Abstract

Smoking and COVID-19 have similar effects in the body system, i.e. damaging the airways and lung function. In this work, a mathematical model to study smoking and COVID-19 transmission was studied. The model was proven to have feasible region and it is well-posed mathematically and epidemiologically, the model was further proven to have positive solutions. The basic reproduction number was computed using the next generation method and sensitivity analysis was carried out. The results show that the disease-free equilibrium is locally and globally stable, the most sensitive parameter is the contact rate. The simulation shows that, curtailing rate of contact between exposed, infected individuals and susceptible human population will reduce the spread of the diseases, also giving attention to recovery strategies and controls will reduce to minimum the disease transmission. Therefore, it is recommended that stakeholders should give attention in controlling smoking habits, and prevention and treatment of COVID-19 infected individuals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the language and cultural adaptation process of non-Javanese students at the Mambaus Sholihin Islamic Boarding School, Gresik, East Java. The focus of the study includes: (1) language adaptation in daily communication, (2) cultural adjustment to the norms, traditions, and rhythm of Islamic boarding school life, (3) the role of social support from peers, administrators, and ustadz, and (4) adaptation challenges experienced by students in the initial phase of boarding. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participatory observation, and documentation of six non-Javanese students as primary informants and three ustadz as supporting informants, who were selected purposively. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that non-Javanese students face initial difficulties in the form of limited basic facilities, Javanese language barriers, academic difficulties in learning Pegon-based yellow books, and adjustment to the strict Islamic boarding school discipline system. However, the adaptation process is gradual and shows positive developments through peer support, guidance from administrators, and the adaptive and inclusive pedagogical approach of the ustadz. These findings confirm that Islamic boarding schools serve as spaces for cultural integration and character development for students. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of responsive mentoring and communication strategies to support the adaptation of new students within the context of Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Islamic Religious Education and Character Education in improving tolerance attitudes and learning achievement of private elementary school students in Batam City. Batam City, as a multicultural area with diverse ethnicities, cultures, and religions, requires an educational approach capable of instilling tolerance values from an early age. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method conducted in three private elementary schools: SDS Al Furqan Sekupang, SDS Islam Nurul Haq Batu Aji, and SDS An-Nahdah Sekupang. Data collection was carried out through classroom observation, in-depth interviews with Islamic education teachers and grade IV-V students, and documentation of learning activities. Data analysis techniques used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of Islamic education that integrates religious moderation values, teacher exemplary behavior, and contextual approaches can foster mutual respect, cooperation, and empathy among students. The improvement in tolerance attitudes impacts the creation of a conducive and harmonious learning climate, which supports enhanced student learning achievement. Supporting factors include teacher competence, school policy support, and a positive learning environment, while inhibiting factors encompass limited learning time and variations in student backgrounds. This research confirms that Islamic Religious Education not only plays a role in character formation but also contributes significantly to improving learning quality in multicultural environments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh kompensasi terhadap kepuasan kerja dengan loyalitas karyawan sebagai variabel mediasi pada karyawan BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Kanwil Jawa Barat. Latar belakang penelitian ini dilandasi oleh pentingnya peran kompensasi dalam membentuk persepsi karyawan terhadap organisasi, serta fenomena meningkatnya ekspektasi karyawan terhadap kesejahteraan akibat kenaikan UMP dan tekanan inflasi. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian eksplanatori. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui survei kuesioner terhadap 67 responden yang ditentukan dengan rumus Slovin dari populasi sebanyak 204 orang. Analisis data dilakukan melalui regresi linear dan uji Sobel untuk menguji efek mediasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompensasi tidak berpengaruh secara langsung terhadap kepuasan kerja, tetapi berpengaruh secara tidak langsung melalui loyalitas karyawan sebagai variabel mediasi. Dengan demikian, loyalitas memainkan peran penting dalam memperkuat hubungan antara kompensasi dan kepuasan kerja. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi penting bagi pengelolaan sumber daya manusia, khususnya dalam menyusun strategi kompensasi yang adil, transparan, dan strategis untuk mendorong loyalitas serta meningkatkan kepuasan kerja karyawan

