Abstract

ABSTRACTGiving the rGH hormone, thyroxine hormone (T4) and its combination through the immersion method in NaCl 0,9 %. The research was done on January - March 2020 at Fish Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Aquaculture major, Faculty of Fisheries, Riau University. This research aims to determine the effect of giving rGH hormone, thyroxine hormone (T4) and their combinations, to the growth and the survival rate of gourami larvae. The method this research was used on experimentwith one-factor randomized design with four treatments and three replications. The treatments used are : P1 = Control, P2 = rGH 7 mg/L, P3 = T4 0.75 m/L, P4 = combination of rGH 7 mg/L and rGH 7 mg/L. Based on the research, the best treatment was on P4 (the combination of rGH 7 mg/L dose and thyroxine 0.75 mg/L dose) with results absolute weight growth: 1.34 g, absolute length growth: 3.8 cm, specific growth rate: 12, 3% and survival rate of fish : 98%. The quality of the water during this research was intemperature 26.1-27.4 C, pH 6.6-7.3 and dissolved oxygen 4.3-6.5 mg/L, it still supports the optimal fish growth for gouramy larvae. Keywords: rGH, Thyrokxine, Combination,Osphronemus gouramyLac.

Abstract

ABSTRACT         This study was conducted on December 2019 –February2020 at the Fish Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of vitamin C on hatchability of eggs, growth, and survival oflarvae. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The dose of vitamin C solution used isC0 (0 mg/L), C50 (50 mg/L), C100 (100 mg/L), C150 (150 mg/L) and C200 (200 mg/ L). Immersion of Freshwater Pomfret eggs with vitamin C for 3 hours with density 150 eggs and water volume 1 L. Larvaewere maintained for 20 days. The results showed that different dose of vitamin C solution had a significant effect (P <0.05) on fertilization rate (88.66%), hatching rate (91.33%), and absolute length growth (1.26 cm). However, it did not have a significant effect (P> 0.05) on absolute weight growth, specific growth rate and survival rate of larvae. The best dose of vitamin C to increase the fertilization rate, hatching rate and absolute length growth was 150 mg/L. The water quality during the study was temperature26.3-28.2 ºC, pH water 5.5-5.8, pH of hatching water 5.9-6.3, pH of larvae maintenance water 5.7-6.5 and DO 6.0-6.6 mg/L.Keywords :  Colossoma macropomum, Vitamin C,  Fertilization Rate,Hatching Rate,Growth, Survival Rate

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aquaponics system is a combination of fish rearing with plant maintenance. With this aquaponics model, two products are obtained at once, namely vegetables and fresh fish. The advantages of this system are found in the reuse of water which is a living medium for fish and water simultaneously. In addition, the use of narrow land with the application of aquaponics for catfish cultivation can be used as a solution for the production of home-scale foodstuffs and improve local food security. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of a combination of common vegetable crops consumed in the growth of catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus) in an aquaponics system. The types of vegetable plants used in this study include basil, mustard greens, lettuce and kale. The  prameters meaned the research include of the absolute weight growth rate, the specific growth rate and absolute length growth. The best results are shown by the use of mustard plants, followed by a combination of lettuce, basil and kale. The best treatment in this study was treatment with mustard plants, with absolute weight growth of 22.5 g, absolute length growth of 5.24 cm, specific growth rate of 15.03%, and feed conversion of 1.17. respectively Maintenance of the aquaponics system with different types of plant treatment showed the best survival rate of 100% in all treatments.Key words: aquaponics, catfish, basil, mustard greens, lettuce, kale, combination and food.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study to evaluate the effect of honey supplementation in physiological NaCl on sperm motility, viability, fertility and hatching rate of riverine bagrid catfish (Hemibagrus nemurus) during short storage. This experiment used Completely Random Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications, namely  P0 : 0% honey in 100%  physiological NaCl, P1 : 0,2% honey in 99,8% physiological NaCl, P2 : 0,4% honey in 99,6% physiological NaCl, P3 : 0,6% honey in 99,4% physiological NaCl, P0 : 0,8% honey in 99,2%  physiological NaCl. The result showed that the addition honey in physiological NaCl on sperm storage significantly affect sperm quality of catfish during 96 hours of storage. The result showed that the best quality sperm of catfish treated by P2 was higher (P<0,05) than other treatment. In addition, the optimal storage time was 36 hours which was very good motility and highest viability (67,5%). After 12 hours storage, fertilization rate 76,5% with hatching rate 78% but after 96 hours storage, fertility decrease until 19,39% with hatching rate 58,97%. Keywords : Hemibagrus nemurus, honey, spermatozoa

AbstractThis study was conducted on September-October 2019 in fish hatchery and Breeding laboratory, fisheries and marine faculty of RiauUniversity, Pekanbaru. The aim of this study wasto determine the effect of different thyroxine hormone doses on hatching rate, growth and survival rate of sheat-fish (ompok rhadinurus Ng). This study used a factorial complete random match (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. Different doses used on this study were; P1 (0 mg/L), P2 (0.05 mg/L), P3 (0.10 mg/L) and P4 (0.15 mg/L). Immersion of sheat-fish eggs with thyroxin hormone for 24 hours with ± 250 of sheat-fish eggs (0.5 g) and incubated  in a jar. Sheat-fish larvae maintained for 30 days. The results showed that different thyroxine hormone doses affected (P < 0.05) to fertilization rate (92.06%), incubation (21 hours 36 minutes), hatching rate (91.71%), and survival rateof sheat-fish larvae (93.30%) But, didn’t affect to absolute length growth, absolute weight growth, and specific growth rate of sheat-fish larvae.
