing health threats or vulnerabilities in children in industrial areas. Therefore, the study aimed to determine teachers' views on air pollution and personal hygiene promotion strategies for children's health. Methods: This study used a quantitative method conducted with structured interviews. Respondents in this study were kindergarten teachers who taught in Ngaliyan District, totaling 95 teachers. The data analysis technique used was theme analysis technique. Results: Based on the interview results, teachers' views on air pollution are categorized as good. Respondents can mention sources of information about air pollution, causes of air pollution, the effect of air pollution on children's health, and diseases that arise due to air pollution. Teachers' views regarding personal hygiene promotion strategies are not good, especially in protecting children's health from air pollution. Conclusion: Teachers' views on air pollution are good but in personal hygiene promotion strategies, especially related to protecting children's health from exposure and the impact of air pollution, counseling, seminars, workshops, or similar activities are still rare. This study is expected to contribute to early childhood education, especially related to children's health.

Abstract

Polygamous family structures present unique challenges to early childhood development, particularly in terms of emotional security, social adaptability, and access to paternal care, yet remain underexplored in academic research. This study explores the role of fathering in shaping early childhood adjustment within polygamous family structures. It investigates how different levels of paternal involvement, such as caregiving, emotional support, and educational engagement, affect children's social and emotional development. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving two fathers who live separately from one or more of their wives and serve as the sole economic providers in their households. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns of fathering practices and their relation to children's adjustment outcomes. Findings reveal stark contrasts between the two parenting approaches. One father demonstrated high engagement, shared household responsibilities, and fostered autonomy in educational decision-making, contributing to the child’s emotional security and social adaptability. In contrast, the other father adhered to traditional and authoritative roles, fully delegating caregiving to his wives and limiting his children’s external social exposure, which may hinder their emotional development and peer interaction. This study highlights the importance of culturally contextualized fathering and calls for inclusive parenting programs that accommodate diverse family structures, especially within polygamous contexts. However, the study is limited by its small sample size and context-specific focus, which may constrain the broader applicability of its conclusions. Future research is recommended to involve more diverse participants across regions and apply longitudinal methods to explore long-term patterns of fathering and early childhood development within varied family configurations.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the perceptions of kindergarten teachers and grade 1 elementary school teachers regarding the PAUD-SD transition period in terms of teacher pedagogical competence, and what are the effects of pedagogical competence on the enjoyment of the PAUD-SD transition period. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach. The population used in this study were kindergarten teachers and grade 1 elementary school teachers at the driving school in Semarang City. The research sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique of 35 kindergarten teachers and 35 grade 1 elementary school teachers, data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. This study uses classical assumption tests such as normality tests, linearity tests, independent t-tests and simple correlation tests. The results of the independent t-test produced that there were differences in the perceptions of kindergarten teachers and elementary school teachers regarding the implementation of the PAUD-SD transition period. And these perceptions are the same regarding pedagogical competence as a predictor of the PAUD-SD transition period. In this study, it was found that pedagogical competence influenced the enjoyment of the PAUD-SD transition period. So the higher the pedagogical competence, the higher the PAUD to SD transition. Judicious use of keywords may increase the ease with which interested parties can locate our article.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh literasi gizi terhadap kemampuan orang tua dalam memilih nutrisi untuk anak usia dini. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada pentingnya peran orang tua dalam pengambilan keputusan gizi anak yang berdampak langsung terhadap tumbuh kembangnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain regresi linear sederhana dan melibatkan 43 responden orang tua yang memiliki anak usia di bawah lima tahun di Kelurahan Wates, Kecamatan Ngaliyan, Kota Semarang. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner daring. Hasil uji regresi menunjukkan bahwa literasi gizi tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan orang tua dalam memilih nutrisi, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,324 (>0,05) dan R Square sebesar 0,024, yang berarti hanya 2,4% kemampuan orang tua dapat dijelaskan oleh literasi gizi. Temuan ini mengindikasikan perlunya mempertimbangkan faktor-faktor lain seperti tingkat pendidikan, pendapatan, budaya, dan akses informasi. Meskipun tidak signifikan secara statistik, literasi gizi tetap memiliki peran penting sebagai dasar pengetahuan dalam pengambilan keputusan gizi. Oleh karena itu, pendekatan komprehensif sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pemilihan nutrisi anak usia dini oleh orang tua.

