Abstract

The Jigsaw learning model focuses on student activities in learning in general and also has an influence on students' mathematical abilities, but there are also some that do not have a significant influence. This research attempts to answer how much influence the Jigsaw model has based on the desired categorical variables. Therefore, meta-analysis research is needed to provide comprehensive and in-depth conclusions about the application of the Jigsaw model to students' mathematical abilities. Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) is used to evaluate a property's value based on comparisons to similar properties in the same area. Data was obtained from Publish or Perish (PoP) with a total of 500 articles from 2010 to 2023 with the Google Scholar database. The number of journals that meet the requirements and will be analyzed is 30 sample articles with a total of 1252 students. The moderator variables in this study consider country, education level, sample size and publication source. Based on research findings, the Jigsaw model has a significant influence on numeracy skills (P-value 0.05), with an effect size of 1.146 which is classified as very high based on fixed effects and a standard error of 0.045. The research results show that the Jigsaw model is still relevant for improving students' mathematical abilities, especially at the elementary school level. This meta-analysis study reveals that there is no difference in the results of implementing the Jigsaw model on students' mathematical abilities in all country categories.

Abstract

Abstract. This study investigates how the application of Japanese linguistic knowledge can enhance Indonesian learners’ understanding of Japanese adnominal clauses with animate head nouns. Previous experiments revealed that learners had difficulty interpreting semantic roles due to differences between Japanese and Indonesian in case particle usage and clause structure. To address this issue, a two-step method was introduced: identifying the adnominal clause and converting the head noun back into a clause to clarify its semantic role. In this experiment, 20 Indonesian learners at the N3 level were divided into two groups: an experimental group, which received explicit instruction on the method, and a control group, which did not. Results from pre- and post-class tests showed that the experimental group significantly improved in interpreting adnominal clauses. A one-tailed paired t-test confirmed that the improvement was statistically significant. These findings suggest that explicit attention to case particles and clause structures—supported by linguistic knowledge—can help learners accurately comprehend complex sentences. Moreover, knowledge of case particles may serve as a self-monitoring tool for understanding Japanese adnominal clauses. This research highlights the importance of integrating linguistic theory into Japanese language education to address specific learner challengesKeywords: Applied linguistics, focus on form, Japanese language education, adnominal clauses, case particles

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: Ilmu waris (faraidh) merupakan separuh ilmu sebagaimana dinyatakan dalam hadits Nabi, namun implementasinya dalam masyarakat modern sering menghadapi tantangan kompleks, salah satunya adalah kedudukan ahli waris pengganti.

Abstract

This article delves into the intricate relationship between religion and patriotism, focusing on Islam's influence on the affection for one's homeland. It explores how Islamic teachings and beliefs have historically shaped and continue to shape the concept of patriotism among Muslims worldwide. Within Muslim-majority nations, the integration of Sharia, promotion of religious freedom, and commitment to social justice define the contours of Islamic patriotism. Moreover, the concept of Ummah coexists harmoniously with a deep-rooted sense of responsibility towards the local homeland, fostering a collective spirit of belonging and shared societal welfare. In the context of Muslim minorities residing in non-Muslim-majority countries, the study reveals a delicate balance between religious identity and active citizenship. These communities exhibit resilience and positive engagement, contributing significantly to the social fabric of their host nations while upholding Islamic principles of compassion, tolerance, and mutual respect. The research also highlights the global dimension of Islamic patriotism, emphasizing pan-Islamic solidarity and cooperation among Muslim communities worldwide. By employing a multidisciplinary approach, this study utilizes three primary research methods: literature review, ethnographic research, and the analysis of social discourse. Throughout the article, the interplay of faith and love for the homeland is explored, demonstrating the adaptability of Islamic principles to diverse social landscapes and the enduring pursuit of social harmony, justice, and unity. This comprehensive analysis contributes valuable insights into the complex interrelationship between Islam and patriotism, transcending geographical boundaries and inspiring a shared commitment to the principles of compassion and coexistence.

Abstract

The ability to think critically is one of the abilities students must possess. Students critical thinking skills have not been encouraging. There is a need for learning that can improve this ability, one of which is advocacy learning. The study aims to increase students critical thinking skills with open-ended mathematical problems in advocacy mathematics learning. This study is a nonequivalent control group design with a pre-test post-test control group. Sampling using cluster random sampling, randomization was carried out in classes at Junior High School 4 Bandung by taking two classes. Data analysis used Mann-Whitney, one-way ANOVA, and Tukey. The results showed that students treated with an advocacy approach by giving open-ended questions had better mathematical critical thinking skills than those who received conventional learning. Also, students with high prior knowledge had better critical thinking skills compared to the other two groups. This research implies that the advocacy can be used as an alternative to learning mathematics for students with high prior knowledge.
