Abstract

Ecology which studies individual organisms is called autecology, the environment is mainly studied in environmental science which is applied ecology with the aim that humans can apply the basic principles and concepts of ecology in the living environment. In ecology, the relationship between living things and their environment is objective, humans are seen as equal to other living things. In environmental science, humans are distinguished from other living things, and the view of the relationship between humans and the environment is subjective (ecology and environmental science). In ecology, interactions are not only between organisms and abiotic components but also between living organisms themselves. Interactions can occur between organisms of the same type or population.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems provide a variety of ecosystem services, including coastal protection, carbon sequestration, and opportunities for biodiversity. The mangrove ecosystem, which is an intermediate area between sea and land, has a sharp environmental characteristic gradient. The tides of seawater can cause large fluctuations in several environmental factors, especially temperature and salinity so that the animals that survive and thrive in the mangrove ecosystem are animals that have a great tolerance to extreme changes in environmental factors. This study aims to determine and identify the diversity of fauna species in the mangrove ecosystem. The survey location in this study is in the mangrove area of Bungus Bay which is spread over 4 observation points, namely location 1 (Cindakir), location 2 (Kaluang Cove), location 3 (Kabung Labuhan Cino Cove), and location 4 (Pandan Cove) which is mangrove ecosystem as a sub-system of the coastal ecosystem. Based on the results of the field survey, there were no endemic species found in the protected zone on the coast of Bungus Bay. The fauna found in the mangrove ecosystem in the Bungus Bay area is divided into 2 (two) fauna characteristics, namely vertebrates consisting of 5 (five) species, namely aves (birds), reptiles, amphibians, mammals and primates and fish vertebrates. While invertebrates consist of Crustaceans or crabs, carideas or shrimp, molluscs, echinoderms, and polychaeta or worms. The results of the field survey showed that the types of species based on the family characteristics of the fauna found in the mangrove ecosystem at observation location 1 (Cindakir) were less than the number of species found at observation locations 2, 3 and 4 (Kaluang Cove, Kabung Labuhan Cino Cove, and Pandan Cove).

Abstract

Information on the ecological status of inland waters is important to know in the framework of management and conservation purposes, including the biota elements of the Macro-zoobenthos community. This study aims to determine the composition and ecology of feeding acro zoobenthos and its relation to the water quality of Lake Maninjau. Lake Maninjau is one of the priority lakes that has an important role both economically and ecologically. Data were collected from journal literacy. There are 34 types of acro zoobenthos with a low diversity index (H= 0.34-0.82). The distribution of each Taxa was less to nearly even (E= 0.30-0.93). The Macro-zoobenthos found belonged to Molluscs, Oligochaeta, EuHirudinea, Insect Larvae, and Crustaceans. Molluscs were the most abundant, spread over 70% of locations and dominated by Corbicula species. The highest abundance is in the Sigiran location. A total of 26 Taxa were characterized by temperature, TDS, and conductivity variables, while the other 8 were characterized by DO and ORP based on CCA results. The feeding Collector ecology group (especially the filter collector) dominates. This indicates that the waters of Lake Maninjau are rich in fine particulate organic matter (FPOM).

Abstract

Watersheds are a method of managing river water resources with the aim of preserving the viability of aquatic resources in the long term. One of the elements needed for management is how the current state of aquatic resources. Reduced flood swamp areas, sedimentation, decreased water discharge and water levels, and difficulties for some fish species to migrate are all effects of environmental modifications such as damming rivers for irrigation and hydroelectric power and changing the mass of water. In the middle and lower reaches of the river, the addition of anthropogenic materials from various industrial activities can have an impact on aquatic life, fish, and fishermen's catches. To ensure the future existence and survival of fish resources in river waters, it is necessary to manage resources, especially watersheds covering aquatic habitats with various species, as well as multi-species habitats. Watershed management considerations must include a variety of factors, including area/ecology, sector, scientific field, and stakeholders.

Abstract

Dams have a very large ability to develop fish culture, then from that the development of fish culture grows rapidly. This rapid progress greatly resulted in a reduction in water quality, good for the life and progress of fish and their food-living creatures. This dam is also used for capturing fisheries, floating net cage aquaculture (KJA), transportation, and tourism. This research is literary research from several posts that study articles on the status of the sustainability of dams and the sustainability of KJA aquaculture in multidimensional sustainability (environmental, economic, and social sciences). Based on the results of policy research on the sustainability of environmental, social, and economic science and fish farming in dam waters, the sustainability of dams as well as the sustainability of KJA cultivation are very supportive of one another. Prolonged management of the dam will help the sustainability of KJA cultivation.
