Abstract

Objective: This study analyzes Generation Z’s behavioral response toward Islamic mobile banking adoption by extending the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with a cybersecurity perspective. The main research question addresses how perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and cybersecurity influence the adoption of Islamic digital financial technologies. This study is empirical and examines the interaction between user behavior and ethical dimensions in sharia-based digital financial services. Design/Methods/Approach: A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing primary data gathered from 100 respondents through an online survey. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM–PLS) to examine the relationships among perceived ease of use (PEOU), perceived usefulness (PU), cybersecurity, and community response (CR). This method effectively identifies both direct and indirect effects among behavioral and trust-related variables within the TAM framework. Findings: The results show that PEOU and cybersecurity have a positive and significant effect on CR, while PU is insignificant. Both PEOU and PU positively affect cybersecurity, confirming the mediating roles of cybersecurity in shaping user trust and behavioral responses. This finding indicates that for Generation Z, usability and digital trust are more decisive than functional benefits alone. Originality/Value: This study contributes to digital finance literature by integrating cybersecurity into the TAM framework as a behavioral trust construct in Islamic financial systems. It provides new empirical evidence regarding young consumers’ responses to ethical and technological dimensions of Islamic digital banking. Practical/Policy implication: The findings emphasize the need for Islamic financial institutions to design mobile banking systems that are both user-friendly and secure. Enhancing transparency, interface simplicity, and cybersecurity literacy will strengthen user trust. Policymakers should develop cybersecurity standards aligned with Sharia principles to ensure ethical and inclusive digital transformation.

Abstract

21st-century education demands the development of critical thinking skills, yet classroom practices are still dominated by less effective conventional methods. This quasi-experimental study aimed to analyze the difference in effectiveness between Project-Based Learning (PjBL) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL) models in enhancing the critical thinking skills of high school students. The data sources were 90 students of class XI Social Studies at a public high school in  Bojonegoro Regency, divided into three groups: PjBL, PBL, and control. Data were collected using a validated structured essay test and analyzed using ANCOVA. The results showed that: (1) There was a significant difference in critical thinking skills between the experimental groups (PjBL and PBL) and the control group; (2) Comparatively, the PjBL model proved significantly more effective than the PBL model in improving students' critical thinking skills. These findings indicate that while both constructivist models are effective, the product-oriented nature of PjBL has a more powerful impact on training synthesis and evaluation, the highest levels of critical thought. This study recommends that educators consider PjBL as a primary strategy to optimize the development of 21st-century competencies.

Abstract

Generation Z Muslims are growing up in a fast-paced digital era marked by complex psychosocial challenges, requiring strong mental resilience (psychological resilience). This study examines how the internalization of the value of ṣabr (patience) derived from the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) contributes to the development of psychological resilience among this group. Employing a library research method with qualitative content analysis, the study analyzes authentic hadith texts alongside literature in psychology and Islamic psychology. The findings reveal that ṣabr in the hadith perspective is not a passive attitude but an active form of steadfastness involving self-control, perseverance, and sincere effort in facing trials, performing acts of obedience, and avoiding sinful behavior. The internalization of this value shapes cognitive schemas that transform perceptions of hardship by viewing difficulties as meaningful tests, means of expiation of sins, and pathways to closeness to Allah (SWT). This process functions as an effective form of religious coping, enabling Muslim Generation Z to engage in cognitive reframing, regulate negative emotions, and mitigate digital stressors such as social comparison and FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). Consequently, the internalization of ṣabr not only enhances resilience in real-life challenges but also fosters “digital resilience,” and the study concludes that integrating the value of ṣabr from hadith with contemporary psychological principles provides a robust spiritual framework for Muslim Generation Z to develop mental toughness, maintain psychological well-being, and adapt healthily to the complexities of the modern era.

Abstract

The study aims to interpret the meaning of the hadith obligation to seek knowledge and analyze forms of stigma experienced by educated women. This study discusses the hadith on the obligation to seek knowledge in relation to the phenomenon of stigmatization against highly educated women. The issue arises from the gap between Islamic teachings, which emphasize equality in the pursuit of knowledge, and the gender-biased reality still found in society. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach and library research, this study applies Norman Fairclough’s Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), which includes text, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice analysis. The findings show that the hadith affirms the equal rights and obligations of men and women to seek knowledge. The stigmatization of educated women does not originate from Islamic teachings but from deeply rooted patriarchal social constructs. Therefore, Islamic education must play an active role in eliminating gender bias through inclusive and just religious interpretation. In conclusion, seeking knowledge is a fundamental right of every Muslim regardless of gender, and Islamic education should serve as a means of social transformation toward an egalitarian and civilized society.

