Abstract

Employability has become an increasingly relevant construct in modern turbulent world economic markets especially in this industrial revolution 4.0 era. Perceived employability involves self-perceived ability to achieve sustainable employment appropriate to one’s level of qualifications. Individual and family-related variables have been identified as predictors of employability in undergraduate students. However, the roles of career action behaviors of planning the future career and exploration of the world of work in these relationships are rarely known. This study aimed to examine the paths from proactive personality and family influence to employability via career planning and exploration. We collected data from 321 undergraduate students from a university in Semarang, Indonesia, M age = 19.89 years, SD age = 5.39, 67.3% female. We used scales of proactive personality, family influence, career planning, career exploration, and employability to collect the data. Structural equation modeling showed that the paths from proactive personality and family influence to employability were all partially mediated by career planning and exploration. Our results underlined the roles of career planning and exploration as mechanisms by which proactive personality and family influence exerted their influences on employability in undergraduate students. The recommendations of the findings of this study are discussed.

Abstract

Background: Emotional fatigue is a growing concern among academics, with over 50% of lecturers in Indonesia experiencing emotional exhaustion. Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Berbadan Hukum (PTN-BH) face high autonomy along with heavy tridarma responsibilities and performance pressures, often without adequate financial or emotional support. Research focusing specifically on PTN-BH lecturers remains limited.Purpose: To examine work-related stressors—workload, interpersonal relationships, and change-related communication—that contribute to emotional exhaustion among PTN-BH lecturers, using the Job Demands Resources theory (55.9% female; Mage = 42.54; SDage = 10.6).Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 306 PTN-BH lecturers in Indonesia (55.9% female; Mage = 42.54; SDage = 10.6). Data were analyzed using moderated multiple regression in IBM SPSS version 25.Findings: Workload and change-related communication showed significant effects on emotional exhaustion. In contrast, interpersonal relationships and the moderating role of self-leadership were not statistically significant.Implication: Addressing excessive workload and improving communication during organizational changes are essential to reduce emotional exhaustion and promote well-being among PTN-BH lecturers.

Abstract

Career decision-making self-efficacy is the level of individual confidence in successfully making career decisions and is characterized by the ability to conduct self-assessments, gather information about one’s career, select goals, make plans, and solve problems. The purpose of this study is to describe career decision-making self-efficacy in students in a collectivistic culture, both in the form of internal and external factors that influence each other, so that it has an impact on a person’s career decision-making self-efficacy. This research method used the scoping review method. A systematic review was conducted with online databases, namely, Scopus, Springer, EBSCO, ProQuest, and Emerald Insight, using predetermined keywords. Then, the articles were filtered based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria so that 7 articles met the eligibility criteria for analysis and were published between 2013 and 2023. The findings of this study indicate that in a collectivistic culture, family influence and support affect the formation of internal factors in the form of emotional regulation both adaptively and maladaptively. Family influence and support also influence career adaptation, self-awareness, career search skills, campus life adaptation, academic satisfaction, work experience, personality, future perspectives, and self-competence, and these factors lead to high career decision-making self-efficacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between caregiving behavior and nutritional status of under five children. This research used the quantitative cross-sectional design. The number of samples were 70 mothers taken by a multistage random sampling. The data was gained through in-depth interview and observation. Nutritional status was obtained by anthropometric measurement based on the z-score weight-for-age index. Caregiving behaviors that consist of attention to the mothers and feeding practices were poor, while home health practices were adequate. Most of the nutritional status of children under five was good (57.1%). Correlation analysis showed that attention to the mothers (r=0.321; p<0.05), feeding practices (r=0.252; p<0.05) and home health practices (r=0.358; p<0.05) were related positively to nutritional status. The study showed that caregiving behavior that affects nutritional status was attention to the mothers, feeding practices and home health practices.
