Abstract

This article seeks to elaborate the ma’had al-jami’ah-based religious moderation policy at UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah Tulungagung. This issue is interesting because religious moderation is a government policy that must be implemented by government institutions, including Islamic religious universities. The problem is that there are no nationally formal technical-operational guidelines for implementation so each tertiary institution has an interpretation for making policies to strengthen religious moderation by their respective contexts and considerations. The current study used in this article is qualitative with data mining techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The data that has been obtained is then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldańa model which divides the stages of data analysis into data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion. This article argues that UIN Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah made interesting policies for religious moderation in the form of madrasah diniyah and ma’had al-jami’ah learning policies. Madrasah diniyah and ma’had al-jami’ah are designed not only as an activity to provide religious knowledge to students but also as a strategy for internalizing religious moderation and prevention of radicalism ideology.

Abstract

Transformative pedagogy is the latest trend in educational studies. This is inseparable from several concepts, one of which is the study of human nature. So far, pedagogic understanding emphasizes the ability to manage student learning rather than understanding human nature. On the other hand, studies on Prophet Ibrahim’s (as) search for God in the Quran is an important subject to investigate from the perspective of transformative pedagogy since it is related to human nature. This study is included in the literature research. The method used was tafsir maudlu’iy namely by gathering verses of the Quran that have the same theme and analyzing them with the rules of interpretation. The results of this study show that Prophet Ibrahim (as) is not passive, but has energy or magmatic. This energy shows Prophet Ibrahim (as) as autonomous “I” that is in the process of becoming. This process is a search for God. This process subsequently develops from ‘ilm al-yaqin to ‘ayn al-yaqin. This study has a contribution in developing the theory proposed by H.A.R Tilaar into Transcendental Transformative Pedagogy. Abstract

The reality of Indonesian society is a multicultural society. Therefore, religious understanding and toleration to differences and diversity is necessary to be developed in order to create peace and harmony in the social life. This paper aims to explore the concept of Islamic Jurisprudence in the context of social diversity. This concept is important because the old fiqh concept resting on normative-theological reasonings needs to be reconstructed and replaced with contextual-progressive ones. The changes in the fiqh epistemology from normative-theological to contextual-progressive reasonings are carried out through adaptation to principles of Maqâshid al-Sharîah (basic aims of religious provisions) which are contextualized according to the social growth. The new model of fiqh constructed through combination of religious teachings and social development is expected to make a valuable contribution to the establishment of peace and harmony among all elements of Indonesia society.
