Abstract

Ibn Maskawih defines the soul as a simple substance that cannot be sensed by any of the senses. the soul comes from an abundance of active reason ('aql fa'al). The human soul has three levels of power. From a low level, the order is stated as: Al-Nafs al-Bahimiyah (animal lust) which is bad, Al Nafs al-Sabu'iah (lust for wild animals) is moderate, Al Nafs al-Nathiqah (intelligent soul) is good. The soul cannot be accidental because it - in itself - has the power to distinguish between accident and essential concepts, and is not limited to conscious awareness of accidental things by the senses, but can perceive a wide variety of immaterial and abstract entities. Ibn Miskawaih argues that the effort to achieve al- sa'adat cannot be done alone, but must be together on the basis of mutual help and complementarity. The concept of morals developed by Ibn Miskawaih is closer to being said as religious- philosophical ethics, because the thoughts he conveys are always based on the guidance of religious teachings. So it is not uncommon when in his writings found various verses of the Koran and Hadith to support his argument.

Abstract

Fawatih al-suwar is the preamble or beginning of the surahs in the Qur'an because of its position that initiates the passage of texts in a Letter of the Qur'an. Of the 114 letters in the Qur'an, there are 29 letters beginning with al-ahruf al-muqaththa'ah. Al-ahruf al-muqaththa'ah consists of a portion of the Hijaiyah letters. As is known the letters, the Hijaiyah letters in arabic consist of 28 letters, or in other opinions 29 letters if the letters ال are part of the letters. Of the 28 letters, 14 of them are part of al-ahruf al-muqaththa'ah.  Namely: ق، ط، س، ر، ح، ا، ي ل، ن، م، ل، ع، ه، ك،.  Al-ahruf al-muqaththa'ah is a separoh of the Hijaiyah letter, a part of the letter hams is al-ahruf al- muqaththa'ah.  In Fawatih al-suwar, it is depicted that the technique of opening up good lessons, so as to arouse the interest and motivation of students in learning. In addition to the technique of opening lessons, the educational value contained in fawatih al-suwar is the giving of praise/reward and punishment/punishment.  This can be seen in the opening of the Qur'an letter using praise and verdict. Another educational value contained in fawatih al-suwar is the method of giving questions.

Abstract

Inclusive education in Islam affirms every santri’s right to access religious learning; however, this study specifically focuses on inclusive Islamic education for students with disabilities in pesantrens and Islamic schools. In practice, these institutions face persistent challenges, including limited physical accessibility, scarcity of adaptive learning materials, insufficient teacher competencies, and social stigma toward students with special needs. This study aims to theoretically and practically identify approaches, research trends, and gaps related to the integration of differentiated learning and digital technology in inclusive Islamic education. Using a qualitative library research method, this study systematically reviews and thematically analyzes selected peer-reviewed literature published between 2019 and 2024, focusing on differentiated instruction, educational technology in Islamic education, and inclusive practices for students with disabilities. The findings indicate that integrating differentiated content, process, product, and learning environments with digital tools such as e-learning platforms, audio-based tafsir applications, gamified fiqh learning, and assistive media (Braille materials and sign-language videos) enhances learning motivation, conceptual understanding, and classroom participation. Documented case studies show improved student engagement, better access to religious texts, and more adaptive instructional practices. Nevertheless, limited technological infrastructure, low teacher digital literacy, and a lack of locally grounded empirical research remain significant challenges. These findings underscore the importance of technology-based differentiated learning for strengthening inclusive Islamic education and informing adaptive curricula, teacher development, and inclusive educational policies.

Abstract

Pegagan is a plant that is widely used for its leaves. The surface of pegagan leaves has stomata that function to regulate gas exchange and transpiration. In addition to the number of stomata, chlorophyll content also greatly affects photosynthesis. Chlorophyll helps plants absorb sunlight during photosynthesis, converting CO2 into carbohydrates for plant energy. This study aims to obtain accessions that are resistant to environmental stress and have high chlorophyll content, as well as to obtain appropriate watering applications. This study was conducted from May to September 2019. The research was conducted in two locations, namely the Jumantono Experimental Laboratory (pegagan cultivation) and the Laboratory of Physiology and Tissue Culture, Faculty of Agriculture, Sebelas Maret University for laboratory analysis. The tools used were polybags, soil, manure, 3 pegagan seed accessions, nail polish, microscope slides, and a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The field study employed a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors: factor 1 was accession (accession 1, accession 2, accession 3), and factor 2 was watering intensity (once a day, every two days, every three days), with three replications. The research results and observation data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance, and if significant differences were found, they were followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5%. Watering intensity did not affect the number of stomata or the width of stomata, stomatal width and leaf chlorophyll in C. asiatica. Accessions with the highest number of  stomata and high chlorophyll content were accession 1. Keywords: Tempeh Liquid Waste, Peanut Plant Litter, Soybean Seeds

