Abstract

In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, transformation in communication, work patterns, and access to information has reshaped how educational institutions present themselves to the public. Effective use of social media and websites can strengthen madrasas' competitive position amid the rapid flow of information and rising expectations for educational quality. This study explores the utilisation of digital platforms—specifically official websites and Instagram—as promotional tools in MAN 1 and MAN 2 Banjarmasin to enhance their institutional advantage. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with public relations and media administrators, complemented by content analysis of both schools’ online channels. The findings show that MAN 1 Banjarmasin is more proficient in managing its website, offering structured, informative, and consistently updated content that boosts institutional credibility. In contrast, MAN 2 Banjarmasin leverages Instagram more actively as an interactive space to engage students, parents, and the broader community through visual storytelling and social interaction. Despite these strengths, both schools encounter challenges related to limited human resources, technical skills, and insufficient institutional backing. This study underscores the need for integrated digital marketing strategies and recommends that madrasas build stronger cross-platform coordination to solidify their online identity, enhance public trust, and increase student enrollment through sustained engagement on digital media.

Abstract

In the competitive digital era, companies are required to build an image as an attractive workplace to capture the attention of young talent, especially generation Z who will enter the job market. This study aims to analyze the effect of employer branding on the interest in applying for jobs of final year students in North Kalimantan, and to examine the role of social media as a moderating variable in the relationship. The study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory design through a survey method of 350 students from two universities, with data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) techniques. Employer branding was measured based on five dimensions of organizational attractiveness, while job application interest and social media exposure were measured using a Likert scale. The results showed that employer branding has a positive and significant effect on job application interest (β = 0.506; p = 0.002), and social media also has a significant direct effect on job application interest (β = 0.573; p = 0.000). However, the moderating effect of social media on the relationship between employer branding and interest in applying was not statistically significant (β = -0.088; p = 0.969). The findings conclude that while social media is effective as a direct communication channel, its success in strengthening employer brand image depends on the quality of content and consistency of the organization's narrative. The implication of this study suggests that local companies should strengthen their employer branding strategy and utilize social media more purposefully and contextually to attract young talent in frontier regions.

Abstract

This community service program aims to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan, by enhancing their capacity in digital marketing strategies, financial literacy, and strengthening local economic resilience. The program was implemented using a participatory and practical approach through a series of activities including needs assessment, integrated training, workshops, and direct mentoring for MSMEs actors. The results indicate a significant improvement in participants' skills, particularly in utilizing social media and marketplaces for product promotion, maintaining basic financial records using digital applications, and conducting structured financial planning for their businesses. Furthermore, this initiative successfully fostered a shift in mindset—from traditional business management toward more strategic and data-driven decision-making. The success of this program demonstrates that well-targeted educational interventions can enhance the competitiveness of UMKM, especially in the face of digital transformation and economic uncertainty. However, sustainable impact requires ongoing assistance and multi-stakeholder collaboration. This program is expected to serve as a replicable model for similar initiatives in other regions.

Abstract

This research is motivated by changes in the post-pandemic work system that have encouraged the implementation of hybrid work in the education sector, requiring organizations to optimally manage intellectual capital while maintaining employee engagement to improve performance. This study aims to analyze the effect of intellectual capital on employee performance, with employee engagement as a mediating variable, in the education industry in North Kalimantan. The research method used a quantitative approach with a survey technique of lecturers and education staff at several universities in North Kalimantan. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that intellectual capital has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Employee engagement has also been shown to have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. In addition, employee engagement significantly mediates the relationship between intellectual capital and employee performance. These findings confirm that intellectual capital development will have a stronger impact on performance when supported by a high level of employee engagement. This study concludes that integrating intellectual capital management strategies and increasing employee engagement are key to improving performance in the hybrid work era in the education sector.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine the literature on the effects of reward and punishment on employee discipline in public organizations. It is motivated by the phenomenon of low employee discipline, which impacts declining performance and the effectiveness of public services. The study employs a systematic literature review conducted in November 2025, following the PRISMA guidelines, and searches Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, Semantic Scholar, and DOAJ for articles. The initial screening yielded 968 articles from Google Scholar, 7 from Portal Garuda, 12 from Semantic Scholar, and 10 from DOAJ. The articles were filtered using inclusion criteria, namely, peer-reviewed articles, full-text in Indonesian, research articles, and publications from 2020 to 2025, while non-peer-reviewed articles, non–full-text articles, non-Indonesian articles, non-research articles, publications outside the specified years, studies not addressing reward and punishment in relation to employee discipline, or those with low methodological quality were excluded. The results show five main effects. First, rewards have a positive, significant effect on employee discipline and performance. Second, punishment also has a positive and significant effect when applied fairly, as it can correct behavior and enhance employee compliance. Third, rewards are more effective than punishments in creating behavioral change. Fourth, work discipline acts as an intervening variable, strengthening the effects of rewards and punishments on performance. Fifth, the proportional and fair application of rewards and punishments can increase motivation, compliance, and employee performance in public organizations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of information and communication technology (ICT)-based monitoring on employee work discipline by considering the moderating role of digital literacy within the context of coastal areas. The study employs a systematic literature review approach using bibliometric analysis of 146 documents obtained from the Scopus database. The findings indicate that research on ICT and employee performance has shown a significant upward trend over the past decade and is predominantly concentrated in the fields of business and management. The thematic analysis reveals that ICT has the potential to improve work discipline through more transparent and real-time monitoring systems; however, its impact is not direct. The effectiveness of ICT is influenced by psychological factors, organizational conditions, and employees’ level of digital literacy. Additionally, ICT usage may also generate negative effects such as work stress and resistance to technology. This study highlights digital literacy as a moderating variable that strengthens the relationship between ICT-based monitoring and employee work discipline. Furthermore, the coastal context plays a crucial role in influencing ICT implementation due to limitations in infrastructure and technological access. This research contributes to the development of a conceptual model integrating ICT, digital literacy, and regional context in enhancing employee work discipline.

Abstract

Employee training is widely recognized as a key mechanism for enhancing individual capabilities and organizational performance. The literature commonly distinguishes between mandatory training, which emphasizes compliance and standardization, and voluntary training, which is driven by employee autonomy and self-directed learning. However, empirical findings remain fragmented, and limited research has systematically examined how these training approaches are jointly positioned within the broader literature. This study employs a systematic literature synthesis with a descriptive mapping approach to analyze patterns in how mandatory and voluntary training are associated with employee and organizational performance. A total of 305 peer-reviewed abstracts published between 2013 and 2023 were retrieved from Scopus-indexed journals and analyzed to identify recurring themes and reported associations across diverse organizational contexts. The findings show that both training types are frequently linked to performance-related outcomes, with mandatory training primarily associated with compliance and operational consistency, and voluntary training more commonly linked to motivation, engagement, innovation, and long-term professional development. Importantly, many studies emphasize the complementary role of mandatory and voluntary training, suggesting that training effectiveness is often discussed within an integrated rather than a mutually exclusive framework. This synthesis underscores the relevance of hybrid training systems that combine compliance-oriented and employee-driven learning to support adaptive and sustainable organizational development.
