Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the principal’s strategy in integrating the local wisdom values of Silat Pelintau into character education programs in elementary schools in Aceh Tamiang Regency. The focus of the study is directed at how principals plan, organize, implement, and evaluate the Silat Pelintau program as a medium for shaping students’ character, while also identifying obstacles and formulating recommendations for program development. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research informants included principals, classroom teachers, physical education teachers, Silat Pelintau trainers, studio leaders, and community figures who understand the practice of Pelintau culture. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis, and were then analyzed through data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and thematic coding assisted by NVivo. The findings indicate that the principal’s strategy was implemented through four main stages: program planning within school and extracurricular activities, organizing the roles of teachers and trainers, implementing Silat Pelintau training adapted to the characteristics of elementary school students, and evaluating character development through observation and discussions with teachers and trainers. The integration of Silat Pelintau was found to contribute to strengthening the values of discipline, responsibility, politeness, courage, perseverance, cooperation, emotional control, and love for the local culture of Aceh Tamiang. The obstacles identified include limited facilities, time allocation, fluctuating student motivation, the absence of official curriculum guidelines, and the suboptimal documentation of the program in learning documents. Strategic recommendations emphasize the need to strengthen school policies, establish a memorandum of understanding with local studios, provide teacher training, enhance multi-stakeholder collaboration, and develop sustainable programs. Theoretically, this study enriches the discourse on character education based on local wisdom; practically, its findings may serve as a reference for principals, teachers, studios, and local governments. The findings also highlight the importance of principal leadership in ensuring the sustainability of local culture-based character education programs. This study affirms that Silat Pelintau has the potential to serve as a contextual, applicable, and relevant model of character education for elementary school students. Keywords: Principal strategy; Character education; Local wisdom; Silat Pelintau ; Elementary school. Abstract

Corruption remains a persistent challenge that undermines integrity within educational environments, highlighting the need for character-based anti-corruption education from an early stage. This study aims to analyze the internalization of anti-corruption values through character education in shaping students' integrity at SMA Negeri 1 Takengon. The findings indicate that the internalization process extends beyond classroom instruction and develops through the interaction of learning activities, school culture, teacher role modelling, institutional governance, students' social experiences, and family support. The values of honesty, justice, responsibility, simplicity, and courage are strengthened through continuous habituation, collaborative learning, decision-making opportunities, and the consistent implementation of school norms. These interconnected experiences transform anti-corruption values from conceptual understanding into everyday practices reflected in students' attitudes and behaviors. The study further demonstrates that effective anti-corruption character education requires an educational ecosystem in which pedagogical practices, organizational culture, and stakeholder collaboration reinforce one another. This perspective contributes to the development of anti-corruption character education by emphasizing that integrity is cultivated through sustained educational experiences rather than through the transmission of moral knowledge alone.

Abstract

Inclusive education cannot be measured solely by the physical presence of students with special needs (PDBK) in regular classrooms; rather, it must be gauged by the depth of their social participation. These students often face barriers to interpersonal interaction and low levels of social participation. However, general classroom teachers are expected to foster social maturity, even though many schools lack specialized support teachers (GPK) or subject-matter experts. This study analyzes the strategies classroom teachers use to develop social maturity among students with special needs at SD Negeri 3 Percontohan Peusangan, using a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Nine informants participated: a school principal, two classroom teachers, three parents, and three students with special needs (presenting with ADHD, autism, and comorbid autism-ADHD). Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and subsequently analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. Classroom teachers implemented three primary strategies: accommodating diversity by rejecting internal segregation; leveraging resources through peer tutoring and tiered training for generalist teachers; and fostering professional collaboration via Cooperative Learning and peer support groups. These strategies enabled all students with special needs to achieve a "sufficient" level of social maturity (scores of 17–18) without the assistance of specialized support teachers or experts. The social maturity of students with special needs can be accelerated through the managerial creativity and job enrichment of generalist teachers within an "Organic Peer Support System" model, without absolute reliance on specialists. Strengthening written Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and formal partnerships with parents is recommended to ensure the continuity of social interventions at home.

Abstract

This study examines the strategic management strategies utilized by primary schools in flood-prone regions in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Indonesia. The study seeks to investigate how educational leaders devise, execute, and assess management measures to maintain learning continuity during persistent flooding events. A qualitative case study methodology was utilized to gather data via in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis at two public elementary schools located in the Bendahara and Banda Mulia Districts. Data were examined with NVivo 12 software to discern prevailing themes and managerial trends. The results indicate that school resilience is cultivated through three interconnected strategic elements: proactive planning, adaptive implementation, and reflective evaluation. Proactive planning emphasizes risk identification, the incorporation of flood mitigation strategies into educational policies, and preparedness training for educators and students. Adaptive implementation prioritizes flexible learning structures, community collaboration, and the use of local resources during floods. Reflective evaluation encompasses participatory dialogues, peer assessments, and continuous enhancement to bolster institutional preparedness. The study indicates that efficient disaster-responsive school management necessitates visionary leadership, collaborative planning, and robust community engagement. The findings enhance the theoretical discussion on resilient educational management by illustrating how context-specific techniques might support teaching and learning in disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

In a period of increased educational rivalry and accountability, schools need to employ management strategies that ensure continual quality improvement. Total Quality Management (TQM) has emerged as a strategic paradigm for improving educational services using systematic, data-driven, and participative methods. This study looks into the managerial skills of school principals in implementing TQM at public elementary schools in Meurah Mulia Subdistrict, Aceh Utara, Indonesia. Data were acquired using a qualitative study design, including in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis with administrators, teachers, and parents. The findings show that principals' managerial competence—conceptual, human relations, and technical skills—plays an important role in implementing TQM concepts in daily school activities. Among these categories, technological abilities, particularly those related to educational technology and data systems, stand out the most. However, the analysis also highlights problems in collaborative culture and shared responsibility for quality improvement. This study contributes to the developing discussion on educational leadership by emphasizing that effective TQM implementation in schools is dependent additionally on policy adoption, but also on the principal's capacity to integrate managerial expertise into a sustainable culture of quality. The report proposes that school leaders receive systematic professional development to improve their interpersonal communications skills and encourage deeper stakeholder participation.
