Abstract

Sexual orientations, such as gay, lesbian, and bisexual, are prevalent among individuals at high risk of experiencing mental health problems, including drug use, depression, emotional distress, and suicide. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the compliance of men who have sex with men with protective equipment and determine the dominant influential factors. This cross-sectional study included 187 men who had sexual intercourse with men who were recruited from two foundations based in Palembang City, Indonesia, focusing on people living with HIV/AIDS. Data were analyzed using Chi-square and binomial logistic regression. In this context, 50.8% of men who have sexual intercourse with men did not comply with the use of sexual protective equipment, exceeding those in compliance. The multivariate logistic regression showed that knowledge was the dominant factor (PR = 15.733; 95% CI = 4.063-60.920), and most low-knowledge individuals were 15.733 times more at risk of non-compliance. Intensive education is needed regarding the potential risk of transmission, considering the ease of access to condoms.

Abstract

Mental health is a state of physical and mental health in which a person is able to live daily life with a sense of security and peace. Children with HIV/AIDS positive have a double burden compared to children with HIV/AIDS negative where it greatly affects the mental state of a child. This study aims to factors associated with mental health in ADHA and Non ADHA in South Sumatera. The study design used a cross sectional with a sampling technique using cluster sampling. Locations in this study include areas in South Sumatera like Palembang City, Prabumulih City, and OKI. Data collection was carried out from April – May 2022 by interviewing through the Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ) mental health questionnaire. The research sample was 61 people with criteria for children aged 5-18 years. Statistical analysis used the Chi Square test with a significance level of = 0.05. The results showed that parental income (p=0.599) and nutritional status (p=0.186) were not related to mental health, while history of chronic disease (p=0.037), parental completeness status (p=0.037), and HIV/AIDS status (p=0.008) associated with mental health. Increased monitoring of mental health needs to be optimized in order to reduce the incidence of mental health disorders in children.

Abstract

Chronic work fatigue (burnout) is a condition of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion resulting from prolonged work demands, particularly in the public service sector. Employees of BPJS Kesehatan are at risk of experiencing burnout due to the intensity of interactions with participants, administrative pressures, and service performance demands. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between individual characteristics, emotional intelligence, physical activity, workload, dietary patterns, and nutritional status with the occurrence of chronic work fatigue (burnout) among employees of BPJS Kesehatan Batam Branch. This study used a cross-sectional design with a total of 100 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses with multinomial logistic regression. The results showed that the majority of respondents experienced chronic work fatigue (burnout) at a moderate level, followed by a high level, while only a small proportion experienced a low level. Bivariate analysis showed significant relationships between age, marital status, educational level, length of employment, and workload with burnout (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, emotional intelligence, physical activity, dietary patterns, meal frequency, nutritional status, work unit, and job position did not show statistically significant relationships. In multivariate analysis, only gender was proven to be significantly associated with high-level burnout compared to low-level burnout after controlling for other variables (p < 0.05). This study concludes that chronic work fatigue among employees of BPJS Kesehatan Batam Branch is influenced by certain factors, with gender as the dominant factor. It is recommended that BPJS Kesehatan strengthen burnout prevention strategies through workload management, organizational support, and sustainable workplace health promotion programs.

Abstract

The prevalence of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Indonesia continues to increase, particularly among men who have sex with men (MSM). Condom use remains a key strategy to prevent HIV transmission in this population. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with consistent condom use among HIV-positive MSM in Surakarta, Indonesia. A cross-sectional design was applied using purposive sampling, involving 34 HIV-positive MSM recruited from the community. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire assessing condom knowledge, attitudes, and use, and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses. The mean age was 33 years, with most participants being single (82.3%) and having completed high school to university (94.1%). While 97.1% acknowledged the importance of condoms, 67.6% had misconceptions about correct use, 29.4% perceived condoms as reducing sexual pleasure, and 35.3% reported inconvenience in purchasing or carrying condoms. Only 44.1% reported consistent condom use, and 50.0% had engaged in unprotected sex in the past six months. Bivariate analysis showed no significant association between age, education, marital status, and employment and consistent condom use. These findings highlight the important role of cognitive and attitudinal factors in shaping condom use behavior among HIV-positive MSM, suggesting that targeted behavior change interventions that address misconceptions and sociocultural barriers are crucial for strengthening HIV prevention efforts in Indonesia.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the knowledge, attitudes, and compliance with antiretroviral (ARV) antidotes among HIV patients at the Central Bangka Regional General Hospital. Research Methodology: This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The technique for selecting respondents was a non-probability sampling technique, purposive sampling. Nine informants participated in 9 people. Data were collected using an in-depth interview guide. Results: Findings from the research show that several informants had insufficient knowledge about compliance in taking ARV antidotes. Even though the informants' attitude towards compliance with antiretroviral (ARV) antiretrovirals was relatively good, several key informants stated that they had stopped taking antiretroviral (ARV) antidotes for several months because they felt healthy. However, several months later, they experienced adverse effects that resulted in declining health. Conclusions: The study concludes that Inadequate knowledge and misconceptions about ARV therapy remain significant obstacles to sustained adherence. Strengthening education, family involvement, and consistent supervision are essential for enhancing compliance and improving health outcomes for people living with HIV. Limitations: The study was limited to a small number of participants from a single hospital, which restricts broader generalization. Contribution: This research provides practical insights for healthcare providers and policymakers to design targeted interventions, improve supervision, and foster cross-program collaboration to ensure consistent ARV adherence among patients with HIV, ultimately supporting public health goals in HIV management.

Abstract

The oil and gas industry is a sector with a very high risk of occupational accidents due to its operational characteristics, which involve hazardous environments and unsafe worker behavior. Although Basic HSSE Training has become a mandatory standard in the oil and gas industry, evaluating its effectiveness remains urgent to ensure that the training is not merely a formality for regulatory compliance, but is truly aligned with the specific operational risks, work environment, and safety culture of Company. This study uniquely combines a pretest–posttest evaluation of Basic HSSE Training with an analysis of key organizational factors using multivariate statistical methods to identify dominant drivers of knowledge improvement among upstream oil and gas workers. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Basic HSSE Training by measuring differences in workers' knowledge levels before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the training, as well as examining the influence of organizational factors management commitment, safety policies, regulations and procedures, HSSE communication, work environment, and worker involvement on knowledge improvement. A quantitative approach with a pretest–posttest design was employed, involving 303 workers at Company X in the upstream oil and gas sector in South Sumatra Province. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and multiple-choice tests. The Paired Samples t-test results indicate that Basic HSSE Training is effective in improving workers' knowledge, while Chi-Square and logistic regression analyzes show that organizational factors, particularly communication and work environment, play a dominant role in influencing the effectiveness of the training.
