Abstract

Evaluation of interest-based education programs is an essential component of assessing a program's effectiveness in higher education. However, valid, contextual, and relevant instruments for curriculum development objectives, such as those in chemistry education, remain limited. The purpose of this study was to determine how to (1) design and develop program evaluation instruments based on the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) model, (2) program effectiveness by looking at evaluation results in each aspect of the model, and (3) relevance between evaluation results and the Model structure. The study used an evaluative approach with the CIPP evaluation model as the main framework. The instrument was developed independently and validated by experts with a logical-theoretical-empirical approach, with samples of chemistry education students in the chemistry learning media lecture program. Data were collected using a questionnaire, analysed using a statistical approach, and the evaluation results were reported. The evaluation results show that (1) the designed and developed evaluation instrument meets the valid criteria (0.91 or high validity), (2) this program has high effectiveness with an average score of Context (3.75), Input (3.5), Process (3.0), and Product (3.5), and (3) the evaluation results show relevance to the model structure and can be used effectively. These results confirm that the CIPP model can not only measure program effectiveness, but also identify areas that still need improvement for continuous improvement. CIPP model-based evaluation can be an effective tool for assessing the effectiveness of interest-based lecture programs in higher education.

Abstract

Ethnoscience is one of the compulsory courses in the Science Education program. The implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) should be integrated into the ethnoscience course to enhance the awareness of prospective science teachers regarding the environment and sustainability. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the ethnoscience course program at a Teacher Training Institution (LPTK) in Riau Province. A case study methodology was employed, involving the analysis of ethnoscience course documents, observation and interviews with lecturers. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods based on the Miles-Huberman framework. The course implementation plan has met the established standards, and the majority of the learning outcomes align with the qualifications set by the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI). The ethnoscience course uses a research approach that examines the reconstruction of indigenous knowledge into scientific knowledge, though it has yet to emphasize sustainability literacy. Lecturers face challenges in accommodating the depth of content derived from student projects. Stakeholders should consider policies for collaborative teaching, like citizen science project in ethnoscience to support the optimization of achieving the course’s expected competencies.

Abstract

Local wisdom holds significant potential as a contextual biology learning resource, yet its integration into the Independent Curriculum remains underexplored, particularly in coastal communities. This study aims to examine the integration of the local wisdom of the Duano Tribe's mussel tradition into biology learning in the Independent Curriculum. This tradition contains ecological knowledge, organismal adaptation, biomechanics of motion, as well as conservation values relevant to biological concepts. The research uses the Narrative Literature Review (NLR) design by examining articles published in 2018–2025 that discuss local wisdom, ethnopedagogy, coastal biology, and curriculum implementation. The analysis is carried out through thematic coding to identify concept patterns and potential integration in learning. The results of the study show that the tradition of mussels can be used to strengthen the understanding of coastal ecosystems, the morphological and physiological adaptation of blood mussels, as well as the issue of environmental change. The integration of local potential is also relevant for the development of inquiry-based learning activities and project-based learning, as well as supporting the achievement of the Pancasila Student Profile. Overall, this study confirms that the manongkah kerang tradition has strong educational value and can be implemented as a contextual learning resource to improve students' ecological competence, cultural identity, and environmental awareness.

Abstract

The need for labor in the future has more complex criteria than what is needed today. The increasing complexity of these criteria is due to technological advances which are increasingly shifting the position of humans at work. Technology has advantages and stability and can predict the results obtained. So it is essential for everyone to prepare for the increasingly fierce competition in the world of work. One of the efforts made is to familiarize students with technology at school. However, this needs to be supported by the availability of facilities and infrastructure as well as the ability of students to adapt. So this study aims to capture the digital accessibility of students in terms of the factors and obstacles they face in using technology. These data were obtained by applying the survey method to 41 students at SMA Bandung City. In this study, the data were analyzed quantitatively and represented in the form of diagrams. The results of data analysis show that students have adequate digital accessibility. This is indicated by their readiness and independence in learning technology as an additional learning resource. However, the biggest obstacle students face is the lack of stability in the internet network. So that it interferes with the learning process.