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the direction and strength of the relationship between social media use and academic procrastination among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 27 Medan, while also providing an empirical foundation for the development of school-based guidance and counseling services. The research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational design. The sample consisted of 133 seventh-grade students selected through a convenience sampling technique from a single school population. Research instruments included a social media use scale and an academic procrastination scale, both of which fulfilled established validity and reliability requirements. Data analysis was conducted using the Pearson Product Moment correlation technique. The results indicated a correlation coefficient of r = 0.483 with a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), demonstrating a positive and statistically significant relationship between social media use and academic procrastination. The coefficient of determination showed that social media use contributed 1.7% to students’ academic procrastination, while the remaining 98.3% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Although the contribution was relatively small, social media use can still be considered a potential risk factor. _____________________________________________________________Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis arah dan kekuatan hubungan antara penggunaan media sosial dan prokrastinasi akademik pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 27 Medan serta memberikan dasar empiris bagi pengembangan layanan Bimbingan dan Konseling di sekolah. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 133 siswa kelas VII yang dipilih melalui teknik convenience sampling pada satu sekolah. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa skala penggunaan media sosial dan skala prokrastinasi akademik yang telah memenuhi uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan korelasi Pearson Product Moment. Hasil analisis menunjukkan koefisien korelasi sebesar r = 0,483 dengan nilai signifikansi p = 0,000 (p < 0,05) yang menandakan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara penggunaan media sosial dan prokrastinasi akademik siswa. Koefisien determinasi menunjukkan nilai R² sebesar 0,017, artinya penggunaan media sosial memberikan kontribusi sebesar 1,7% terhadap prokrastinasi akademik, sedangkan 98,3% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar penelitian. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa meskipun kontribusinya relatif kecil, penggunaan media sosial tetap menjadi faktor risiko yang perlu diperhatikan. Abstract

Pendidikan Islam moderat, yang menekankan nilai-nilai keseimbangan, toleransi, dan keterbukaan, memainkan peran penting dalam menciptakan masyarakat yang harmonis dan damai. Kitab Ta'limul Muta'allim karya Syaikh Az-Zarnuji memberikan panduan berharga mengenai pendidikan Islam yang mengintegrasikan pengajaran agama dengan pembentukan karakter yang mulia. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menggali konsep pendidikan Islam moderat dalam perspektif Ta'limul Muta'allim dan relevansinya dalam menghadapi tantangan pendidikan saat ini. Melalui metode riset kepustakaan, artikel ini mengidentifikasi Konsep Pendidikan Islam Moderat yang diajarkan dalam kitab tersebut, yang meliputi bagaimana kurikulum Pendidikan islam modereat, tujuan Pendidikan islam moderat, peran seorang guru dalam Pendidikan islam moderat, murid dalam Pendidikan islam moderat dan metode Pendidikan islam moderat serta relevansinya pada Pendidikan di masa kini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan Islam moderat yang diuraikan dalam Ta'limul Muta'allim memiliki lima konsep Pendidikan dan relevan pada pada pendidikanmasa kini bahkan dapat membentuk generasi yang tidak hanya cerdas dalam bidang agama, tetapi juga mampu beradaptasi dengan perkembangan zaman dan menjaga keberagaman sosial. Dengan demikian, konsep pendidikan ini dapat menjadi solusi dalam memperkuat pemahaman agama yang moderat dan menghindari potensi konflik sosial yang disebabkan oleh perbedaan pemahaman. Moderate Islamic education, which emphasises the values of balance, tolerance and openness, plays an important role in creating a harmonious and peaceful society. Syaikh Az-Zarnuji's Ta'limul Muta'allim provides valuable guidance on Islamic education that integrates religious teaching with noble character building. This article aims to explore the concept of moderate Islamic education in the perspective of Ta'limul Muta'allim and its relevance in facing current educational challenges. Through the literature research method, this article identifies the concept of moderate Islamic education taught in the book, which includes how the curriculum of moderate Islamic education, the objectives of moderate Islamic education, the role of a teacher in moderate Islamic education, students in moderate Islamic education and methods of moderate Islamic education and its relevance to education today. The results show that moderate Islamic education described in Ta'limul Muta'allim has five educational concepts and is relevant to today's education and can even form a generation that is not only intelligent in the field of religion, but also able to adapt to the times and maintain social diversity. Thus, this educational concept can be a solution in strengthening moderate religious understanding and avoiding potential social conflicts caused by differences in understanding.