Abstract

Identification of diseases from images of plants is one of the interesting research areas in the agriculture field, for which machine learning concepts from the computer science field can be applied. This article presents a prototype system for the detection and classification of rice diseases based on images of infected rice plants. This prototype system was developed after detailed experimental analysis of various techniques used in image processing operations. We consider three rice plant diseases: Bacterial Leaf Blight, Blast, and Tungro. We used the Otsu method to remove the background. To enable accurate extraction of features, we combined Gabor and Sobel techniques. In the classification process, we used five machine learning techniques: Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Nave Bayes (NB), and Quadratic Discriminant Analysis (QDA). We empirically evaluated these methods, achieving 77%, 50%, 60%, and 37% accuracy, respectively.

Abstract

A face recognition system consists of two stages: face detection and face recognition. Detection of features such as eyes and mouth is important in facial image processing, especially for official documents such as identity cards. To ensure identification accuracy, this research applies facial landmark extraction technology and MTCNN (Multi-Task Cascaded Convolutional Neural Network). The purpose of this research is to evaluate the accuracy of MTCNN in detecting facial features at the Department of Population and Civil Registration (dukcapil) Palu City, using facial landmarks and waterfall methods as an application development methodology. The evaluation results show that MTCNN has high face recognition accuracy and good positioning ability regardless of what GPU in use as long have right CPU and System Operation. In comparison, the Viola-Jones algorithm is effective for high-speed applications, while SSD offers balanced performance with GPU device requirements for optimal performance. While MTCNN proved to be effective, challenges still exist, such as false positives and false negatives, especially in poor lighting conditions and extreme poses. Image and camera quality, including resolution and facial expression, also affects detection accuracy. These findings suggest that the application of MTCNN can improve face recognition accuracy for official documents, although it requires addressing existing challenges. With this technology, it is expected that errors in facial recognition can be minimized, resulting in more reliable data that meets the standards for issuing identity documents. This research contributes to the development of a more accurate and efficient face recognition system for personal identification applications.

Abstract

The film "Dirty Vote" provides a realistic depiction of alleged fraud issues within Indonesia's democratic system, released ahead of the 2024 elections. This has sparked various public opinions, both in favor of and against the film, potentially affecting the stability of Indonesia’s democratic system. The aim of this research is to analyze the public's reaction to the "Dirty Vote" documentary, which could serve as a consideration for assessing public awareness in rationally responding to a film and improving the quality of democracy in Indonesia. This research will test the accuracy of data used in classification using the Naive Bayes Classifier based on collected Twitter data. The evaluation results of the Naive Bayes model for sentiment classification showed an accuracy of 86%, with a precision of 84% and a recall of 91%. When compared to the implementation of hyperparameter tuning using grid search with a stratified k-fold combination and parameter configurations for alpha: [0,1], binarize: [0.0], and fit prior: [true, false], better results were obtained with an accuracy of 90%, a precision of 87%, and a recall of 94%. This demonstrates that using parameter optimization methods from grid search can help improve the accuracy of a classification model. It is hoped that this research will contribute significantly to the development of Indonesia’s democratic system, particularly in raising public awareness to think more rationally and critically when evaluating and analyzing a film.
