Abstract

According to WHO, LBW is the condition of a baby with a birth weight of less than 2500 grams. LBW can occur due to maternal age, education, lack of nutritional intake, gap of pregnancy, parity, socioeconomic factors, fetal factors, and the placenta. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of LBW babies, maternal risk factors, and the average LBW in Tabanan Regional Hospital, Bali Province. A descriptive observational design with a cross-sectional approach on Tabanan Hospital medical record data 2020-2022 was used in this study. The sample was determined using consecutive sampling and 116 samples were acquired. The results showed that 87.9% of LBW babies were in the low category and 62.1% were male, most babies were born to mothers who were not at risk, 78.4% were from mothers aged 20-35 years, 65.5% were from mothers with multiparous parity, 78.4% were born at term pregnancy age, 77.6% were born with pregnancy gaps > 2 years, and 89.7% came from families without a history of LBW. Some babies were born to mothers with pregnancy complications, such as preeclampsia (15.5%), gestational hypertension (31.9%), anemia (28.4%), and premature rupture of membranes (24.1%). Some mothers had disease’s history. such as diabetes (9.5%), asthma (7.8%), hypertension (18.1%), HIV (2.6%), and syphilis (0.9%).

Abstract

Overproduction of numerous pro-inflammatory cytokines, during dengue virus (DENV) infection, has been related to plasma leakage in the vascular endothelium and studied elsewhere with conflicting results. The current study objective is to evaluate the expression of four cytokine/chemokine genes following DENV-2 infection within peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) isolated from a healthy donor. Venous blood was drawn,  and PBMCs were isolated using Ficoll density gradient centrifugation. Cells were maintained in culture medium and infected with Indonesian isolate of DENV-2. Cells were harvested and followed by total RNA extraction and reverse-transcription into cDNA using oligo d(T) primers and Reverse Transcriptase enzyme system. The SYBR Green-based quantitative qRT-PCR was used to calculate the relative expression of IL-6, IL-8, IP-10 and MIP-1β- encoding genes during infection time points, compared to uninfected cell controls. The observation of the cytokine was on the 6 and 18 hours post-infection. The different expression profiles of cytokines/chemokines were observed. The up-regulation of gene expression was observed for IL-8 and IP-10. In contrast, the down-regulatory of IL-6 and MIP-1β genes expression was documented during the infection period. The cytokine IL-8 and IP-10 are potent chemoattractants  in the recruitment  of neutrophil, basophil, and lymphocytes in response to an infection. The highlight of this study is on the up-regulation of IL-8 and IP-10 genes expression which may confirm the roles of these chemokines in the pathogenesis of dengue infection.

Abstract

[Level of Understanding and Interest of Domestic Tourists in Yoga as a Wellness Tourism Service Activity in Bali] Based on the Global Web Index report (2019), it is said that health tourism travel has experienced growth of 15.3% every year from 2015 to 2017, reaching 830 million trips annually. (8) Indonesia is in the 19th position out of 20 countries as a wellness tourism destination, according to the Global Wellness Tourism Economy 2020 report. (14) Currently, research related to wellness tourism has been intensively carried out, however research specializing in yoga has not been widely studied. This research aims to explore domestic tourists' understanding and interest in yoga as a wellness tourism service activity in Bali. This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. Implementation in December 2023 – March 2024 with a simple random sampling method. The data analysis used was univariate analysis. The number of samples in this study was 80 people. The research results showed that the characteristics of the respondents were dominated by 47 people (58.8%) who are female, 45 people aged 15 - 25 years (56.3%), 14 people from Jakarta (17.5%), and 37 students (46.3%). A total of 44 respondents really understood the general description of yoga (55.0%), and research respondents were dominated by respondents who often did yoga (more than once a week), as many as 29 people (36.3%). The level of understanding of yoga among research respondents was dominated by 51 respondents (63.8%) who understood yoga. The level of interest in yoga among research respondents was dominated by respondents who had a high level of interest in yoga, with 42 people (52.5%). This research is expected to provide information regarding domestic tourists' understanding and interest in yoga as a wellness tourism service activity in Bali.
