Abstract

This study examines the effects of AI-based learning tools on Arabic language learning among Arabic students, with student engagement and educational content quality as mediators. This study used a quantitative causal-explanatory design and administered an online questionnaire to students, teachers, and education professionals (N=960). Using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the data, there was a large direct positive effect of AI tools on proficiency and an even stronger positive mediating effect of student engagement. Unexpectedly, perceptions of educational content quality were strongly negatively associated with proficiency, suggesting that a mismatch between content design and the learner’s sociocultural context may impede learning even when the pedagogical design is sound. The results highlight that the success of AI in language learning is not merely a function of the state of the technology, but, more importantly, a function of pedagogically sound content and its continued capacity to promote profound engagement. This research enhances the science of technology-enhanced learning by proposing a refined model for English language education in Egypt and by providing implementation-oriented suggestions for furthering practice, calling for a shift from technocentric implementation to learner-centric orchestration of AI in Arabic language education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the principal's efforts in fostering organizational culture at MTs Darunnajah Jakarta, particularly in creating an educational climate that supports character development, discipline, and quality of learning. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, administrative staff, and students, participant observation of madrasah activities, and documentation analysis. The data obtained were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that organizational culture at MTs Darunnajah Jakarta is characterized by the existence of behavioral rules, norms, and dominant values that emphasize respect, politeness, discipline, and kinship. The principal plays a central role in fostering this culture through structural strategies, such as religious programs and routine activities, as well as non-structural strategies such as role models, moral development, and democratic communication. Supporting factors for fostering organizational culture include parental involvement, teacher loyalty, and the existence of character-building programs, while inhibiting factors include limited resources and the inactivity of some teachers and students. These findings emphasize the importance of visionary, transformational, and participatory leadership in building a productive and competitive organizational culture in madrasas.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the application of deep learning technologies in enhancing the effectiveness of the Islamic Religious Education (IRE) curriculum in madrasahs. Employing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology based on the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, this research synthesizes findings from 42 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025, sourced from Scopus-indexed journals and SINTA-accredited national journals. The review identifies five major thematic areas: (1) adaptive and personalized learning through deep learning algorithms, (2) automated curriculum content analysis using Natural Language Processing, (3) predictive analytics for student learning outcomes, (4) intelligent assessment and feedback systems, and (5) deep learning-enhanced multimedia for IRE instruction. Findings reveal that deep learning applications hold significant promise for personalizing IRE content delivery, improving student engagement with Quranic and Hadith-based materials, and enabling data-driven curriculum evaluation. However, substantial challenges persist, including limited technological infrastructure in madrasahs, insufficient teacher digital literacy, ethical considerations surrounding AI in religious education, and the scarcity of Arabic and Indonesian language training datasets for deep learning models. This study contributes to the literature by bridging the gap between artificial intelligence research and Islamic education, proposing a conceptual framework for the systematic integration of deep learning into the IRE curriculum. The findings provide actionable recommendations for policymakers, madrasah administrators, and educational technology developers seeking to modernize Islamic education while preserving its spiritual and moral foundations.

Abstract

The digital transformation has fundamentally altered the landscape of Islamic dawah (preaching). However, existing studies remain fragmented across isolated platforms, specific demographics, or singular aspects of digital religious communication, lacking an integrated analytical framework that systematically maps the interrelationship between benefits, obstacles, and mitigation strategies. This qualitative study addresses this gap by conducting a systematic literature review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol, synthesizing findings from 35 peer-reviewed articles published between 2022 and 2025, sourced from Scopus-indexed journals and Indonesian SINTA-accredited publications (SINTA 2–4). Employing thematic analysis based on the Braun and Clarke framework, this research identifies four categories of benefits (expanded reach transcending geographical boundaries, enhanced youth engagement, interactive religious discourse, and democratization of religious knowledge), four categories of obstacles (misinformation proliferation, content verification challenges, commercialization of religious messages, and algorithmic barriers), and three strategic responses (strategic content planning, ethical guidelines adherence through Maqasid al-Shariah, and multi-stakeholder collaboration). The study proposes an original Digital Dawah Ecosystem Framework that conceptualizes the dialectical relationship between enabling and constraining factors in digital religious communication, revealing a "digital dawah paradox" in which the same platform affordances that facilitate expanded outreach simultaneously create conditions for misinformation and content distortion. Theoretically, this study extends the Uses and Gratifications Theory into the domain of religious digital communication. It contributes to the Mediatization of Religion theory by demonstrating how platform logics reshape dawah practices. Practically, the findings offer an operationalized strategic model for dawah practitioners, religious institutions, policymakers, and platform operators seeking to optimize digital religious communication while maintaining Islamic ethical integrity.

