Abstract

Abstract

The development of application-based food delivery services is driving strategic competition between ShopeeFood, GoFood, and GrabFood in attracting consumer preferences. This research aims to analyze the competitive strategies of the three platforms using a non-cooperative three-player Game Theory approach. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with data directly selected from respondents who are students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of North Sumatra. Data was collected thru a forced-choice questionnaire on five strategy attributes: price, promotions, application, courier, and merchant, and then processed into a payoff matrix. The analysis was conducted using the best response method (underline/circle method) to determine the Pure Strategy Nash Equilibrium. The research results indicate that there is a Nash equilibrium in the combination of strategies (ShopeeFood: Price, GoFood: Price, GrabFood: Courier). This finding indicates that price competition is the optimal strategy for ShopeeFood and GoFood, while GrabFood gains an advantage thru courier service differentiation. This research provides an empirical contribution to the application of three-player game theory in digital platform competition.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a robust, objective framework for strategic location Multicriteria Decision Making (MCDM) by effectively addressing criteria conflict and data uncertainty. The research methodology utilized a novel hybrid approach, integrating the Entropy method to determine objective criteria weights with a Min-Max Fuzzy TOPSIS model, a modification adopted specifically to improve the consistency and rationality of alternative ranking results. The model was applied to a case study concerning strategic location selection in Batubara Regency, evaluating five alternative locations based on six criteria. The major finding from the objective weighting process was that the Number of Students ( ) was the most influential criterion, receiving the highest weight of 0.294. Subsequent analysis using the modified Fuzzy TOPSIS revealed that Alternative (Madang Deras) achieved the highest performance index , securing the first rank. Numerical validation showed a significant improvement over existing approaches. When compared with the original Min-Max Fuzzy TOPSIS, the Performance Index of the best alternative ( ) increased from 0.588 to 0.673, representing a 14.46% improvement. Furthermore, when evaluated against a model using uniform weighting, the Performance Index increased from 0.449 to 0.673, reflecting a substantial 49.89% enhancement. These results demonstrate that entropy-based objective weighting meaningfully improves the discriminative power of the decision model and reduces bias. Overall, the proposed hybrid framework offers a more stable, accurate, and comprehensive approach for strategic location selection.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of study balance, career balance, and personal life balance on academic achievement in married Master's and Doctoral Program students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of North Sumatra (FEB USU), with academic motivation as a mediating variable. The research population is all students of the Master of Management Science Program FEB USU in 2025, which totals 349 students. This study is focused on 141 married students with a sampling technique using total sampling. The research method used is a quantitative approach with the type of associative research. Data were collected through questionnaire distribution and analyzed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The results of the study showed that study balance had a positive but not significant effect on academic achievement. On the other hand, career balance and personal life balance have a positive and significant effect on academic achievement. These three dimensions of balance have also been shown to have a positive and significant effect on academic motivation. Academic motivation then has a positive and significant effect on academic achievement and is able to mediate the influence of study balance, career balance, and personal life balance on academic achievement. Academic motivation fully mediates the influence of study balance on academic achievement because its direct influence is not significant, but becomes significant through indirect channels.

Abstract

Flow on accrual earnings management with firm size as moderating variable in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2024 period. This study was conducted based on information obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The population in this study were manufacturing sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2020–2024 period. This study employs panel data regression analysis using E-Views. The analytical method applied is multiple linear regression with a quantitative approach. The findings show that only financial distress has a significant positive effect on accrual earnings management, while the other variables are not significant. In addition, firm size does not moderate the influence of financial distress, leverage, or operating cash flow on accrual earnings management. This research is expected to provide deeper insight into the relationship between financial distress, leverage, and operating cash flow with accrual earnings management, as well as contribute to the accounting literature on earnings management practices amid financial pressure faced by firms.
