Abstract

Contrast to force and motion concepts, students’ difficulties related to physics concepts underlying mechanical wave propagation has getting less attention in physics education research. This study exposed common students’ difficulties in solving conceptual problems related to mechanical wave propagation. Subject consisted of 128 first-year students in physics department of UM, enrolling the Introductory Physics II in 2013/2014 academic year. Data was gathered using two-tier, multiple choices test with Confidence Scale Rating. The study concluded that some fundamental concepts of wave such as general mathematical representation of wave propagation, motion of medium particles, and the relationship of v = λf, were not well understood by most students; even many students hold misconceptions. The study suggested further research to explore the causes of student’s difficulties more outentically, for example, using think aloud or clinical interview methods.Kontras dengan topik gaya dan gerak, kesulitan siswa terkait konsep-konsep yang melandasi fenomena perambatan gelombang masih kurang mendapatkan perhatian para peneliti pendidikan fisika. Artikel ini mengangkat kesulitan umum yang dialami mahasiswa dalam memecahkan masalah konseptual terkait fenomena perambatan gelombang. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 128 mahasiswa tahun pertama jurusan fisika UM yang mengikuti perkuliahan Fisika Dasar II tahun akademik 2013/2014. Analisis didasarkan pada jawaban mahasiswa terhadap soal pilihan ganda dan tingkat keyakinan mahasiswa terhadap ketepatan jawabannya. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa konsep-konsep fundamental yang meliputi representasi matematis tentang karakteristik umum gelombang berjalan, gerakan partikel medium saat dilewati gelombang, dan hubungan  belum dipahami dengan baik oleh sebagian besar mahasiswa; bahkan banyak mahasiswa yang terindikasi mengalami miskonsepsi. Disarankan untuk dilakukan penelitian lanjutan untuk mengeksplorasi lebih dalam dan lebih otentik penyebab kesulitan tersebut, misalnya menggunakan teknik think aloud atau interview klinis.

Abstract

A web-based recitation program has been developed to improve students’ conceptual understanding of some fundamental concepts of fluid mechanics. The program consists of multiple-choices conceptual questions followed by immediate feedback for each option. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the program and whether the program can be used by students without any assistance of instructor. If it is the case, the program could be used by instructor to serve recitation program outside the classroom. To address the objectives, this study employed a non-randomized control group pretest-posttest design involving three groups of students. The first group (E-1) used the program accompanied by teaching assistant, the second group (E-2) used the program by his/herself without assistance, and the third group (C) learned by his/herself without the program. The study involved 73 students enrolling the introductory physics course in physics education department, State University of Malang, as the subject. The effectiveness of the program was analyzed by comparing N-gain scores of the three groups and the responses of the E-1 and E-2 students to the program. Pretest was administered after the three groups of students have learned fluid mechanics through regular lecture sessions, and the posttest was administered after the E-1 and E-2 groups have finished learning with the help of the program. The results showed that the N-gain of group E-1, E-2, and C was 0.51 (upper medium), 0.58 (upper medium), and 0.12 (low), respectively. The ANOVA test showed that the three N-gain values were statistically different (p = 0,000). The LSD post hoc test showed that the N-gain of group C was significantly different from that of group E-1 and E-2 (p=0.000), whereas the N-gain between group E-1 and E-2 was not significantly different (p=0.244). It can be concluded that the web-based recitation program was effective to improve the students’ conceptual understanding of fluid mechanics and can be used equally well with or without direct assistance from instructor or teaching assistant. The students that used the program also gave quite positive responses to the program, that the program could help them to reflect on the appropriateness of their understanding, was easy to use, and had attractive features.

Abstract

Penguasaan konsep merupakan kemampuan dasar bagi siswa untuk memahami suatu pengetahuan secara baik dan benar. Namun, fakta lapangan menunjukan bahwa penguasaan siswa masih rendah salah satunya pada materi Momentum dan Impuls. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penguasaan konsep Siswa yang belajar materi momentum dan Impuls berbasis scientific approach disertai formative assessment berbantuan web. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode mixed method dengan desain embedded experimental. Data dari penelitian ini terbagi menjadi dua yaitu data kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari skor pretest dan postest sedangkan data kualitatif diperoleh dari observasi, catatan lapangan, dan dokumentasi selama  pembelajaran serta wawancara. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X MIPA 3 MAN 1 Malang yang terdiri dari 38 siswa. Instrumen pengukuran penguasaan konsep diadaptasi dari energy and momentum conceptual survey (EMCS). Data dianalisis dengan paired sample t-test, rata-rata N-gain, dan d-effect size. Data kualitatif dianalisis dengan cara reduksi data, coding, deskripsi dan interprestasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan konsep siswa yang belajar materi momentum dan impuls Berbasis Scientific Approach disertai formative assessment Berbatuan Web Meningkat. Hasil t-test didapatkan nilai yang signifikan (p = 0,00 < 0,05) antara skor pretest dan postest. Nilai N-gain yang diperoleh sebesar 0,33 yang termasuk kategori medium bawah. Sedangkan, Kekuatan dampak atau keefektivan pembelajaran terhadap penguasaan konsep siswa dilakukan perhitungan d-effect size. Nilai d-effect size sebesar 1,31 yang termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Hasil wawancara juga diperoleh bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep Momentum dan Impuls berdasarkan hukum Newton II dan III. Kata kunci: Penguasaan Konsep, Scientific Approach, Formative Assesment

