Abstract

This research examines the value underlying poetry created by artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to uncover the complex interaction of religious, philosophical, ethical, and aesthetic values presented in poetry. Eighteen poems generated by three different AI platforms were analyzed using the content analysis method to identify their social values. The results of this research demonstrate the presence of (1) religious values by revealing the AI’s ability to explore traditional and cultural barriers, highlighting themes of spirituality and faith, (2) philosophical values through the exploration of questions of human existence and the nature of reality, showing the AI's capacity to engage with deep existential themes, (3) ethical values by promoting concepts of unity, fairness, and justice, reflecting deeper humanistic perspectives and societal ideals, and (4) aesthetic values by showcasing an interest in the influence of technology and a profound admiration for the natural world's wonders, integrating modern innovation with timeless beauty. In conclusion, AI-generated poetry successfully captures a broad spectrum of human values, enriching literary traditions and intellectual discussions. This intersection of AI and poetry not only highlights technological advancements in creative fields but also opens new avenues for exploring how machines can contribute to cultural and artistic expressions, fostering a deeper understanding of the human condition and societal values.

Abstract

One of the most crucial language skills for students to achieve is reading. Through their participation in this activity, students can improve their language skills and get experience. Using Google Classroom, this study attempted to examine EFL students' perceptions of reading comprehension. Because TBI (English Teaching Department) IAIN Madura is one of the universities that conducts online learning, it was chosen as the study's subject. This study used a sample of 26 students. Purposive sampling was used as a sample technique in this study. The results indicate that the students submitted useful and good responses. The results show that no student answered strongly disagree (SD), 3 students chose to disagree (11,5%), 16 students chose to agree (75%), and 6 students chose to strongly agree (23%). Google Classroom, it can be concluded, is a solution for online learning classes. As a result, Google Classroom can be used to collect student assignments and, more importantly, to help students improve their reading comprehension. Furthermore, if this application is effective, successful, and also assists students in assisting in e-learning, particularly in receiving feedback after completing the work assigned by the lecturer, it can be used in conjunction with Google Classroom as an e-learning solution for COVID-19.

The primary objective of this program is to improve teachers’ professional knowledge and skills in planning and implementing learning activities that integrate international business correspondence and cross-border communication. The implementation method involved an initial assessment through open-ended interviews to identify existing challenges and the teachers’ level of understanding, followed by an intensive workshop emphasizing content reinforcement and practical exercises in professional correspondence, and concluded with a final assessment using open-ended questionnaires to evaluate competency development after the program. This activity engaged 10 English teachers from local vocational high schools, of whom approximately 80% were found to have limited understanding of the concepts and practical applications of the targeted material. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, particularly in terms of understanding standard formats, using professional language, and recognizing the importance of developing international business communication competencies for SMK students. Therefore, this program has proven valuable in strengthening the professional capacity of English teachers and is recommended to be conducted continuously to ensure the relevance of English instruction in vocational schools with the evolving dynamics of global industry needs. Keywords: English Skill; International Business Correspondence; Teacher Development; SMK; EFL.

Abstract

The present study focused on teachers’ perceptions of how teacher talk works in the classroom and some challenges they might encounter during initiating interaction to encourage students. A classroom observation was done to portray the data of the learning process and teachers’ interview was also conducted to discover insights about teacher talk and the challenges encountered in the classroom interaction. Findings demonstrated that the teachers enacted dominant English communication as the input rather than using students’ first language. They felt increasing the use of the target language would be more challenging as it is influenced by some aspects from both teachers and students’ motivation, attitude, and proficiency. In addition, teacher talk is varied in some extents based on the teacher and student factors. The findings also showed that teacher talk mostly occurred in the form of asking questions, giving directions, explaining the lesson, and praising the students. In addition, as the students were considered young learners, it was found that classroom interaction and language choice must be adjustable in order to make communication become more effective. Abstract

Everyone has an identity and language is a sign of that. The associations in a person's environment, with whom they hang out, and where they learn can all have an impact on their identities. This research aims to explain the extent to which language is still used as a symbol of human identity. The language used every day can be a source of pride. Evidence of this pride can be seen from the development of its use which is dynamic. Language has a very important function to express cultural treasures. However, language over time has also developed. Challenges in learning a foreign language can also be influenced by the use of a person's everyday language. Students have their challenges in learning a foreign language, therefore it can be seen whether the everyday language they use has an influence when they learn a foreign language.