Abstract

The phenomenon of increasing anxiety, overthinking, and inner anxiety in Generation Z indicates a psychological crisis rooted in the loss of meaning in life. This research aims to examine how the values of the Prophet's hadith can provide a spiritual-psychological foundation for peace of mind through the hermeneutical approach Ma'na-Maghza. This method is used to read three hadiths that are relevant to the themes of sakīnah, patience-gratitude, and tauhid-tawakkal, by emphasizing the understanding of the literal meaning as well as its universal message. This research is qualitative with content analysis of hadith texts and the integration of contemporary psychological studies on meaning-making, emotion regulation, and social connectivity. The results show that Generation Z's peace of mind can be built through three main pillars: first, collective spiritual connectedness that overcomes digital isolation; second, patience and gratitude-based emotion regulation that functions as a reframing strategy to face life stress; and third, strengthening the meaning of life through the values of monotheism and tawakkal which foster hope. The reactualization of these three prophetic values can be applied in the form of spiritual communities, Islamic mental health modules, and meaning-based psychological counseling. Thus, this study emphasizes that the integration of hadith values with modern psychological approaches can be a comprehensive solution to the problem of peace of mind in Generation Z.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of bhekalan anak ghik dhalem kandungan, a tradition of matchmaking during pregnancy that is still practiced by some people in Karangnangka Village, Raas District, Sumenep Regency. The focus of the research is directed at the socio-cultural background, the dynamics of implementation, and its relevance in the perspective of Maqasid al-Syariah Imam al-Ghazali. This study uses a qualitative case study approach with interview, observation, and documentation techniques, which are analyzed descriptively and interpretatively. The results show that the practice is understood as a symbolic agreement between families that is not legally binding and still provides space for autonomy for children. From the perspective of Maqasid al-Syariah, this practice is considered legitimate as long as it is oriented toward welfare and does not contain elements of coercion, especially in protecting offspring and property without neglecting the protection of children's rights.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how Generation Z accesses, interprets, and shapes religious spirituality through interactions with digital da'wah and to identify the mechanisms for integrating Quranic and Hadith values within this process. This study uses a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with Gen Z participants and literature analysis to explore content consumption patterns, the tabayyun process, internalization of values, and self-control practices. The results indicate that exposure to digital da'wah does not automatically produce religiosity, but requires source selection, verification of truth, inner reflection, and the application of values such as adab (ethics), honesty, and tazkiyat al-nafs (observance of the self). This study formulates an integrative model for the formation of Gen Z's digital spirituality, consisting of the stages of da'wah exposure, content selection, tabayyun (observance of meaning), internalization of meaning, and implementation of digital ethics. These findings provide theoretical contributions to the study of digital media-based Islamic spirituality and practical support for educators and da'wah stakeholders in developing credible, reflective, and contextual da'wah strategies for the younger generation.

Abstract

This study extends the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by integrating Sharia-based variables—Trust in Islamic Brand, Religiosity Influence, and Perceived Sharia Compliance—to examine user acceptance of the BYOND digital banking application in Indonesia’s Islamic banking sector. It also compares adoption patterns between Generation Y and Generation Z. Data were collected through an online survey of 139 respondents, the majority of whom had migrated to BYOND (96%). The model was analyzed using PLS-SEM with SmartPLS 4.0. Results indicate that the extended model demonstrates moderate predictive power (R²adj = 0.350), exceeding the explanatory capacity commonly reported for the original TAM in similar contexts. Perceived Sharia Compliance emerged as the strongest determinant of acceptance (t = 2.213), followed by Perceived Ease of Use (t = 2.194) and Perceived Usefulness (t = 2.066). Multi-group analysis reveals significant generational differences: Generation Z is more influenced by Sharia compliance and religiosity, whereas Generation Y is more responsive to functional benefits and brand trust. The findings suggest that technology adoption in Islamic digital banking cannot be explained solely by utilitarian factors but requires assurance of Islamic value integrity. However, the relatively small and user-dominant sample may limit generalizability. Future research should employ larger cross-regional samples and longitudinal designs to further validate the extended model.
