Abstract

Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a learning method considered to be capable of changing the students’ perception in facing the challenges of the 21st century. This study was aimed to improve soft skills in the form of critical thinking, motivation, and group dynamics and hard skills in the form of psychomotor ability by applying PBL. This study was designed with an action research design. The research subjects were 30 students at the age of 19 to 22 years old. Data were collected with performance appraisal, observation sheet and questionnaires. The results indicated that (1) the students’ critical thinking works effectively during problem identification and problem hypothesis, (2) increasing motivational ability indicated by time discipline, and (3) improved group dynamics skills during group discussions and groups activities. The results for psychomotor ability showed an increase of 16.6 or 17%. This confirmed that PBL improved the students’ soft skills and hard skills reflected in positive and effective group activities.

Abstract

Career selection is a student's decision-making on the basis of understanding potential. Some of the problems of current vocational school graduates include lack of self-knowledge; not being able to decide after graduation, whether to work, study, or self-employed; lack of understanding of work; not being able to combine potential the job to be chosen; and have not been able to plan their career. The research aims to determine the effect of self-efficacy, self-concept, career maturity, vocational maturity, and career orientation of vocational students in making career decisions. The sampling technique used is probability sampling. The research subjects were students of Vocational High School grade XI and XII. The regression test data analysis techniques to determine the correlation between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The results showed that there was a positive and significant influence between career self-efficacy, self-concept, career maturity, vocational maturity, and career orientation of vocational students in career decision-making of 20.3%. Based on the research that has been done, students' career choice is the impact given to career spirit. BK and BKK are expected to be able to optimize their services related to various world information, the number of job opportunities, and qualifications needed for various professions, so that students can make independent choices

Abstract

Learning process at SMK Ma'arif 2 Sleman still passive and uncontrolled, this condition affects to the student learning outcomes. The role of the teacher in the learning process needs to be improved with the right methods to make students more active and encourage the student to solve the problems. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is one of learning method which the characteristics capable of demanding learners actively and directly involved in the learning. The Aim of this study is want to know affect  PBL method can increase the activity and psychomotor learning outcomes of students. The subjects were students of class XI SMK Ma'arif  2014/2015 academic year. Collecting data used in this research is qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed an increase in activity of learners by 12.98% and psychomotor learning outcomes by implementing PBL increased 9.01%. The conclusion using PBL method was known that activities of students increase practical subject.

Abstract

Risk analysis aims to prevent the incompatibility of a system used in the testing process including the Boiler system. At the Labuan 2 Steam Power Plant (PLTU) 2, the Boiler component was declared "very often" to have a pipe leak. Failure Mode And Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a method used to analyze the risk of failure. This method is represented by calculating the value of RPN (Risk Priority Number) obtained from the results of the multiplication of S (severty), O (occurrence), and D (detection). The highest analysis results are shown at 480 (in the steam drum component in the form of abnormal steam and water level failure). The cause is human error. Next three levels below are (1) Economizer component, which is 360 causes of combustion side ash erosion, material lifetime, and economizer tube fibration; (2) super heater tube and re-heater tube components which are 320 due to Corrosion, Overheat Flyash erosion, Sub blower erosion, Welding error; and (3) Walltube which is 320 causes of overheating and sub blower erosion. The recommendation for the analysis of FMEA testing to predict mantenance is done by applying remaining life assessment after 8,000 hours / operational.

Abstract

Tujuan perancangan panel peraga kelistrikan luar mobil ini adalah  untuk  meningkatkan kompetensi berfikir  kritis mahasiswa. Media pembelajaran yang telah dirancang selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian untuk didapatkan validasi sesuai dengan karakteristik media meliputi aspek: kriteria pendidikan, tampilan program, dan kualitas teknis. Validasi ini di bagi menjadi dua bagian yaitu validasi ahli dan validasi pengguna. Validasi ahli terdiri dari validasi oleh ahli media yang dilakukan oleh dosen di bidang pendidikan kejuruan. Analisis terhadap pakar ahli media dengan kriteria tampilan program dan kualitas teknis memiliki rerata “baik”, secara  tampilan dan kualitas teknis sudah baik. Setelah dilakukan revisi, maka selanjutnya analisis isi materi dengan kriteria pendidikan, tampilan program, dan kualitas teknis sesuai dengan kebutuhan uji. Pada bidang materi hasil rerata yang didapatkan “Sangat Baik”. Hasil uji pengguna diperoleh hasil “Sangat Baik” dilihat dari segi pendidikan, tampilan program, dan kualitas teknis. Pernyataan tersebut diperkuat dengan sikap dan tanggapan mahasiswa yang dapat disimpulkan bahwa media ini dapat dniyatakan “Sangat Baik”. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa siswa sangat tertarik dengan media yang bersifat baru dan menyenangkan, serta dapat memotivasi belajar mahasiswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menelaah proses pembinaan dan internalisasi nilai-nilai kemampuan berfikir tinggi ke rendah atau sebaliknya, serta berbagai faktor yang mempengaruhi dinamika implementasi nilai dalam perilaku akademik. Penelitian ini membahas pemahaman pendidikan, tingkatan berfikir, proses pembinaan, perilaku keilmuan, dan implementasi nilai dalam perilaku akademik. Simpulan dari kajian ini adalah; (1) Masih terdapat berbagai persoalan yang menyebabkan sulitnya menjadikan pendidikan sebagai pembinaan karakter berfikir kritis dan nilai-nilai kehidupan. (2) Dinamika tingkat berfikir dipengaruhi beberapa hal diantaranya adalah proses pembinaan karakter di lembaga pendidikan, perkembangan politik/kebijakan, perkembangan ekonomi, perkembangan sosial dan budaya. (3) Proses pembinaan karakter berfikir, penyampaian dan internalisasi dalam pembelajaran nilai-nilai kehidupan kepada siswa dengan proses yang sedemikian rupa sehingga siswa: mendapatkan pengetahuan/pengalaman hidup yang mendasari proses berpikir dan bertindak. Tindakan siswa akan mendapatkan reaksi dan orang lain dan dirinya sendiri, sehingga reaksi tersebut menjadi bahan renungan yang mendalam bagi siswa. Proses renungan akan menumbuhkan dan menghasilkan kesadaran, semakin dalam dan semakin ikhlas kesadaran itu tumbuh maka akan menjadi kesadaran integral dan menjadi sikap utuh dalam berfikir dan bertindak.