Abstract

Abstract. Cahyadi MA, Yunus A. 2025. Antioxidant profile of several local rice varieties from Central Java, Indonesia, under biotic stress conditions of bacterial leaf blight. Asian J Agric 9: 368-376. Central Java harbors diverse local rice germplasm that requires preservation, yet their resistance to bacterial leaf blight (BLB) caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) remains underexplored. Antioxidant activity has been linked to BLB resistance, indicating its potential as a screening tool for identifying tolerant varieties in breeding programs. This study examined four local rice varieties inoculated with Xoo, focusing on catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), superoxide dismutase (SOD), total flavonoids, and total phenolic compounds. Based on lesion length, Mentik Susu (MS) and Rojolele (RL) were resistant, while Merah Segreng (MSeg) and Hitam Mutiara (HM) showed moderate resistance. At 5 days post-inoculation (dpi), the highest CAT activity (0.019 units/mg protein) occurred in MSeg, while at 20 dpi HM showed the highest (0.014 units/mg protein). For POD, RL exhibited the highest activity (0.271 units/mL protein) at 5 dpi, and MSeg at 20 dpi (0.436 units/mL protein). The highest SOD activity at 5 dpi was observed in HM (169.35 units/mg protein), whereas MS peaked at 20 dpi (157.95 units/mg protein). These enzymatic antioxidant levels did not differ significantly among varieties, but non-enzymatic antioxidants—flavonoids and phenolics—showed significant variation, with MS and RL containing 44.30 and 27.09% more flavonoids and 25.88 and 18.91% more phenolics, respectively, than moderately resistant varieties. These findings indicate that non-enzymatic antioxidants contribute more prominently to BLB resistance than enzymatic ones, and that varieties rich in flavonoids and phenolic compounds, such as Mentik Susu and Rojolele, have stronger resistance, highlighting their potential for breeding programs to enhance tolerance against bacterial leaf blight while supporting the conservation and utilization of Central Java’s local rice diversity.

Abstract

Zodia are included in medicinal plants because it contains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, steroids/triterpenoids that have many benefit and also as mosquito repellents. The growth and content of secondary metabolites in plants can be affected by environmental factors such as water availability. Research on the cultivation of this crop is still limited. Environmental modification in cultivation is needed to increase its secondary metabolites, and the study of the potential of this plant as medicine are necessary. This study aimed to determine the effect of water availability on the growth and secondary metabolites of zodia. The research was carried out in July-November 2021 in Greenhouse, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. The method used was a completely randomized design, one treatment factor with 4 levels namely, 100, 80, 60 and 40% of field capacity. Each treatment was repeated 6 times so that there were 24 experimental polybags. The data analysis used is Analysis of Variance, and the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. The results showed that the availability of water at a level of 60% field capacity gave the best average growth parameters (plant height and number of leaves) among other treatments. The flavonoid content in each treatment showed the same average. The results of the GCMS (Gas Cromatography and Mass Spectroscopy) test of zodia leaves showed that there were dominant bioactive compounds, namely ethylbenzene, octadecamethyl cyclononasiloxane, pentadecanoid acid and heptadecanoid acid. It is suspected that the content of these compounds has the potential as antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidant and anticancer.

Abstract

Orchids are ornamental plants that have a high selling value so they are very prospective in the world of the ornamental plant business. This high economic value means that market demand for orchid commodities tends to increase. Efforts made to meet the need for orchids in the market are by propagating orchids using in vitro culture. This research aims to determine the effect of adding organic materials and NAA on the growth of orchids resulting from crossing Coelogyne pandurata and Coelogyne rumphii in vitro. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors, namely the type of organic material (tomato, carrot and potato) and the concentration of ZPT NAA (0, 1 and 2 ppm). The research results showed that the addition of potato and tomato organic materials to the VW base medium was able to stimulate plant growth. The added NAA concentrations of 1 and 2 ppm are able to stimulate optimal plant growth. The combination of adding tomato organic matter and 1 ppm NAA concentration had the best growth in the number of roots and leaves, while adding tomato organic matter and 2 ppm NAA had the best growth in the number of shoots. The combination of adding potato organic material and 2 ppm NAA can stimulate plant height growth.

Abstract

Mentik Susu is a popular rice germplasm in Indonesia. Due to field constraints in Mentik Susu rice cultivation, farmers switched to better varieties with higher yields. Farmers switch to superior types with high yields due to high plant posture, long harvest life, and low yields. Rice plants usually have a protein content of 4-5% per gram while without given radiation. It will be expected that after receiving gamma rays, the protein content in mutant plants will increase up to 7-8% per gram. The aim of this research was to evaluate the productivity and protein content of rice grain of 35 mutant strains of rices that could be developed into new varieties. The research took place at the Tegalgondo Rice Seed Garden Agricultural Land between June to October 2020. This research used Randomized Complete Block Design method with a single factor. Each treatment was repeated three times. The data obtained was analyzed with analysis of variance and followed with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at a 5% level if any significant influences. The results of this research showed productivity of 35 Mentik Susu rice lines ranged from 4.28 to 6.69 ha-1, with either a high protein content ranging from 5-8% per gram and intermediate high yield potential strains G63T11-B6-T27(1), G15T5-14-B5-T60, G15T5-14-B5-T46, G11T22-19-B1-T48, G15T5-14-B3-T36, M-MS2-G15T3-2-5 -T27, M-MS2-G18T7-4-12-T13, M-MS2-G18T7-4-9-T12. These strains might be cultivated as potential candidates for new high-yielding varieties, which would then be evaluated for higher yields or multilocation tests before becoming published as new varieties.