Abstract

Digital transformation in Islamic boarding schools requires integrating learning organization models with adaptive learning to address the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and society 5.0. This article aims to analyze the construction of the integration of the two concepts in the context of digitization of students in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools. The study focuses on a technology-based adaptive learning model associated with the five Senge disciplines in pesantren governance. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA protocol, based on 35 Scopus- and Sinta-indexed articles published between 2015 and 2025. The results of the study show that the integration of learning organization and adaptive learning forms four dimensions of transformation, namely modernization of data-based curriculum, strengthening the digital capacity of ustadz and students, system-based governance, and preservation of Islamic values. These findings confirm that the Islamic boarding schools that have succeeded in transforming are those that make collective learning a culture and personalize learning as a strategy. It is concluded that the Senge-Adaptive Learning hybrid framework is feasible as a model for digital pesantren governance.

Abstract

Bullying remains a pervasive concern in Indonesian elementary schools, with approximately 30% of reported cases occurring at the primary education level. This community service study examines the implementation and effectiveness of an anti-bullying seminar conducted by university students from Universitas Darunnajah for elementary school children in Cidokom Village, Bogor Regency. The program employed a participatory action approach that integrated interactive seminars, role-playing activities, and psychoeducational workshops, targeting 85 students in grades 4 through 6. Pre-test and post-test assessments were administered to measure changes in students’ knowledge of how to identify bullying, empathy levels, and intentions to intervene as bystanders. Descriptive statistical analysis, supplemented by qualitative observational data, revealed significant improvements across all measured indicators. Students’ knowledge of bullying types and recognition increased from a mean score of 52.4 to 78.6, while empathy scores improved from 48.7 to 74.2. Bystander intervention intentions rose from 45.3 to 76.8. Qualitative findings indicated heightened student engagement and increased willingness to report bullying incidents. This study contributes to the growing body of literature on university-community partnerships in bullying prevention. It demonstrates the viability of student-led community service programs as vehicles for promoting safe school environments in rural Indonesian communities.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the moderating role of self-efficacy using a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected through cognitive achievement tests (pretest and posttest), a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring perceived LMS module effectiveness, and a self-efficacy questionnaire grounded in Bandura’s three-dimensional framework (magnitude, generality, and strength). Data analysis included paired sample t-tests, Wilcoxon Signed-Rank tests, Spearman correlations, and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). Results indicated a statistically significant improvement in learning outcomes following the LMS-based module intervention (t(26) = −8.32, p < .001, Cohen’s d = 1.60). However, neither perceived LMS effectiveness nor self-efficacy demonstrated significant correlations with posttest scores. The moderation analysis revealed that self-efficacy did not significantly moderate the relationship between LMS effectiveness and learning outcomes (R² = .006, p = .839). These findings suggest that while LMS-based modules effectively enhance cognitive achievement, the homogeneity of self-efficacy levels and ceiling effects in posttest scores may have constrained the detection of moderation effects.

Abstract

Digital transformation has reshaped debates on access, equity, and quality in higher education, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a key enabler. This study synthesizes existing literature to examine the intersections between AI integration, digital leadership, pedagogical competency, and equity-oriented practices. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the PRISMA framework, the study analyzed 69 peer-reviewed articles (2022–2025) from Scopus and Watase databases. The findings identified three main themes: expanding digital access, advancing learning equity, and improving quality through AI-based pedagogy. Significant regional differences exist; developing countries (such as Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand) focus on infrastructure and teacher training, while developed countries emphasize ethics and curriculum innovation. Methodologically, quantitative approaches dominate and theories such as TPACK and TAM are relied upon. The study concludes that AI's impact is maximized when combined with human factors, such as teacher self-efficacy and institutional leadership. AI is not a neutral tool, but rather a transformative force tied to ethics and inclusivity. Future research should prioritize methodological pluralism and long-term evaluation to align technological advances with educational equity

Abstract

This study investigates the convergence of Islamic social finance, educational waqf, and FinTech to finance Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 in Indonesia. It aims to map the potential and challenges of this integration and propose a synergistic conceptual model. Employing a qualitative approach, we collected primary data through in-depth interviews with 25 key stakeholders, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and analysis of policy documents. Thematic analysis reveals that the potential of educational waqf is hampered by regulatory asymmetry and governance deficits within the nadzir institution, leading to a strategic misalignment with specific SDG 4 targets. Our findings identify the dual role of FinTech as a capital mobilizer via micro-waqf platforms and as a blockchain-based monitor that builds transparency. The study concludes that realizing an effective waqf ecosystem requires an integrated approach: strengthening regulatory foundations and nadzir capacity, leveraging FinTech as a catalyst, and adopting an SDG-aligned impact measurement framework. Future research should prioritize developing and testing such a measurement framework and exploring regulatory sandbox models for Shari'ah-compliant waqf FinTech innovation.