Abstract

Motivasi dan prestasi dalam belajar merupakan dua aspek yang saling berhubungan, dimana peningkatan prestasi disebabkan motivasi belajar yang tinggi. Penelitian ini merupakan PTK yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan prestasi belajar mahasiswa PTM kompetensi interpretasi gambar teknik pada bidang otomotif melalui penerapan metode Problem Based Learning (PBL). Kegiatan pembelajaran dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus yang terdiri dari empat tahap dalam setiap siklusnya yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar observasi, angket dan tes unjuk kerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode PBL  mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar dengan kriteria (a) tekun dalam tugas, (b) ulet dalam kesulitan, (c) minat dalam permasalahan, (d) senang bekerja mandiri, (e) mengerjakan tugas dengan rutin, (f) mempertahankan pendapat, dan (g) senang mencari dan memecahkan masalah, adapun peningkatan motivasi belajar sebesar 10.33%. Metode PBL dapat meningkatkan prestasi unjuk kerja sebesar 9.58%. Selain itu PBL menjadikan peran instruktur sebagai fasilitator dan menjadikan mahasiswa lebih aktif dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah multimedia pembelajaran servis sepeda motor yang telah dibuat dan dikembangkan sudah layak atau efektif berdasarkan karakteristik media pembelajaran yang baik. Pengembangan multimedia pembelajaran menggunakan model ADDIE yaitu Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation dan Evaluate. Validasi kelayakan media menggunakan validasi ahli dan validasi pengguna. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket atau kuesioner. Analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif berdasarkan perolehan persentase. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) media pembelajaran yang baik harus memenuhi karakteristik media berupa kriteria pendidikan, tampilan program dan kualitas teknis dan (2) hasil penelitian berdasarkan kriteria pendidikan, tampilan program dan kualitas teknis masing-masing diperoleh rerata secara keseluruhan sebagai berikut 89,99%; 83,34% dan 83,02%. Hasil penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa multimedia pembelajaran yang telah dibuat dan dikembangkan telah memenuhi karakteristik media pembelajaran yang baik dengan kategori “sangat baik”.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of fuel (diesel oil, walnut oil and sesame oil), the characteristics of the fuel mixture and knowing the amount of fuel consumption with a variation of the engine rotation. Measurements were made using 898 analyzer stages. Data were analyzed descriptively by describing the graphics and measurable phenomenon. The test results found that: (1) the characteristics of hazelnut oil, sesame oil meets the characteristics of the fuel; (2) a mixture of diesel fuel to 80% with 10% of hazelnut oil and sesame oil 10% yield better characteristics; and (3) the fuel consumption of the engine rev 1600 rpm, 2000 rpm and 2300 rpm is more stable on a mixture of diesel fuel to 80% with hazelnut oil 10% and sesame oil 10% each SFC obtained as follows 0.279882, 0.288938 and 0.281213.

Abstract

Thermal energy storage has a good opportunity to be applied in engineering field, especially for low temperature application like automotive thermal management system. Paraffinic is a better option and considered as a good phase change material with main advantages like economically feasible, non-corrosive and safe. The main drawbacks of paraffinic system are low thermal conductivity and supercooling effect. The effort to improve the performance for paraffinic system is by g sensible material. Considering the spread of volcano in Indonesia, it can be used as sensible material for paraffinic system. The aim of the research is to examine the volcanic ash characteristic and the effect of sand addition on the paraffinic system. a standardized approach for sand examination is done and the effect of the hybrid PCM (90% paraffin and 10% volcanic ash mass ratio) are studied. The overall performance of hybrid PCM is better than pure paraffin where the vapor point of hybrid PCM is increased and there is no supercooling phenomenon observed.