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to determine the blood protein diversity first generation of Kedu chickens (G0)at Satuan Kerja Non Ruminansia Maron, Temanggung. The materials used in this study were each of 14 red andblack comb Kedu chickens. The methods of this study were observational and electrophoresis PAGE(Polyacrylamid Gel Electrophoresis). The observed parameters were loci of pre albumin (Palb), albumin (Alb),ceruloplasmin (Cp), transferrin (Tf), post transferrin (Ptf) and amylase-I (Amy-I). Gene structures were observedto characterize genetic diversity. Characterization of genetic diversity based on individual heterozygosity, meanheterozygosity and chi-square values for testing Hardy Weinberg equilibrium for each observed loci. The resultsshowed that red comb Kedu chickens had the highest gene frequencies of pre albumin, ceruloplasmin, transferrin,post transferrin and amylase-I those were 0,714; 0,714; 0,643; 0,643 and 0,536 respectively. The highestindividual heterozygosity of red comb Kedu chickens found in amylase-I (0,497) and also post transferrin (0,500),and amylase-I (0,500) for black comb Kedu chickens. The highest mean heterozygosity was found in black combKedu chickens (0,458). The chi-square calculation showed that the whole loci were at Hardy Weinbergequilibrium except pre albumin at red comb Kedu chickens.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan keunggulan sapi Ongole Grade (PO) di Satker-Sumberrejo, Kendal menggunakan dua metode yang berbeda, yaitu MPPA dan EBV. Bahan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah 48 ekor sapi.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi menggunakan rekaman untuk mendapatkan catatan silsilah sapi, kemudian digunakan dalam perhitungan.Korelasi Spearman digunakan untuk membandingkan dua metode seleksi yaitu MPPA dan EBV. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan rata-rata berat lahir adalah 29,35 ± 2,13 kg sedangkan berat sapih 112,58 ± 24,17 kg. Berat badan standar untuk berat lahir adalah 30,91 ± 1,97 kg, sedangkan untuk berat menyapih adalah 110,10 ± 11,20 kg. Uji korelasi Spearman menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara MPPA dan EBV.Dapat disimpulkan bahwa MPPA dan EBV dapat digunakan dalam pemilihan sapi.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop test questions of problem solving ability on work-energy material for high school students class X. This type of research is research and development. The model used in this study is ADDIE with the stages of analyzing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating, but this study only up to the implementation stage. The test developed in this research consists of three items of problem solving ability description that is multi context. Validation of item was done by content validation and empirical validation. The results of content validation indicate that the average score of test items is 3,125 with good category. The results of empirical validation indicate that there are two valid questions and one invalid question. Two valid questions have a Cronbach Alpha coefficient of 0.807. The results of the implementation of the test showed that the average student problem solving abilities in Question 1 is 17.41 of a maximum score of 25, the lowest score is 10 and the highest is 23. The results of students in the question number 2 by 16.60 of a maximum score of 25, with the lowest score is 10 and the highest is 22. These results indicate that the test instrument is feasible to use to assess students' problem solving abilities.