Abstract

This study aimed to discuss the influence of coping stress and parenting stress of young teachers who have early childhood in Temanggung Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach using two measuring scales; Brife Cope Scale with 28 items and an adapted Parental Stress Scale (PSS) scale of 15 items. Sampling using purposive sampling technique, which is distributed through questionnaires with the specified criteria, at PAUD Institutions in Temanggung, which obtained a total sample of N = 96 young mother teachers who have early childhood. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression analysis. From the results of the analysis, showing the significance value of stress coping of 0.005 (p < 0.05) on parenting stress, then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, so it can be concluded that stress coping has an influence on the parenting stress of young teachers who have early childhood in Temanggung PAUD units. Stress coping affects the parenting stress of young teachers who have early childhood by 11.7%. Young teacher mothers with high levels of stress coping tend to experience low levels of parenting stress.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the natural environment on the effectiveness of guidance and counseling at Nufo Planet School, Rembang. The natural environment surrounding educational institutions is increasingly recognized for its potential influence on student well-being and academic achievement. Employing a qualitative approach, the research utilizes interviews and observations to explore how the natural surroundings at Nufo Planet School contribute to guidance and counseling. The findings indicate that the natural environment plays a significant role in enhancing the effectiveness of counseling sessions, creating a supportive atmosphere for emotional expression and psychological support among students. The implications of these findings underscore the importance of integrating natural elements into educational settings to enhance the effectiveness of counseling interventions.

Abstract

Kegiatan membatik masuk pada ranah seni rupa, yang mana kegiatan ini sama sekali belum pernah dilaksanakan di RA Al Asror. Beberapa kegiatan seni rupa yang pernah dilaksanakan di RA Al Asror antara lain finger print, finger painting, menggambar, mewarnai, mencetak, menjiplak, dan kolase. Permasalahan mitra dikerucutkan pada bidang pendidikan sebagai masalah utama yang perlu dituntaskan. Adapun fokus permasalahan mitra adalah belum dikenalkannya aktivitas seni rupa secara konret. Permasalahan mitra dituntaskan melalui kegiatan membatik dengan teknik shibori. Shibori merupakan salah satu teknik dalam membuat batik yang dapat diterapkan pada anak usia dini. Guna memudahkan pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian bersama mitra, tim pelaksana pengabdian menyusun buku panduan pembuatan batik dengan teknik shibori bagi anak usia dini. Buku ini memuat berbagai alat dan bahan yang dibutuhkan dalam pembuatan batik shibori, jenis-jenis batik shibori, tahap pembuatan batik shibori, dan beberapa alternatif karya yang dapat dibuat dari batik shibori. Terdapat beberapa tahapan dalam mengimplementasikan kegiatan pengabdian yaitu tahap sosialisasi, pelatihan, penerapan teknologi, serta pendampingan dan evaluasi. Simpulan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang telah dilaksanakan bahwa kegiatan membuat batik dengan teknik shibori dapat menguatkan seni rupa pada anak usia dini. Pendidik dan peserta didik RA Al Asror mendapatkan pengalaman dan penguatan dalam membuat batik menggunakan teknik shibori.

Abstract

Children's numerical skills sometimes face challenges, therefore ways are needed to maximize early childhood numeracy learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of digital educational games on numeracy development in children aged 4-5 years conducted in one of the Global Kindergartens (pseudonyms) in Semarang City. The method used is pre-experimental  research with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. This participant consisted of 31 children in the Kindergarten A class. Data collection was carried out through pretest and posttest of numeracy skills developed based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 137 of 2014 (National Standard for Early Childhood Education). The results showed that the average pretest score  was 28.00 and the posttest increased to 46.16 after the use of  digital educational games. The normality test shows normal distributed data, while the N-Gain Score test produces an average score of 0.91 which is classified as a high category. The hypothesis test using the Paired Sample T-Test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which means that there is a significant influence of the use of  digital educational games on children's numeracy skills. This increase shows that the proper use of  digital games in learning can significantly improve early childhood numeracy skills. This study suggests the integration of digital educational games in the early childhood education curriculum as an effective alternative to improve numeracy skills.

Abstract

Menjadi Ibu bukanlah hal yang mudah dilakukan. Banyak hal yang harus dipersiapkan ibu untuk menyeimbangkan kehidupan rumah tangga dan kehidupan pribadinya. Ibu merupakan guru pertama bagi anaknya. Puskesmas Sekaran, sebagai leading sector pelaksana posyandu di wilayah Sekaran mengaku bahwa kedatangan keluarga urban di wilayah binaannya menjadi tantangan tersendiri untuk dapat memantau tumbuh kembang anak. Tidak bisa dipungkiri bahwa ibu urban dan penduduk asli memiliki cara pandang tersendiri dalam mengasuh anak. Pelaksanaan kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan kemampuan manajemen ibu urban muda yang memiliki anak usia dini. Lebih lanjut peningkatan keterampilan ibu urban muda dalam mengasuh anak pada aspek perkembangan kognitif, fisik, dan sosial emosional. Kemampuan manajemen ibu dalam menstimulasi anak usia 0-6 tahun. Tujuan kegiatan ini selaras dengan capaian IKU 2 dan IKU 5 serta sejalan dengan SDGs terkait pendidikan berkualitas dan kemitraan untuk mencapai tujuan.  Metode pelaksanaan memiliki lima tahapan kegiatan, yaitu: Socialitation, Training Education, Experience, Mentoring, dan Monitoring, evaluation, feedback. Mitra telah mencapai target peningkatan level pemberdayaan atas dilaksanakannya penguatan playful parenting pada tahun 2024.
