Abstract

This study addresses contested interpretations of women's status in Islamic law by innovatively applying Balaghah (Quranic rhetoric) to analyze gender representations in the Quran. Using rhetorical analysis of kalam khabari (declaratives), kalam insha'i (directives), and kinayah (metaphors), we systematically examine verses concerning inheritance, testimony, and women's rights. Our findings reveal that the Quran's linguistic structures consistently affirm gender equality, contradicting patriarchal readings - particularly through its deliberate use of rhetorical devices in key verses (e.g., Q 4:7, Q 2:282). The study's novelty lies in developing a Balaghah-based framework for Islamic feminist jurisprudence, demonstrating how Quranic rhetoric inherently safeguards women's dignity. This provides: (1) a new methodology for gender-sensitive Quranic exegesis, and (2) textual evidence for reforming patriarchal legal interpretations. These findings are significant for contemporary Muslim societies, offering a Quran-grounded approach to aligning Islamic law with gender justice principles.

Abstract

Students’ reading skills depend on their teacher and effective teaching methods are crucial, especially for Arabic language teachers. The Ummi method designed for learning to read the Quran is easy and enjoyable. The Ummi method can be applied to teaching reading in Arabic because the language used in the Quran is Arabic. The Ummi method has three mother tongue approaches: the Direct method, Repetition, and Affection. This study employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design. The research population includes students from SMP Laboratorium Percontohan UPI Bandung, with purposive sampling techniques. Class VII-C is the experimental sample, while Class VII-D is the control sample. Data collection involved observation, interviews, pre-tests, and post-tests. The main objective of this research is to demonstrate the effect of the Ummi method through the mother tongue approach, on the skills of reading Arabic texts. The hypothesis test result showed a significance value of 0.009<0.05, which rejects Ho and accepts Ha. The experimental class had a mean gain score of 23.4531, higher than the control class’s 13.9219. It was concluded that the Ummi method through the mother tongue approach, significantly improves Arabic reading skills.

Abstract

Based on the evaluation of the community service conducted in 2022-2023 in collaboration with the Asy-Syifa Banjar Foundation, it was found that most of the RA and TPA teachers had an ambition to enhance their knowledge and skills, particularly related to teaching Iqro’ and worship practice strategies, especially prayer. Almost all TK/TPA teachers requested the Arabic Language Education Program to help improve their professional quality. Therefore, the goal of this activity was for the TK/TPA teachers under the Asy-Syifa Banjar Foundation to be able to apply the Iqro’ teaching method, particularly through the use of flashcard media, and to implement worship practice strategies, specifically prayer, through the participatory demonstration method. This community service activity focused on teaching Iqro’ through flashcard media and worship practices using the participatory demonstration method. Around 30-40 TK/TPA teachers from Asy-Syifa participated in this activity. The methods used included lectures, practice, simulations, and Q&A sessions. Through this activity, teachers were equipped with various methods for teaching the Quran and strategies for teaching worship practices, especially prayer, using the participatory demonstration method, guided by Arabic language lecturers for the benefit of classroom teaching and learning. The training results showed that TK/TPA teachers understood and were skilled in teaching the Quran using the Iqro’ method with flashcard media and were proficient in teaching prayer using the participatory demonstration method. There were also several significant impacts on student learning outcomes, including: 1) An improvement in students' Quran reading skills through the Iqro’ method based on flashcard media; 2) More interactive and participatory learning; 3) An increase in students' learning motivation; 4) An improvement in social and spiritual skills; and 5) An impact on conceptual understanding and practical application.

Abstract

This research analyzes family values ​​as the foundation for developing an Arabic language education curriculum. This research is qualitative with a library research model. The research data is in the form of family values ​​obtained through several sources: Al-Qur'an, books, and e-journals. The collection technique is carried out with documentation. The author documents family values ​​obtained from various sources and then presents them in tabular form for analysis. The data analysis uses content analysis. The research results show that five values ​​in the family have an eclectic nature for developing the Arabic language education curriculum: communicative, cooperative, creative, responsible, and democratic. The five values ​​in the family have a close intersection, connection, and sustainability for the development of the Arabic language education curriculum in schools and higher education. Family values ​​can be connected to individuals, technology, and information resources in learning. Not all values ​​in the family can be represented in the Arabic language education methodology. Only interactive values ​​can be projected for developing the Arabic language education curriculum.

Abstract

SDN 2 Nagrikaler, bekerja sama dengan Puskesmas, para guru, dan mahasiswa Program Penguatan Profesional dan Keguruan (P3K) Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) Kampus Purwakarta, melaksanakan Gerakan Makan Sehat untuk mendukung pencegahan stunting pada anak. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam dua tahap, dengan tema "Makan Telur dan Minum Susu Bersama" serta "Makan Sayur dan Buah Bersama." Melalui edukasi tentang pentingnya konsumsi makanan bergizi, siswa diharapkan dapat mengembangkan pola makan sehat yang mendukung tumbuh kembang optimal. Kolaborasi mahasiswa P3K UPI Purwakarta memberikan dampak positif dalam penyampaian materi yang interaktif, memperkuat pemahaman siswa. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat dilanjutkan untuk mendukung program pemerintah dalam mengurangi angka stunting di Indonesia.