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas konsep pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di berbagai lembaga pendidikan, termasuk sekolah umum, madrasah, pesantren, dan perguruan tinggi. Pendidikan (Tarbiyah) memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk generasi yang siap menghadapi tantangan masyarakat yang dinamis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran tentang perbedaan pendekatan dan tujuan pembelajaran PAI di masing-masing instansi. Metode yang digunakan adalah riset kepustakaan, dengan analisis terhadap berbagai naskah dan literatur terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran PAI di sekolah umum lebih terintegrasi dalam kurikulum umum, sedangkan madrasah fokus pada pemahaman mendalam ajaran Islam. Pesantren menekankan pembelajaran praktis dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, sementara perguruan tinggi lebih mengkaji isu-isu kontemporer dalam konteks Islam. Pembelajaran PAI di perguruan tinggi juga mengarah pada pengembangan pemikiran kritis terhadap tantangan sosial dan global. Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa penting untuk mengadaptasi metode pembelajaran sesuai dengan karakteristik peserta didik dan kebutuhan masyarakat agar pendidikan agama Islam tetap relevan, bermakna, dan mampu membentuk karakter generasi yang berakhlak mulia serta siap berkontribusi di masyarakat. This article discusses the concept of learning Islamic Religious Education in various educational institutions, including public schools, madrasah, pesantren, and universities. Education (Tarbiyah) has an important role in shaping a generation that is ready to face the challenges of a dynamic society. This study aims to provide an overview of the different approaches and learning objectives of Islamic Education in each institution. The method used is library research, with analysis of various texts and related literature. The results showed that PAI learning in public schools is more integrated in the general curriculum, while madrasahs focus on in-depth understanding of Islamic teachings. Islamic boarding schools emphasise practical learning in daily life, while universities study contemporary issues in the context of Islam. PAI learning in higher education also leads to the development of critical thinking towards social and global challenges. This article concludes that it is important to adapt learning methods according to the characteristics of learners and the needs of society so that Islamic religious education remains relevant, meaningful, and able to shape the character of a generation that is noble and ready to contribute to society.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the educational concepts and values ​​contained in Surah al-Saff and their relevance to the educational context in Indonesia. The study uses a qualitative approach with library research and thematic interpretation methods. Primary data are verses of Surah al-Saff and their interpretations in Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Tafsir al-Maraghi, and Tafsir al-Mishbah, while secondary data are obtained from Islamic education literature, character education, and national education policies. The results show that Surah al-Saff contains key educational values, namely integrity between words and deeds, collective discipline and order, commitment to truth, transcendental orientation, and the spirit of cooperation and sacrifice. These values ​​have strong relevance to educational challenges in Indonesia, particularly in strengthening character education and religious moderation. Surah al-Saff emphasizes the importance of role models, consistency of values, and synergy of all educational elements in shaping students who are faithful, have noble character, and are socially responsible. It is hoped that this research can provide a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic education that is contextual and rooted in the values ​​of the Koran. This study also enriches the treasures of Al-Qur'an studies in the perspective of contemporary Indonesian national education.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi informasi yang pesat turut serta membawa perubahan pada berbagai bidang industri, terutama dalam bidang pendidikan. Model pembelajaran berbasis kecerdasan buatan, terutama yang menggunakan web tool, terbukti lebih mudah dipahami dan digunakan oleh peserta didik terlebih ketika materi bersifat teknis. Saat ini, tantangan muncul saat bermunculan web aplikasi yang memanfaatkan teknologi Artificial Intelligence (AI) namun kita belum memahami dasar-dasar penggunaan AI itu sendiri. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini memiliki tujuan untuk memperluas wawasan siswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi berbasis Kecerdasan Buatan atau AI untuk dapat digunakan secara lebih optimal dalam membantu siswa Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) dalam membantu kegiatan belajar mengajar. Dengan pendekatan ini, seluruh pemahaman konsep Kecerdasan Buatan / AI dapat dicapai secara praktis sehingga dapat membantu siswa-siswi dalam mencari materi pembelajaran serta alat bantu yang dapat digunakan untuk menunjang kegiatan baik didalam maupun diluar sekolah. Target dari pengabdian masyarakat ini, tim UTM Jakarta diharapkan mampu memberikan dasar-dasar penggunaan “prompt” atau perintah yang bisa membantu siswa-siswi tersebut menemukan solusi yang spesifik dalam memanfaatkan teknologi web aplikasi AI.