Abstract

Pengelolaan hara merupakan salah satu faktor penentu hasil dan kualitas buah yang tinggi. Selama ini, rekomendasi pupuk untuk tanaman stroberi menggunakan NPK 16-16-16. Pemupukan NPK 16-16-16 masih kurang mencukupi, sehingga petani masih menambahkan pupuk KNO3. Oleh karena itu, perlu dilakukan pengujian terhadap pupuk NPK dengan komposisi berbeda yaitu dengan porsi K lebih tinggi (NPK 12-6-24). Pengujian efektivitas pupuk NPK dan cara aplikasi dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola pertumbuhan tanaman strawberry. Penelitian menggunakan RAL (Rancangan Acak Lengkap) Faktorial dengan 3 kali ulangan. Faktor pertama yaitu Dosis pupuk NPK 12-6-24 dengan taraf 0; 1 g (g/L); 2 g (g/L); 3 g (g/L); 4 g (g/L); dan pupuk NPK rekomendasi 16-16-16, 2 g (2 g/L). Faktor kedua yaitu cara aplikasi dengan taraf A1 (ditabur) dan A2 (dikocor). Data tinggi dan jumlah daun yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Variance aplikasi SPSS dan dilanjutkan dengan DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) taraf α 5%. Hasil pengujian pupuk NPK 12-6-24 terhadap pertumbuhan strawberry yang dibandingkan dengan  NPK 16-16-16 sebagai pupuk rekomendasi memperlihatkan bahwa interaksi antara perlakuan dosis dan cara aplikasi tidak berpengaruh nyata, namun perlakuan tunggal dosis berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter tinggi dan jumlah daun tanaman strawberry. NPK 12-6-24 dosis 4 g aplikasi granul (ditabur) efisien terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman strawberry secara keseluruhan apabila mempertimbangkan tenaga kerja, sedangkan NPK 12-6-24 dosis 2 g aplikasi kocor efisien apabila mempertimbangkan jumlah pupuk yang digunakan dan Perlakuan NPK 12-6-24 lebih efisien dibandingkan pupuk NPK 16-16-16 rekomendasi pada semua parameter Kata Kunci: Strawberry, Pupuk NPK, Dosis, Aplikasi

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of modeling instruction based on a system for improving student’s understanding of energy concepts on high school students. This Research was a mixed-method design with an embedded experimental model. The subject of this study was the 62 students of 11th grade, at Senior High School in Nganjuk, Indonesia. Modeling instruction based on system learning could significantly improve students' understanding of concepts better than conventional learning. Based on the calculation of the effectiveness of learning using N-gain obtained for 0.33 (medium or low medium category) for the treatment class and 0.18 (low category) for the control class. It concluded that improved students' conceptual understanding of the treatment class was better than the control class. This research also was identified student’s difficulties especially in differentiating forces and work. Students propensity to use p-prime in solving problems rather than using energy theorems.

Abstract

Students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) can be honed by gradually developing new concepts from their multiple representation abilities through HOTS-based multiple representation learning models. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of HOTS -based multiple representation learning models on circular motion material. The method used is in the form of quantitative research — the study design used pre-experimental design. The sampling technique is purposive sampling of physics education students. It was found that HOTS-based multiple representation learning models on circular motion material effectiveness were achieved as expected in this study, the effectiveness of 1.06. The statistical hypothesis test used in the form of U Mann Whitney with the results of Asymp. Sig. 0.04 < 0.05, the hypothesis is accepted, meaning that there is the influence of the application of HOTS based multiple representation learning model on student learning outcomes in circular motion material. Improved learning outcomes were shown from the results of the average pretest score of 50.0 and the post-test of 85.9 with N-Gain of 0.7 in the high category. The positive response of students to the application of this learning model shows a percentage value of 96.7% with very strong.

Abstract

Tujuan pembelajaran Fisika pada tingkat SMA diarahkan untuk menguasai konsep dan melatihkan kerja ilmiah atau scientific approach siswa  yang dapat diaplikasikan dalam kehidupan nyata. Penelitian  ini  bertujuan untuk menganalisis  perubahan  konseptual  siswa  setelah  melalui  pembelajaran authentic  problem melalui integrative learning. Penelitian  ini  menggunakan jenis  penelitian mixed method. Desain penelitian  yang  digunakan  pada penelitian  ini  adalah embedded  experimental design.  Data  kualitatif  yang  berupa  pelaksanaan  pembelajaran diambil melalui observasi langsung dan disajikan secara deskriptif. Data kuantitatif yang berupa nilai perubahan konseptual siswa diambil melalui tes penguasaan konsep dan dianalisis melalui uji paired t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan  bahwa : 1) Terdapat perubahan konseptual pada siswa setelah dilakukan pembelajaran Authentic problem melalui Integrative  Learning.  2)  Pembelajaran authentic  problem melalui integrative  learning yang diterapkan  pada  penelitian  ini  memiliki  ciri  :  “  siswa  memecahkan  masalah  otentik  melalui  diskusi  dan praktikum; evaluasi yang dilakukan meliputi evaluasi diri sendiri, evaluasi teman dan evaluasi guru“.  Kata Kunci: Perubahan Konseptual, Integrative Learning, Authentic Problem