Abstract

Limbah makanan merupakan salah satu tantangan lingkungan yang signifikan di Indonesia, limbah makanan menyumbang sekitar 40% dari total sampah domestik. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengelolaan limbah makanan di SDN 2 Nagrikaler menggunakan Mikroorganisme Lokal (MOL) sebagai bagian dari konsep Tatanen di Bale Atikan (TDBA). Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam rangkaian In House Training (IHT) bertema "Menggali Potensi Sekolah Melalui Pendidikan Karakter Berbasis TDBA," yang melibatkan siswa, guru, dan mahasiswa P3K UPI Purwakarta. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan MOL efektif dalam mengubah limbah makanan menjadi pupuk organik yang merupakan bentuk dari gerakan food waste, meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap prinsip keberlanjutan, serta memperkuat nilai karakter seperti tanggung jawab dan peduli lingkungan.

Abstract

Interaksi guru-siswa merupakan elemen penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab, khususnya dalam memfasilitasi penerapan kemampuan bahasa dalam konteks nyata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pola komunikasi dengan model IRF (Initiation-Response-Feedback) yang digunakan guru dan siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran bahasa Arab di kelas IV SD. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif analisis wacana kelas. Partisipan penelitian terdiri dari seorang guru bahasa Arab dan 71 siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi kelas dan dianalisis menggunakan kerangka kerja model IRF Sinclair dan Coulthard. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa wacana interaksi kelas selama pembelajaran bahasa Arab terdiri dari lesson, transactions, exchange, move, dan act. Lesson mengacu pada topik pembelajaran, transactions melibatkan pertukaran informasi antara guru dan siswa, exchange merupakan interaksi timbal balik, move mewakili tindakan individual, dan act adalah unit terkecil dari interaksi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model IRF menjadi pola komunikasi yang dominan dalam interaksi guru-siswa di kelas bahasa Arab. Penggunaan model IRF secara efektif memfasilitasi pembelajaran bahasa Arab dengan mendorong partisipasi siswa, meningkatkan pemahaman konsep, dan mengembangkan keterampilan komunikasi bahasa Arab.

Abstract

This paper aims to explore an Intensive Course Program in Arabic learning at one of the Islamic Boarding schools for girls in Indonesia. it is expected that Students in this Intensive Course understand two skills in Arabic, namely speaking and reading skills. Also, it aims to identify the strengths and weaknesses of Intensive Course Program. This study utilized a descriptive qualitative approach with three data collection techniques; observation, interviews, and documentation. It used Miles and Huberman’s technique in analyzing the data. This study showed that: 1) Implementation of Intensive Course Program in Arabic learning at the one of Islamic Boarding Schools for girls in Indonesia aimed to improve language skill including reading and deductive skill including speaking. 2) Pertinent to the strengths and weaknesses of the Intensive Course, the learning system is advantagous to enhance other specific skills, ranging from students’ proficiencies in reading and speaking in Arabic. However, there are also drawbacks. For example, an excellent Arabic environment has not been created due to the lack of students’ awareness of making them accustomed to speaking Arabic.

Abstract

This study uses a semiotics narrative approach to examine the meaning behind the practice of standing during Mahallul Qiyam when reading the book of Al-Barzanji. The research method used is the analysis of Al-Barzanji text and interviews with several informants who are accustomed to the practice. The results show that the practice of standing during Mahallul Qiyam when reading Al-Barzanji symbolizes the respect and honor of Muslims towards Prophet Muhammad as an example in daily life. In this position, Muslims are invited to reflect on the blessings and virtues given by Prophet Muhammad to mankind. Additionally, this practice also represents the joy and happiness of Muslims in celebrating the presence of Prophet Muhammad in the world, as well as a message of unity among Muslims. By understanding the meaning and message behind this practice, it is hoped that Muslims can deepen their spiritual experience and perform their worship with more devotion and significance. This study concludes that the practice of standing during Mahallul Qiyam when reading Al-Barzanji has a profound meaning and contains many religious and spiritual messages that can be taken by Muslims.

Abstract

The process of translation in fact gave birth to a sociolinguistic phenomenon like bilingualism when the structure of a language that translated influence on the translation. This paper examines the translation of the Koran, which follows the pattern of the structure of the Arabic language in terms of word order (sequence pattern) element of Arabic and Indonesian. Based on the analysis of the function, the result of translation is not necessarily a literal translation has the same syntactic pattern with the source text. Indonesian function often different in sentence patterns with sentence patterns of Arabic, although it is the literal translation of the Arabic sentence. It happened because of the workings of the Arabic grammarians differ from Indonesian linguist in analyzing its function. DOI: 10.15408/a.v1i1.1128
