Abstract

This study aims to inform the initial data on water quality around the PSDKU IPB Sukabumi campus before the campus was built. Surface water is represented by the upstream, middle and lower reaches of the Cibeureum River. Residents' well water which represents the location of the planned construction of the PSDKU IPB campus in Sukabumi City, namely Babakan Village. Surface water quality parameters that do not meet the quality standards are BOD, COD, Nitrite, and Total Phosphate, while in well water quality, the parameter that does not meet the quality standards is Manganese (Mn). The pollution index indicates that the surface water quality is generally lightly polluted. For surface water, exceeding the quality standards of several parameters can be related to domestic waste and runoff from agricultural areas. The high value of Manganese in well water is a common phenomenon, which describes the natural characteristics of well water.

Abstract

The research aimed to determine the vulnerability level of the Cikeas watershed in terms of socio-economic and institutional aspects. The primary data collection method used purposive and snowball sampling. Secondary data were obtained from the Environmental Agency (DLH), Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Center (BBWS) and Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Data analysis used quantitative descriptive analysis based on the formulation of watershed level characterization system. The vulnerability level of the Cikeas watershed in social aspects (population density and traditional values) was very high (very vulnerable). Conservation behaviour was classified as not vulnerable and somewhat vulnerable. On the economic aspect, most sub-districts in the Cikeas watershed were classified as somewhat vulnerable. The dominant economic sector was in the form of services. In terms of the institutional aspect, it was classified as not vulnerable and somewhat vulnerable because there were formal and informal institutions that have played an active role in the Cikeas watershed conservation activities. Watershed problems were related to the community's concern for environmental management. Thus, the involvement of the community and other relevant stakeholders in the planning, formulation, implementation of watershed policies was indispensable to achieve sustainable watershed management.

Abstract

Given the emergence of several new regulations in the environmental sector, stakeholders need to understand these regulations well. Therefore, this article aims to provide a practical understanding of the mechanism for compiling and evaluating environmental documents to obtain environmental approvals contained in a number of new regulations. The issuance of Government Regulation No. 22 of 2021 requires the issuance of several new Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulations. There are several new requirements that must be met in submitting an application for an environmental feasibility test, namely: Letter of direction for the preparation of environmental documents, Statement letter that the proposed activity is still in the planning stage (for new activity plans), Technical Approval, Initial approval related to the business/activity plan, Evidence of conformity of the location of the business/activity plan with the spatial plan. The authority to assess environmental documents is based on the authority to issue business permits and the establishment of a Feasibility Test Team (TUK) to replace the role of the EIA Assessment Commission (KPA).

Abstract

Organic matter entering through the inlet and activities in the Koto Panjang Reservoir body is feared to be the main source of nutrient contribution in the form of nitrogen (N) and phosphate (P) for reservoir waters. Nutrients N and P are utilised by phytoplankton in the photosynthesis process. If this condition continues, it is feared that it will affect water quality (blooming algae) which has an impact on aquatic biota. This study aims to determine the type and abundance of phytoplankton along with the distribution of chlorophyll a in reservoir waters. This study used descriptive, qualitative and quantitative methods and analysed the distribution of chlorophyll a using surfer software. Based on the results of the study, it is known that water quality is relatively good with temperatures ranging from 26-310C, brightness ranging from 0.69-1.96 m, dissolved oxygen (DO) is 5.60-6.80 mg/L and turbidity is 1-6 NTU. The results showed that phytoplankton composition was composed of 5 classes consisting of Euglenophyceae (1 species), Cyanophyceae (3 species), Conjugatophyceae or Zygnematophyceae (4 species), Chlorophyceae (4 species) and Bacillariophyceae (10 species). The dominating class in the reservoir zonation is different. In the riverine zone the Bacillariophyceae class dominates by 60.06%, in the transition zone the Cyanophyceae class by 91.60% and in the lacustrine zone the dominating class is Conjugatophyceae or Zygnematophyceae by 78.69%. Phytoplankton abundance ranged from 166.5-2,193 sell/m3. The highest abundance was located in the lacustrine zone and the lowest abundance in the riverine zone. The distribution of chlorophyll a in Koto Panjang Reservoir is varied, the highest distribution is located in the transition zone to the lacustrine zone.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to assess the water quality of the Pesouha River and identify key pollution-contributing parameters using various types of analysis. The Pollution Index Analysis values range from 0.617 to 2.47, indicating quality from good to light pollution. Additionally, the Water Quality Index (WQI-INA) analysis results range from 79.2 (fairly good) to 90.93 (very good). Correlation analysis of Cr6+ and iron (Fe) in water is 0.91; TSS and (Cr6+) is 0.85; TSS and Fe is 0.86; TSS and IP is 0.68; Cr6+ and IP is 0.72; Fe and IP is 0.6. Regression analysis using hexavalent chromium (Cr6+) as the independent variable (X) and the Pollution Index as the dependent variable (Y) yielded a multiple R-value of 0.722, indicating a strong correlation between X and Y. The Adjusted R2 value is 0.46, meaning X can explain Y, in this case, the parameter (Cr6+) can explain Y or Pollution Indeks by 46%, and other factors influence the rest. The regression equation formed is Y = (-0.099) + (0.12) X, meaning that if the value of X = 0. then the value of Y is (-0.99) with a positive relationship between parameters.

Abstract

Rapid population growth in Bandar Lampung, especially in coastal areas, has impacted the environment. Pasaran Island is a small inhabited island that originally only had an area of 2 ha but has now grown to 12.02 ha due to sedimentation and reclamation carried out by the island's residents. Pasaran Island faces great challenges, especially related to carrying capacity and capacity to maintain environmental sustainability and the quality of life of its residents. This study aimed to analyze the carrying capacity and capacity of Pasaran Island. A spatial analysis approach was used to evaluate land requirements and the limits of the island's ability to support its population optimally. Spatial calculations used were according to the Regulation of the Minister of Public Works No.20/PRT/M/2007 on techniques for analyzing physical, environmental, economic, and socio-cultural aspects in preparing spatial plans. The results showed that the carrying capacity on the Pasaran Island is 0.601, which means that the carrying capacity of the settlement is low and unable to accommodate the population in the area. Based on the analysis of the carrying capacity of people, when viewed specifically on Pasaran Island, it can only accommodate 827 people, even though there are currently 1,500 residents. Thus, the results show that there is an overpopulation of 673 people.
