Abstract

Abstract

Vocabulary acquisition remains one of the key challenges in learning Arabic among novice learners, particularly when instruction relies heavily on conventional lecture-based and rote memorization methods. These traditional approaches often result in low learner motivation and limited retention. This article presents the evaluation of the effectiveness of Wordwall: Arabic Games for Arabic novice learners or beginners as an interactive medium to enhance Arabic vocabulary mastery. A quantitative experimental method was employed using a pretest-posttest control group design. The participants consisted of 30 third-grade KMI students at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, divided equally into an experimental group (n=15), which received instruction using Wordwall games, and a control group (n=15), which used conventional teaching methods. The data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test to determine significant differences in vocabulary mastery. The results revealed that the experimental group showed a statistically significant improvement compared to the control group (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Furthermore, questionnaire responses indicated higher levels of engagement and motivation among students in the experimental group. These findings suggest that game based digital tools such as Wordwall can serve as effective and engaging alternatives in Arabic vocabulary instruction for beginners.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze morphological errors found in students’ weekly insha’ writings within the Pesantren (Islamic boarding school) environment. These errors, especially in derivation (ishtiqāq) and verb conjugation (taṣrīf), indicate limited consolidation of essential sharf principles. Despite the consistent implementation of weekly insha’ activities, dominant error patterns persist, revealing a gap between morphological theory and actual language use. Data were collected from students’ written works, semi-structured interviews with teachers and learners, and classroom observations to capture the teaching learning context. A qualitative content analysis was applied using a deductive-inductive coding process to classify errors into categories such as incorrect fi‘l forms, wazn inconsistencies, and misuse of ism patterns violating sharf rules. A morphological error-tracking matrix was designed to map and interpret these morphological deviations systematically. The findings demonstrate that limited contextual reinforcement and lack of applied practice contribute to recurring errors. Consequently, this study highlights the need to reorient sharf instruction toward integrative and practice-based approaches, with the morphological error-tracking matrix serving as both diagnostic and pedagogical innovation.

Abstract

Listening comprehension is one of the most challenging components of Arabic language learning due to auditory limitations, environmental distractions, and the rapid and non-repeatable nature of spoken language. To support the development of more standardized listening assessments, this study aims to analyze and classify 29 types of Arabic listening test items based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Language(CEFR). Using a descrptive-qualitative approach, data were collected through literature review and document analysis of 29 test types found in al-ikhtibarat al-lughawiyyah. The findings reveal that these test types can be systematically mapped across the six CEFR proficiency levels (A1-C2), each reflecting distinct competency indicators ranging from basic word recognition to the interpretation of implicit meaning in complex spoken discourse. The result also demonstrate that the test variations cover a broad spectrum of listening abilities, offering a representative model for CEFR-aligned listening assessment in Arabic. This study contributes a practical classification framework that can serve as a reference for educators and test developers in designing more objective, transparent, and proficiency-oriented listening evaluations. Practically, this framework enables teachers to select, adapt, and construct listening test items that better align with learners’ proficiency profiles and support more effective instruction and assessment of Arabic listening skills. Abstract

This study analyzes the speaking skill tests presented in the book Ikhtibarāt Lughawiyyah by Muhammad Ali Khun, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The study employed a qualitative methodology using a document analysis approach, with the aforementioned book as the primary source, while CEFR descriptors and relevant literature served as secondary sources. The analysis revealed 17 types of speaking skill tests, including: oral reading, oral questions, oral repetition, sentence transformation, picture description, dialogue, interviews, pronunciation, phoneme tests, map-based questions, free speech, time-telling, substitution, and oral compensation. Among these tests, 6 align with the beginner level (A1–A2), 5 with the intermediate level (B1–B2), while 6 tests do not have a clear classification according to the CEFR. The findings indicate an imbalance between receptive and productive skills, as well as the absence of a clear guideline for matching levels to the CEFR. The study recommends developing tests aligned with the CEFR, achieving balance between language skills, and applying a progression of difficulty levels, in order to enhance communicative competence and linguistic accuracy among learners.

Abstract

The digital era presents major challenges for students in developing Self-Regulated Learning (SRL), particularly due to digital distractions, an instant gratification culture, and weak self-control. This article aims to conceptually explore how the internalization of the value of patience (ṣabr) within the framework of prophetic education can strengthen students’ SRL abilities. Using a library research method, this study examines literature related to SRL, the Islamic concept of patience, and the prophetic education approach. The results of the study show that prophetic education is the basis that the value of patience has a role in building SRL. The first hadith is related to the value of patience that will bring victory, relevant to goal setting and a gradual learning process. The second hadith, patience is afflicted with difficulties and fatigue will erase sins, relevant to instilling values to always strive to evaluate every learning process even though it is difficult. The third hadith is about the value of patience to control anger, relevant to maintaining internal motivation in learning so that it is not easy to give up when facing difficulties and obstacles. So, students need patience to be able to regulate the difficult learning process. Therefore, strengthening SRL requires not only cognitive strategies but also value-based approaches that address the affective and spiritual dimensions of learners. This article offers a conceptual contribution to the development of an integrative Islamic education model that responds to the challenges of the digital age through a prophetic, value-oriented approach centered on patience.

Abstract

Vocabulary is a fundamental component in second language learning, especially for beginners. However, Arabic vocabulary assessment has not been fully standardized according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This study aims to identify vocabulary test criteria for Arabic at the beginner level aligned with CEFR. This research applied a descriptive qualitative method with a literature study approach. Primary data were collected from vocabulary test items in al-Ikhtibârât al-Lughawiyah by Ali Khuly, supported by secondary data on CEFR and language assessment. The results that A1 learners should master approximately 500–600 high-frequency words within themes such as family, time, numbers, daily routines, colors, animals, clothing, weather, and food. Effective test formats include fill-in-the-blank, picture-based multiple-choice, definition-based questions, synonym/antonym tasks, and word usage in context. An ideal proportion of 60% receptive and 40% productive tasks is recommended for beginner-level learners. It is concluded that Arabic vocabulary tests must prioritize validity, reliability, and practicality, while aligning with CEFR for international comparability.

Abstract

The one who looks at the Qur’an will find that the saying has been attributed to a number of sources, some of which have nothing to do with the creation of man, and others are like the earth in the Almighty’s saying: (Then He turned to the sky when it was smoke, and He said to it, and to the earth are our creatures) In this preamble, I will address its content with human creation by mentioning it only, not by explaining its connotations and meanings, but rather narrating them in a narration, for the reason that the Qur’an ascribed the saying to his property that is related to human creation other than mouths and tongues. About the other in saying that they complement each other and look To the Qur`an we find from sources say: 1. Self: The Almighty said: (N) says the same is lost on what is fraited in the side of God. 2. - Leather: The Almighty said: (They said to their skin, you have not seen our priority Everything is your first time and to return. 3. Hands and legs: The Almighty said: (and spoke our hands and see their legs.) 4. This is in addition to the mouths of the topic of the search. 1. Surah Fussilat verse 11. 2.
