Abstract

This study investigates the convergence of Islamic social finance, educational waqf, and FinTech to finance Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 in Indonesia. It aims to map the potential and challenges of this integration and propose a synergistic conceptual model. Employing a qualitative approach, we collected primary data through in-depth interviews with 25 key stakeholders, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and analysis of policy documents. Thematic analysis reveals that the potential of educational waqf is hampered by regulatory asymmetry and governance deficits within the nadzir institution, leading to a strategic misalignment with specific SDG 4 targets. Our findings identify the dual role of FinTech as a capital mobilizer via micro-waqf platforms and as a blockchain-based monitor that builds transparency. The study concludes that realizing an effective waqf ecosystem requires an integrated approach: strengthening regulatory foundations and nadzir capacity, leveraging FinTech as a catalyst, and adopting an SDG-aligned impact measurement framework. Future research should prioritize developing and testing such a measurement framework and exploring regulatory sandbox models for Shari'ah-compliant waqf FinTech innovation. Abstract

This study analyzes the development of digital cash waqf in Indonesia by exploring its opportunities, challenges, and strategic implications. It aims to provide a comprehensive synthesis of the impact of digital platforms on public participation, the efficiency of institutional coordination, and the potential for financial innovations such as Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk (CWLS). Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA framework, the research conducted a rigorous identification and screening process of 195 articles from the Scopus database, ultimately selecting 25 high-quality articles for detailed thematic analysis. The key findings reveal that digital platforms significantly increase participation, particularly among younger generations, driven by ease of use, social influence, and digital literacy. However, the study also identifies complex challenges, including weak coordination among the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI), nadzir (waqf managers), and Islamic financial institutions, coupled with low public literacy and trust. While innovations like CWLS offer considerable potential for sustainable development, their implementation faces obstacles stemming from an immature regulatory framework and ineffective marketing strategies. Based on these findings, the study concludes that optimizing digital cash waqf requires strengthening regulations, enhancing literacy through digital campaigns, building the capacity of nadzir, and fostering more synergistic institutional collaboration. Future research should explore innovative business models, assess the specific effectiveness of fintech platforms, and investigate the determinants of CWLS adoption from both customer and regulatory perspectives to enrich waqf development strategies in the digital era.

Abstract

This study provides compelling empirical evidence for the effectiveness of integrating digital learning media with gamified assessment tools in the context of Islamic secondary education. Addressing a clear research gap regarding the combined impact of such technologies in Al-Quran Hadits instruction, the researchers employed a quasi-experimental design with 68 eleventh-grade students at MAN Kota Batu. The experimental group utilized a digital flipbook for content delivery, reinforced by a series of Wordwall-based gamified assessments, including quizzes and matching games. The control group, in contrast, received instruction through conventional textbooks. The study’s findings were statistically significant and robust. The experimental group exhibited substantially higher learning motivation, with a mean score of 82.47 compared to 71.35 in the control group, representing a large effect size. Furthermore, their learning outcomes were markedly superior, with a mean score of 84.56 versus 72.18, also demonstrating a very large effect size. A MANOVA analysis confirmed a significant multivariate effect, indicating that the treatment had a powerful positive influence on the combined dependent variables of motivation and achievement. These results suggest that the interactive and engaging nature of the digital flipbook, combined with the immediate feedback and game-like elements of Wordwall, creates a more stimulating and effective learning environment. The study offers crucial quantitative evidence for educators and policymakers in madrasahs, supporting the strategic integration of technology to enhance both student engagement and academic performance in religious studies.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of AI-based learning tools on Arabic language learning among Arabic students, with student engagement and educational content quality as mediators. This study used a quantitative causal-explanatory design and administered an online questionnaire to students, teachers, and education professionals (N=960). Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the data, there was a large direct positive effect of AI tools on proficiency and an even stronger positive mediating effect of student engagement. Unexpectedly, perceptions of educational content quality were strongly negatively associated with proficiency, suggesting that a mismatch between content design and the learner’s sociocultural context may impede learning even when the pedagogical design is sound. The results highlight that the success of AI in language learning is not merely a function of the state of the technology, but, more importantly, a function of pedagogically sound content and its continued capacity to promote profound engagement. This research enhances the science of technology-enhanced learning by proposing a refined model for English language education in Egypt and by providing implementation-oriented suggestions for furthering practice, calling for a shift from technocentric implementation to learner-centric orchestration of AI in Arabic language education.
