Abstract

In 2020, during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic, Kendal Regency witnessed an increase in poverty rates as both national and global levels. Urban areas in Kendal Regency experienced a higher surge of 4.42 percent in low-income families compared to rural areas, which saw only a 0.43 percent increase. Suburbanization played a significant role due to Kendal Regency's proximity to Semarang City, the capital of Central Java Province. Interestingly, poverty-related issues were more prevalent in suburban areas. Consequently, a study was conducted to analyze poverty in urban, suburban, and rural areas in Kendal Regency. The research aimed to achieve two objectives: (1) establish spatial zoning in Kendal Regency based on the three categories, and (2) analyze the increase in poverty during the early period of the pandemic in each category. Spatial zoning was performed using the K-Means Clustering technique, while descriptive quantitative techniques and spatial analysis with the Moran Index and Local Indicators of Spatial Autocorrelation (LISA) were used for analysis. The results indicated that the Covid-19 pandemic affected the composition of poor households differently across urban, suburban, and rural areas. Additionally, the analysis revealed that poverty tended to cluster in suburban areas of Kendal Regency. Keywords: poverty, urban, suburban, rural, Covid-19AbstrakPada tahap awal pandemi Covid-19 di tahun 2020, Kabupaten Kendal mengalami peningkatan angka kemiskinan sebagaimana terjadi di lingkup nasional maupun global.

Initial return is a profit that investors can obtain from the initial share price is lower than the opening price of the secondary shares on the first day. Underpricing conditions occurs because the initial stock price is lower than the secondary stock price on the first day. This study aimed to analyze factors that impact initial returns on companies that conduct IPOs on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, analyze the effects of financial factors (ROE, DER, and BI Rate) and non-financial factors (professional auditors and underwriters) on initial returns to companies conducting IPOs in IDX, and how the behavior of investors towards those analysis. The linear regression data processing using SPSS 16 produced result that only the BI Rate variable which affected the initial return on the seven days, 30 days, and one year after the IPO observation period. The statistical results show the best r-square value is 17.6 percent, which means that the independent variables can be used to explain the effect to the initial return on 17.6 percent.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of digital readiness on economic growth and see the difference based on the level of state income using interaction dummy variables. Networked Readiness Index and its 16 individual indicators is used as a proxy for digital readiness. The research method used is panel data regression analysis covering 105 countries over a period of 4 years (2013-2016). Panel data regression analysis shows that public investment and labor force are significantly positive on economic growth, while inflation has a negative significant impact. Digital readiness is significantly positive on economic growth only in high-income countries but has a significant negative impact in middle and low-income countries. Indicators that have the greatest impact on economic growth are Government Procurement of Advanced Technology in high-income countries and Adult Literacy Rate in middle-income countries. Digital readiness cannot directly increase economic growth without adequate capital and labor factors. Governments of middle and low-income countries should focus more on ICT development, both through ICT infrastructure and the quality of human resources to take advantage of digital technology.

Abstract

Poverty is always synonymous with disadvantaged people in rural and urban areas. According to the OECD (2016) three billion people in developing countries, including Indonesia, live in rural areas, and the majority are poor. The government has made various efforts in Indonesia to alleviate poverty, including through the concept of "building from the periphery" by allocating considerable funds to strengthen rural development. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of village funds in alleviating poverty in rural areas (case study: Belitung Regency) using the Moran's Index Analysis and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) analysis methods. Based on the results of Moran's Index analysis on poverty levels in 42 villages in Belitung Regency, it can be seen that the distribution pattern of poverty in each village is random or unpredictable. At the same time, the effect on poverty shows that village funds in the field of government administration have not influenced poverty alleviation. Meanwhile, the fields of development implementation, community development, community empowerment, disaster management, and emergencies, and urgency affect poverty alleviation as indicated by a "negative" regression coefficient.

Abstract

Abstract

The issuance of Law No. 1 of 2022 as a complement to Law No. 23 of 2004 concerning financial relations between the central and regional governments. Fiscal transfer policies are becoming more selective in seeing local needs. However, this needs to be supported by good fiscal management in the regions to carry out development activities that have an impact on increasing income that is more evenly distributed between regions and communities. One of the important instruments of fiscal decentralization is the management of government spending. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between government spending and per capita income in Southeast Sulawesi. The units of observation analyzed are gross regional domestic product per capita in the previous year, personnel expenditures, goods and services expenditures, capital expenditures, HDI, district and city dummy variables. The model approach in the calculation is panel data regression analysis from 2016-2020. Based on the test results, the probability (F-statistics) is obtained, the equation of income per capita the Hausman test > 0.05, then the random effect model (REM) equation is the best model choice. The results of the analysis show all independent variables have a strong relationship with the dependent variable in the model which is shown by an R-square of 0.982. Variables that show significant effect on the increase in percapita income are (???????(?−1)), goods and services expenditure, capital expenditure and HDI, while personnel expenditure has a negative effect on per capita income for both districts and cities in Southeast Sulawesi Province.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the effect of good corporate governance on stock prices. It was conducted on companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange which were included in the KOMPAS100 Index in 2014-2018 by using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis used was a panel data regression method with a fixed-effect model - least square dummy variable. The results of the study show that the number of board of the commissioner meetings, return on assets, earnings per share, and price to book value had significant effects on stock prices in a positive direction; the number of directors, education/training for corporate secretaries, and price to earnings ratio had positive but insignificant effects; the number of independent commissioners and the number of board of the director meetings had negative but insignificant effects on share prices. The novelty in this study was the addition of the variable of company secretary as an indicator of corporate governance, which was not found in previous studies. Besides, this study added a dummy interaction to see the effect of the level of corporate compliance on corporate governance.

Abstract

Economic development basically focuses its attention on the process of changing the underdeveloped economic structure so as to enable the emergence of new industries to replace the agricultural sector as the driving force of economic growth. The industrial sector has the largest contribution to the formation of the Gross Regional Domestic Product in Southeast Sulawesi Province. However, when considering employment absorption by sector, the concentration of labor absorption remains focused on the agriculture and services sectors. The industrial sector has the smallest share in terms of employment absorption among sectors in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of structural transformation and economic growth on income inequality in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The method used is panel data regression analysis. Research findings show that the transformation of the industrial sector, the transformation of the industrial sector without mining, and economic growth have a negative impact on income inequality. Meanwhile, the service sector transformation variable and economic growth without the mining subsector have a positive impact on increasing income inequality in Southeast Sulawesi Province.
