Abstract

Abstract: Trends in Politeness Research in Indonesian Language Education Journals: A Decade of Insights (2013–2023). Objective: Linguistic politeness is a crucial element in communication that reflects cultural norms and social values, particularly in multicultural societies like Indonesia. This study aims to analyze trends in politeness research within Indonesian language and literature education journals indexed in SINTA during 2013–2023. Methods: Employing a qualitative descriptive approach and the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research examines 63 articles based on publication volume, research methods, focus areas, theoretical adaptations, and practical implications. Articles were selected using the keywords "politeness" and "linguistic politeness" through a systematic screening process aligned with inclusion criteria, including relevance to the context of language and literature education. Thematic analysis was applied to identify patterns, key trends, and shifts in research focus. Findings: The findings reveal a significant increase in publications between 2019 and 2023, driven by the expansion of digital platforms and the rise of online learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most studies employed qualitative descriptive methods, focusing on middle school students in formal education contexts. Additionally, there has been growing attention to politeness issues in digital interactions, particularly concerning phenomena like hate speech and trolling. The study also highlights the dominance of international politeness theories, such as those by Brown and Levinson, which have been modified to reflect Indonesia's cultural diversity and social norms. This underscores the need for more excellent localization of global theories. Conclusion: As a recommendation, diversifying research methodologies by incorporating quantitative and mixed methods approaches is strongly advised to provide a more comprehensive understanding of politeness dynamics. Furthermore, integrating politeness education into curricula is essential to promote courteous communication in multicultural and digital contexts. This research contributes to the theoretical discourse by enriching discussions on linguistic politeness and offers practical strategies for fostering harmonious communication in traditional and digital environments. studies. Keywords: content analysis, education journals, indonesian language, politeness research, research trends.

Abstract

Strengthening the character of environmental care is an important effort to ensure the survival of all creatures in the future. However, currently the awareness of the importance of protecting the environment is still low in society, and schools have a very important role in developing this environmental awareness character. Environmental sensitivity includes attitudes and measures to prevent environmental damage and repair damage that has occurred. The environment not only plays a vital role for human life but is also important in the context of education in schools, affecting student success. This study aims to evaluate the use of contextualised learning approach in strengthening environmental awareness character in junior high school students. The research method used literature analysis from secondary sources. The results show that the contextual learning approach has a positive impact on strengthening students' environmental care character, allowing them to link learning with practical applications in daily life. This approach is also in line with efforts to realise the ‘Merdeka Belajar’ initiative initiated by the Ministry of Education, contributing to the realisation of national education goals.

Abstract

The pedagogical challenge in health vocational education lies in preventing the reduction of Civic Education to a mere formalistic exercise that fails to influence professional behavior. This study investigates the construction of Pancasila values through the implementation of Moral Inquiry as a deliberative instructional strategy designed to foster prosocial character among health vocational students. We explored the lived experiences of eight participants from Speech Therapy, Radiodiagnostic and Radiotherapy, and Hospital Administration programs who engaged in a systematic value internalisation process. By utilizing professional ethical dilemmas as the primary stimulus for cognitive disequilibrium, the research sought to move students beyond conventional rule-following toward a post-conventional civic disposition. Adopting a transcendental descriptive phenomenological approach, we focused on the structural and textural descriptions of the students' moral development. Our findings indicate that the construction of prosocial character is achieved through a rigorous process of ego reduction where the students’ self-oriented professional motives are surrendered to the civic imperatives of humanity and social justice. We identified a critical transition from theoretical value recognition to a habitual "moral automation" where prosociality becomes a core component of the students' vocational identity. This study demonstrates that the integration of civic values into specialized vocational training creates a "moral-technical synthesis" that empowers students to act as moral agents within the healthcare system. We conclude that this deliberative pedagogy is essential for developing a workforce that embodies the ethical spirit of the state philosophy while maintaining technical excellence in their respective health fields.
