Abstract

Team-assisted individualization (TAI) learning accommodates the primary school students’ learning activities through the cooperative and individual learning models. The study aims at investigating students’ TAI cooperative and conventional learning models among third-graders’ thematic subjects two public primary schools in Klaten district, Indonesia. A quasi-experimental research design was applied by involving 20 experiment and 18 control groups respectively. Data collection used the multiple-choice tests of thematics subjects to measure the third-graders’ TAI cooperative and conventional learning in arts, culture, and life skills and Indonesian subjects. Data analysis used a non-parametric statistic to prove the mean difference test in two or more groups, descriptive test, T-tests, Mann Whitney-U test, and N-gain test. The results showed an increase in the experiment group higher than in the control group. However, there was no significant difference between the experiment and control groups after examining the multiple-choice tests. The results supported the thematic subjects of the characteristics of living things in arts, culture, and life skills, and Indonesian teaching since proving the third-graders’ learning improvement naturally and objectively. This study concludes that TAI’s cooperative and conventional learning models accommodate the learning activities although its implication does not contribute significantly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of body mass index to the level of physical fitness of junior high school students in Medan City in 2023. This study used descriptive analytic method. The sample amounted to 23 people, obtained by purposive sample. To determine the correlation of body mass index to the level of physical fitness is sought using the product moment formula. This research uses body mass index test instruments and physical fitness tests carried out to find out data on research variables, namely body mass index data and student physical fitness tests. From the results of statistical analysis, the correlation coefficient between body mass index and physical fitness is rcount = 0.55. To find out how much the contribution of body mass index to the level of physical fitness is calculated with R = (0.55)2 x 100% = 30.25%. The contribution is 30.25%. Thus the hypothesis that states there is a contribution of body mass index to the level of physical fitness of junior high school students in Medan City in 2023 can be accepted in this study. This research opens insights into knowledge for teachers, especially physical education teachers so that this information can be applied in schools.

Abstract

Introduction: Goal setting is a critical psychological skill in athletic performance, enabling athletes to establish clear, challenging, and measurable targets. In addition to increasing motivation and self-confidence, goal setting also helps athletes manage stress and anxiety, making goal setting an important strategy in training athletes to achieve peak performance. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the relationship between psychological factors stress, anxiety, self-confidence, and motivation and goal-setting among KU III (Age Group III, 12-13 years old) swimmers in Semarang. Method: Using a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design, the research involved 26 athletes selected via purposive sampling. Quantitative data were collected using standardized scales (DASS-21, TSCI, SOQ, and a goal-setting scale) and analyzed with correlation techniques, while qualitative data from in-depth interviews were analyzed thematically. Result: The results revealed that self-confidence (r = 0.652, p = 0.000) and motivation (r = 0.742, p = 0.000) had a strong, significant positive relationship with goal-setting. In contrast, anxiety (r = -0.328) and stress (r = -0.119) showed weak, non-significant negative relationships. Simultaneously, the four psychological factors accounted for 75.1% (R² = 0.751) of the variance in goal-setting effectiveness. Qualitative findings identified key themes, including triggers of anxiety/stress, coping strategies, sources of self-confidence, and the dominance of intrinsic motivation. Conclusion: The study concludes that high self-confidence and strong intrinsic motivation are the primary drivers of effective goal-setting in young swimmers, while unmanaged anxiety and stress can be detrimental.

Abstract

Football is a highly popular sport in Indonesia, where supporters often develop strong emotional attachments that shape fanaticism as a social and cultural identity. This study aims to analyze the formation of fanaticism among B6 Surakartans supporters of Persis Solo. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, with six participants selected through purposive sampling, including members, administrators, and supporters. Data were collected through interviews and validated using source triangulation. The analysis involved data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that shared emotions, common interests, and collective experiences influence supporter fanaticism. The atmosphere in the stands strengthens emotional bonds and togetherness, while informal norms guide supporter behavior. Fanaticism also reinforces group identity and is shaped by rivalry with other supporters. It can be concluded that supporter fanaticism is formed through social interactions and shared values, which can promote solidarity but also carry the risk of conflict if not properly managed.

Abstract

Background: Psychological responses to sport injury critically determine rehabilitation engagement and return-to-sport outcomes. Existing research has predominantly employed variable-centered approaches that obscure heterogeneity in athletes' psychological adaptation, particularly within culturally embedded combat sports such as Pencak Silat. Aims: This study aimed to identify distinct psychological profiles among injured Pencak Silat athletes empirically and to examine how these profiles relate to rehabilitation readiness, thereby advancing an evidence-based framework for psychological skills training in injury rehabilitation contexts. Methods: A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design combined with a person-centered analytical framework was employed. Data were collected from 108 injured Pencak Silat athletes across nine secondary educational institutions. Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) was conducted on five psychological domains: anxiety regulation, coping skills, self-confidence, motivation, and rehabilitation readiness, followed by MANOVA and hierarchical regression to examine profile-based differences and predictive relationships. Results: Three distinct profiles, Vulnerable (n = 29), Adaptive (n = 46), and Resilient (n = 33), were identified. All psychological indicators differed significantly across profiles, with large effect sizes. Hierarchical regression demonstrated that psychological skills and profile membership accounted for significant variance in rehabilitation readiness beyond injury-related factors (ΔR² = .19). Conclusion: Psychological adaptation to sport injury is best conceptualized through profile-based configurations of psychological skills. These findings support the development of individualized, profile-informed psychological skills training to enhance rehabilitation readiness and sustainable return-to-sport outcomes in Pencak Silat athletes.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a significant health problem among the elderly population, with an estimated prevalence ranging from 60% to 80%. Proper treatment of hypertension in the elderly is essential, as it can lead to decreased quality of life, difficulties in social and physical functioning, and an increased risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Objective: This study explores the potential use of autosuggestive techniques as a new intervention in managing hypertension in the elderly to improve health outcomes and quality of life. Method: The method used is bibliometric analysis to map and synthesize related literature in the Scopus reputable database. Key Results: The main results of the analysis show that managing hypertension in the elderly requires a comprehensive approach, including knowledge, attitudes, and practice (KAP) intervention models, family support, and the development of self-empowerment models. Autosuggestive techniques have the potential to be integrated into this approach as a novel intervention that can improve blood pressure control and quality of life in older people with hypertension. Conclusion: This study concludes that autosuggestive techniques can be a promising intervention to improve health outcomes and quality of life in the elderly with hypertension. Integrating these techniques into a comprehensive hypertension management approach can provide significant benefits to the elderly population.
