Abstract

Arabic vocabulary (mufrodat) is a foundational element in mastering the Arabic language, especially for elementary students in Islamic education. However, conventional teaching methods and limited media often hinder student engagement and vocabulary retention. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Virtual Tour–based interactive media in improving students’ Arabic vocabulary mastery. The research employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 28 fifth-grade students at an Integrated Islamic Elementary School in Yogyakarta. Research instruments included classroom observations, teacher interviews, a student motivation questionnaire (10 valid and reliable items), and a vocabulary test (15 valid and reliable items). The results indicated an increase in mean scores from 48.18 to 72.39. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test yielded Z = −3.888 with p < 0.001, indicating a statistically significant improvement. The mean N-Gain score was 0.48, classified as a moderate improvement.  All questionnaire items scored above 4.0 on a five-point Likert scale, with an overall mean of 4.37, categorized as very good. These findings suggest that Virtual Tour media can effectively enhance motivation, interaction, and contextual vocabulary acquisition. The study contributes to the development of digital media in Arabic language education and offers an innovative alternative for Arabic teachers at the elementary level.

Abstract

Good management in Arabic language learning is crucial to ensure that experiential learning runs effectively and meets its objectives. This study aims to explore the management of experiential learning in enhancing Arabic speaking skills at Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. This study tested data validity through triangulation and analysed the data using Creswell’s interactive model, including data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that experiential learning management at Gontor is implemented systematically through planning, organising, actuating, and controlling. Each stage supports students' active participation in Arabic-speaking practices inside and outside the classroom. This management approach effectively fosters a communicative environment that enhances students’ speaking fluency, confidence, and linguistic discipline. However, challenges remain in maintaining language consistency among all learners. The originality of this study lies in integrating experiential learning management with the pesantren’s language environment to strengthen speaking skills. The implications highlight the importance of structured management for sustaining language practice programs. Future studies should examine its application in other pesantren contexts or among learners with varying levels of Arabic language proficiency.

Abstract

The era of the global economy has shifted the function of the Arabic language from a theological tool to a strategic asset in economic diplomacy; however, higher education institutions remain trapped in a rigid, classical-grammatical approach, leading to stagnation in pedagogical innovation and a mismatch between graduates’ competencies and professional sector needs. This study aims to analyze the transformation of labor market needs and formulate a model for reconstructing the Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP) curriculum that is responsive to contemporary global economic dynamics through a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach with an evaluative-evolutionary design. Data were collected through document analysis and in-depth interviews with key informants, which were then analyzed using the Target Situation Analysis (TSA) and Present Situation Analysis (PSA) frameworks. The research findings reveal that the existing curriculum is still significantly dominated by theoretical material compared to professional simulations; thus, this study proposes an “Integrative-Adaptive ASP Curriculum” model that synergizes specific linguistic competencies with digital economic literacy and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to strengthen mastery of functional corporate discourse. As a concrete recommendation, higher education institutions are encouraged to reorient their curricula through strategic collaboration with industry practitioners and to transform the role of instructors into multidisciplinary mentors to ensure the relevance of graduates in the global market.

Abstract

Background of this study stems from the lack of visual-based Arabic learning media in elementary schools, causing student disengagement. Aims and scope of the paper are to design and evaluate hand-drawn comic strips for fourth-grade students using the ADDIE model to provide a more interactive learning experience. This Research and Development (R&D) study aims to design and evaluate comic strip media for teaching Arabic at MI Al-Huda. The development was driven by students’ need for concrete visual learning tools. The ADDIE model was applied through five stages: Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, focusing on the theme “My Job.” Data were gathered using rating scales involving subject matter experts, media experts, a classroom teacher, and students. Expert validation results revealed that the Aiken’s V index ranged from 0.85 to 1.00 for subject matter experts and 0.60 to 1.00 for media experts, indicating high validity levels. Furthermore, the teacher and students provided highly positive feedback, with mean scores of 4.60 and 4.90, categorized as "Very Good." These findings suggest that the comic strip media is appropriate for classroom implementation, effectively enhancing students’ understanding and engagement. Moreover, the media contributes to a more enjoyable Arabic learning experience for elementary-level learners. Scientific contributions of this study include providing an innovative pedagogical model for Arabic instruction through hand-drawn visual narratives that simplify abstract linguistic concepts for young learners, and suggestions for future research involve conducting large-scale experimental studies to measure the long-term impact on students' vocabulary retention.

Abstract

Abstract

The discussion of the word forms ifrad (singular) and jama '(plural) in the Qur’an has a uniqueness that needs to be explored. We can take lessons from the meanings contained in its use. The word sama ', abshar and afi'dah in the Qur'an. The discussion that is being studied is al-I'jaz al-I'lmi in the verses of the al-Qur'an which contain the same words', abshar and afi'dah. The author uses a descriptive-analysis method in collecting research data. The conclusion of this research is the word form ifrad from sama' is a privilege given by Allah SWT in human creation where the sense of hearing is the same as an unlimited sense means that it includes all forms of sound from various directions, different from the sense of sight whose ability is limited by the field of view. The fresh senses are also the first human senses to do their duty compared to other human senses.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Arabic language seminars in curriculum development for strengthening global da‘wah competencies among female students at Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor (PMDG) Putri Campus 1. The research employed a qualitative case study approach involving observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation analysis. The participants consisted of Arabic language teachers, seminar organizers, invited speakers, and female students participating in the Arabic Language Seminar commemorating the centenary of Gontor. The findings reveal that the seminar functioned not merely as an academic event but as a strategic instrument of curriculum enrichment within the pesantren educational system. The seminar contributed significantly to strengthening students’ communicative confidence, intercultural awareness, and global Islamic orientation through authentic language interaction and experiential learning practices. Furthermore, the seminar reflected the transformation of Arabic curriculum development in pesantren toward integrative and competency-based educational models that combine Islamic values, language mastery, and global engagement. This study contributes theoretically to the discourse of curriculum development in Islamic education by positioning academic seminars as part of hidden curriculum and educational culture in pesantren. Practically, the findings suggest that Islamic boarding schools should integrate collaborative and globally oriented academic programs into Arabic language education to prepare students for contemporary da‘wah challenges.

Abstract

This study investigates Hadisul Isnaini as a Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)-based model in enhancing Arabic proficiency at Gontor Putri Campus 1. Employing a qualitative case study design, the research explores how this weekly program integrates language correction (iṣlāḥ al-lughah), communicative practice, and habitual reinforcement within a pesantren environment. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that Hadisul Isnaini effectively improves students' communicative competence and confidence by creating a structured yet immersive language environment. The program also demonstrates a balanced integration of fluency and accuracy, addressing a common limitation in CLT implementation. From a curriculum perspective, this study conceptualizes Hadisul Isnaini as a form of hidden or co-curricular framework that strengthens formal instruction through continuous social interaction and environmental exposure. The study proposes a habitual communicative curriculum model as its main contribution, emphasizing the importance of integrating structured practice, social mediation, and institutional culture in language learning. These findings offer both theoretical and practical implications for developing context-sensitive language programs in similar educational settings.
